[The city's been quiet lately, but Kokoro is still wandering the fourth level early in the morning, weapons in hand. Given how little sense the physics in here make, it seems to be the best place to check in case something weird tries to sneak into the city again.
Unfortunately, this just leads to Kokoro sighing, standing upside down on the bottom of a tree branch, once she spots you.]
...ah. At least you aren't an invader or another monster.
[2. shopping district]
[Kokoro always seems to end up here. She wanders the streets with Ástron floating behind her, holding a bag of toys from the claw machine arcade. Occasionally she'll stop and leave a plush, a ball, or some other toy at a roadside spirit shrine.]

[The little star spirit chimes.] Do you think they'll want these?
I know it is no Starling. [sigh] But I certainly cannot keep them all. And even toys bring happiness, do they not?

followthepolestar[She’d already spent a handful of her birthdays without her friends before – her estrangement from Ichika, Shiho and Saki, even if she wanted to say it never happened, did happen, after all. But something about celebrating it in a world not her own made it different. Maybe it was the fact no one she knew would be here save those who arrived as Fallen Stars, not even her family – it would be her first birthday without the familiar fragrance of her mother’s cooking, laced with the love she put into it, the smiles of her friends as they celebrated another year alive. Maybe it was the burdens she took on since arriving – the horror of watching the world break down before her eyes, the hurt of seeing Kanade become… something else entirely, against her will. Her promise to Ariel. Or she could have been overthinking it and she was just… exhausted, from having to help with celebration prep, from helping the spirits celebrate their own efforts for the people around them. Her heart, regardless, ached for those she loves, but bled for the thought of them being trapped here. It felt selfish of her to wish for her family at a time like this.
If Honami had to be sincere, she’d say she’d hope it was the last of those possibilities she thought on. Especially to Saki and Kanade. But that was simply the way of things now.
She opts to celebrate quietly this time – spends the morning trying to recreate her mother’s cooking piece by piece, as a start, before going about her day preparing for it until the evening. Of course, she did at least let friends she knew here in Starsand know with a short message, and emphasized that if they didn’t have the opportunity to come, that was fine.

In your world, do you have particular phrases that, in your fiction, are totally the stock Cryptic Phrases? Things like "When the seas glow ashen gray, the sky must not be pink of hue" - meaningless and thus used between spies to speak to each other, except no actual spy would use it because it's such well known spy code?
