Update!

There is something about Christmas that drives me absolutely CRAZY! I can't tell if its the good kind of crazy or the "pull out your hair" crazy.

Its been a while since we've posted anything about our lives on here. So the most excited news would have to be that we are expecting our first little baby girl. Stef is due May 8th, 2013. I am so excited! I couldn't wait for all the ice cream, fast food and junk food that are suppose to come with your wife being pregnant. I was also really excited to remodel the baby room, or picking out the cutest little car seat, or making a crib by hand! I just pictured the perfect little wife that was going to let me baby her and the little one for the next 9 months.

  BUT,

The ice cream is meant to be eaten at approximately 12:26 in the morning! Fast food got really old after the 8th consecutive time. I still can't find half my stash of candy! The baby room turned out great! Until it turned into ripping out half of the upstairs and moving our bedroom into the baby room. (Still not finished) I never realized how many car seats there are, or how many other things I'd rather do than hand carve a crib!

On the other hand, I do have the sweetest wife that has accepting this special one into our live and has adjusted better than I could've ever imagined! There is a special spirit in the home ( I figured its either the hormones or Christmas ), but I do love my little family! Stef is going to be the best mom. I love her and can't wait to bring this new little blessing into our lives!

A Month of Gratitude Day 3-6

Since being sick I haven't felt up to blogging and missed a few days. I did however think each day what I was grateful for so here is my catch up!

November 3

Today I am grateful for my heating pad. I have had a terrible earache and thanks to my extra long heating pad I have been able to place it on my ear and sleep. In fact I sleep with this heating pad every night. I think it has turned into a child/baby blanket syndrome for me...
side note: thanks brett for buying this awesome heating pad

November 4

Today I am grateful for Visiting Teaching. I finally received my visiting teaching assignment in our ward today, delivered by an equally sick as me Relief Society President! Bless her heart! When I served as Relief Society President (RSP) back in my BYU ward I gained a testimony of just how important Visiting Teaching really is. It is because of Visiting Teaching that lasting friendships based not just on mutual interests but also spiritual experiences are formed. I can't wait to get started!

November 5

Today I am grateful for Skype. I can't even express how much the ability to not only talk to but SEE my family that is far away has affected my happiness the past 5 years. Having been stuck in bed for 4 days with no one else home for 2 of those days Skyping (is this a real verb?) with my parents brought me some much needed comfort and laughter.

November 6

Today I am grateful for The Mormon Channel. I missed church because I am still sick so I turned on The Mormon Channel app on my Iphone. I was able to listen to Elder Holland talk about Joseph Smith's life and I was brought to tears three times as I felt the spirit testify of Joseph Smith as a true prophet of God. I feel so blessed to be in a world where because of technology I can hear the words of God at any time in any place.

A Month Of Gratitude Day 2

November 2

Today I am grateful for something a little superficial... Apple TV. Today is my second day laying in bed sick. The weather outside is gorgeous which is unusual since it snowed just yesterday. I would give anything to be outside today enjoying the last few days of sunshine riding my bike, walking my dog, having a picnic... but alas I am stuck in bed fighting away a nasty cold. The only thing that has gotten me through is my sweet husband bringing me medicine, my cute cuddly puppy, and Apple TV. I have now watched several different episodes of varying shows thanks to Apple Tv's ability to use both Netflix and Hulu. Thank you Apple TV for helping me forget about the good weather I am missing outside. Please pass the cough syrup and and throat drops so I can enjoy my next show.

A Month of Gratitude

It is one of my favorite months of the year. I love the crisp mornings and evenings in November and the colors of the trees. I love the smell of comfort and holidays in stores and in friends' homes. I love the food and treats and decorations. I love the feeling of gratitude.

This month I will post 1 thing I am grateful for every day in hopes of having a higher level of optimism, alertness, physical well-being, and determination which recent studies suggest come from expressing gratitude on a regular basis

Today I am grateful for FAMILY.

Image

Over the past weekend I was able to spend time with Brett's family. I think there was 22 of us all in the same house! We spent the weekend playing games eating yummy treats and visiting with family that came to visit from England (Brett's sister and family). Brett was also given the opportunity to bless our new niece on Sunday. On Halloween Day we were able to spend time with some of my family. My amazing Mom and Grandma were visiting so we all got together for a delicious dinner and some trick-or-treating with the cute nieces and nephews. My family has always been a blessing to me. I love the memories I have of eating family dinner together, reading family scriptures and having family prayer. I am truly grateful for the blessings of family. They are God's greatest gift to us.
