Blondie

Neue Stickfortschritte habe ich leider nicht zu zeigen (man kommt zu nix...), aber ich zeig Euch mal, wer bei uns eingezogen ist. Dies ist Blondie, ein Katzenbaby, das uns in der Firma zugelaufen ist. Zuerst war es irgenwo in der Wand und einige Kollegen haben es Miauen gehört, konnten es aber nicht finden. Ein paar Tage später tauchte es dann in der Produktion auf.
I have no stitching to show at the moment, but I can show you some photos of who has been living with us for the past few days. This is Blondie, a little kitten that we found at work. It had been living somewhere in the wall, some people heard it miaowing but they could not find it, and one evening it came wandering into the production hall.

Leider wollte niemand das Kätzchen haben, also habe ich es kurzerhand mitgenommen, vom Tierarzt untersuchen lassen, und jetzt wohnt es erst mal bei uns. Es ist drei bis vier Wochen alt, braucht noch ganz weiches Futter und gelegentlich Katzenbabymilch aus dem Fläschchen, aber es ist gesund.
Nobody at work wanted the kitten so I took to the vet's to get checked out and now it is living with us for the time being. It is three to four weeks old, it can eat soft pate-like cat food and still needs kitten milk from the bottle. But it is healthy and if it keeps it up, it will be eating us out of house and home ;)

Das ist Scott mit Blondie. Das Katzentierchen entwickelt sich prima, futtert wie doll, ist verschmust und liebebedürftig, und es ist spannend anzusehen, wie es sein Umfeld entdeckt und sich jeden Tag mehr traut und mutiger wird.
This is our Scott with Blondie. The wee kitten is thriving, it is so loving and loves getting cuddled and petted, and it is fascinating to watch how it gets more adventurous every day.

 *wink* Es wird wirklich langsam Zeit, dass ich mal wieder ein Lebenszeichen von mir gebe, sonst denkt Ihr noch in Texas ist die Welt zu Ende und ich bin vom Rand gefallen... Sooo viel hat sich getan, seit wir nach Houston umgezogen sind! Und soooo lange habe ich gar nicht gestickt. Erst in den letzten paar Wochen habe ich wieder angefangen. Seit ein paar Monaten arbeite ich wieder, dann hatten wir hier drei (ja - DREI!!!) Monate Sommerferien (und ein extrem gelangweiltes Kind!), dann war es so brüllend heiß, dass wir seit Mai kaum noch vor die Tür gehen konnten (wochenlang um die 40°C und megaschwül...), und jetzt erst geht alles so gaaaanz laaaangsaaam wieder seinen normalen Gang - und ich habe meine Sticklust endlich wieder gefunden. Die AHRH-Teilchen haben mich wieder voll in ihrem Bann, oben könnt Ihr gucken, wie's jetzt aussieht.
I know, I know... I have been negleting this blog WAY too long... sooo sorry!!! I have been so busy since we moved to Houston and for months I did not stitch at all. I have started working again (I'm loving it - but I had a LOT to learn!), then we had three months summer vacation (and one bored child!), then there was the heat (it does get hot in Germany but that is nothing compared to what it's like over here - we have not been able to go out much since May!), and now everything is slowly going back to normal and I have finally found my stitching mojo again. I have been busy working on AHRH, as you can see from my progress photo above.

Und jetzt wird es langsam Herbst, die Tagen werden kürzer, das Laub rieselt, und auch in Houston fällt das Thermometer langsam. Hurra :) Ich wünsche Euch einen schönen Herbst!

Now we are slowly going into autumn, the days are getting shorter, the leaves are falling and it is starting to cool down. At last :) Have a great autumn!

Au weia, es ist schon über einen Monat her, seit ich zuletzt geschrieben habe. Man kommt zu nix... ;)
Wow... it's been over a month since my last post... I don't seem to get around to doing anything much...

Bin immer noch fleißig am Sticken, mein dritter AHRH-Block wächst, aber er wächst langsam. Dafür habe ich mal eben zwischendurch einen kleinen Quäker gestickt. Er stammt aus der "Pinkeep Story", der "Lover's Quaker" von Jardin Privé, gestickt mit Tentakulum Edelkirsch, das einen wunderschönen Farbverlauf hat.
I am still busy stitching AHRH, I am on my third block now but it seems to be taking forever... Could be due to the fact that I strayed and stitched something else in-between, the "Lover's Quaker" by Jardin Privé out of the "Pinkeep Story". Stitched on 40ct linen with Tentakulum Edelkirsch, a beautiful variegated thread.

Wir hatten in Houston einen Jahrhundertwinter - Temperaturen um den Gefriergrad, tagelang! Im Ernst, die Einheimischen waren so geschockt, dass sich manche sogar eine Winterjacke gekauft haben, die erste ihres Lebens! Wir als Europäer schmunzeln darüber, aber wir leben jetzt in einer Gegend, in der Winterreifen und Streusalz unbekannt sind, Eiskratzer für Autoscheiben gibt es nirgends, und bei Eisregen steht die Stadt still. Komplett. Alle Hauptverkehrsadern waren gesperrt. Na gut, bei Eisregen hätten auch Winterreifen nix genutzt, da ist es wirklich sicherer, einfach daheim zu bleiben. Aber das Wetter hatte auch schöne Seiten:
We have had a bad winter in Houston - freezing temperatures for days on end. It has never been this cold here for so long and I know people who have actually gone out and bought a winter jacket for the first time in their lives. We as Europeans laugh about it, but this is an area where winter tires and salt for the roads are totally unheard of. For nearly a whole day all the main freeways were closed because they were completely frozen over. Fair enough, in weather like that winter tires don't help anyway and it is safer to stay at home. So DH and DS (who was happy because the schools were closed!) enjoyed a day off. 

Hoffentlich ist der Winter bald vorbei, haltet Euch schön warm.

Hurra - Block 12

Tadaaa - Block 12 des AHRH ist fertig :D Dieser Block hat riesigen Spaß gemacht, die kleinen Motive gefallen mir alle so gut, ich konnte das Teil kaum zur Seite legen! Jetzt geht es weiter mit Block 9, der wird wohl etwas länger brauchen, da gibt es viele große Flächen...
Wooohooo - block 12 of my AHRH is finished. I thoroughly enjoyed stitching this one, I love all the little motifs on this and I could hardly put it aside! Well, on to block 9 now. I think it is safe to predict that that one will take a bit longer because it has large areas that are fully stitched... But it has a witch in it, and I love witches!

Ich bin schwer beeindruckt von Euch Crazy Challenge-Stickerinnen!!! Ich habe einige Blogs verfolgt und ich finde es klasse, wie Ihr das tatsächlich durchgehalten habt! Ich hätte mich wahrscheinlich mittendrin in einem Teil festgebissen, das einfach weiter gestickt und den ganzen Challenge fahren lassen... Ich freu mich drauf, bei Euch zu gucken, wie sich Eure Teile weiter entwickeln :D
I am absolutely in awe of all you crazy challenges stitchers!!! I have been following several blogs and I am really impressed how you all managed to stick to it and start 15 pieces in 15 days! I think I would have started a few patterns and then just carried on stitching on one piece, and to hang with the challenge... I am looking forward to seeing many lovely finishes on your blogs :D
