Maybe you can read this but it's less awesome http://valkyrieprofile.wikia.com/wiki/Suo

AU Background: Suo is a simple man without title or fame. He bears no special upbringing, nor any secrets that may lead him towards a glorious or miserable life. He is simply a samurai from Wakoku, in the province of Tsuwano. Suo is one of many men among a band of warriors known as the 100 Demons; albeit there is oftentimes more than 100 men among the troupe. And even still, Suo wasn't anything more than a soldier among their number, a man brandishing a massive no-datchi and a suit of red armor.

Suo fought for his home, the people, and his brothers in arms. Things were as simple as that; sleep, fight, patrol, eat...

Until coming to battle with warriors from the township of Hai-Lan. It was said that their men fought like berserkers, not fearing death and laying waste to all, even ally if he happened to swing to wide. This was caused by a Song Maiden, a woman whom would sing and inspire such emotion she could command man to her will... or the will of her master. By some miracle during a bloody battle, Hai-Lan's song maiden went silent, spreading panic among their soldiers. With ease the red-clad samurai cut them down.

Suo was the first to approach the abandoned song maiden. It was quickly obvious she was blind, asking what the color red looked like. She was quick to ask for her death but, Suo, after a moments consideration, declined. Rather, he took her in arms and carried her back to camp.

His commanding officer appeared to kill the woman almost on the spot, and Suo found himself accused of being bewitched by the girl. Afterward, Suo began to question just what he was fighting for. Where he'd shown mercy on a helpless non-combatant, his superiors and others displayed unrelenting mercilessness.

Some months after this event continued to nag at him, Suo was sent as part of a squad to investigate a small town hiding warriors disguised as civilians. Suo was against this, but, never spoke up to protest his assignment. At the town, he found himself face to face with a man with a sword, protecting a woman and her children. Though the man's hands shook, his stance was that of a warrior; one of the two factors here being false. For a moment, Suo raised his sword against the "villager", only to lower it and consider again, was this really what he wanted to fight for.

And a moment later, he found cold steel cutting through a worn plate in his armor. The strike was near-fatal, and not only did the villagers leave him in the dirt for dead, but when his squad came through and cleaned up the slaughter that should have been his, they called him soft, and left him for dead as well.

Luckily children are not so cold hearted, and he was taken in long enough to recover. Taking his armor and sword from his caretaker's home, he set off wandering, deciding to head back home, perhaps to find new purpose.

Personality: Though not a "samurai" by definition, having no lord to serve, Suo holds himself to a sense of honor, bloodstained as it may be. Suo took up the sword to protect others, the problem was whom he took up his sword with. In the name of protecting people within the territory of the 100 Demons, he became a merciless slaughterer, and didn't question it for quite some time. As long as it was in the name of protecting others, he was fine hiding behind the mask of his and the blood red armor.

After meeting a particular woman, he began to question if his path was the right one. More and more he was questioning every one of his actions, even in the midst of combat. His questions have led to more than one disastrous mistake, which has further compiled onto his list resting on his conscious. Having learned his former cause was simply an excuse for bloodshed, he's left himself to wander. Though the will and strength to fight remains, his lack of cause has left his sword dry.

In a fight, Suo acts like the monster his armor resembles, yet a monster with a bit of honor. Suo won't strike a foe from behind, so he's quite boisterous and attention getting. Once his foe looks at him, all bets are off. So long as Suo is standing and swinging his blade, he will continue to boast his strength and success and draw attention to himself.

Suo hides more than his face behind his mask, he hides that he also feels, and thinks, more than people would expect him to. He allows people to make assumptions about him, be that he is nothing more than a barbarian, or a bloodthirsty slaughterer. When he is in battle, this is true, but he subtly applies thought and tactic to his battles. Not enough to lead a squad on his own, yet, but enough to make him a suberb warrior. But his thinking and feeling has begun to get in the way of his fighting; causing a near-fatal mistake.

Combat Style: Suo ruthlessly weilds a no-datchi in battle. Typically a katana meant for combat against mounted units, he wields it expertly against the common soldier. Nothing exceptional stands out about his style with the blade, but Suo has learned to control his ki, and has become capable of projecting close-range blasts with it, and mixes this in between his wider, more exposed swings.

Suo has also perfected this brief manifestation of his ki into a powerful swing of his sword, from which jagged stalagmites of ice shoot forth in a short wave along the path of his swing. Typically this is an arc in order to strike more foes, but can also be swing vertically to increase range and focus the attack. He calls this technique Hyoso Houjin

Kingdom or Faction: Unaligned

Primary Role: Masked Samurai

Soldier or Siege Company: N/A

Tarot Cards: The Chariot, Wheel of Fortune, The Star
((Christ, thanks to tarot I cannot stop thinking Jojo's or Tactics Ogre))

Title: None

Artifacts: None

Setting Considerations: Should anyone app Shiho from Valkyrie Profile, that is the same song maiden from his back story. She's also most certainly not killed, just... left for dead and picked up by some traveler that saved her.

Notes: Likely see above regarding Shiho. Lenneth Valkyrie will have no impact on Suo's backstory... cuz nobody died!

Sample Post:

The Fool
Question: You are about to embark upon a grand journey. What do you carry in your satchel? I carry only but the food I need until the next village or city. I've never known the life of a traveler. There have always been those whom carry supplies for the warriors among my former brothers. I would hope to be among those who know what supplies to carry, and leave it to them, that I may remain unencumbered.

The Magician
Question: Your liege has called upon you to perform a task of great importance. Upon what do you rely to complete it? My liege? You assume that I have one. As for that task, however, I would not need more than my sword and my armor. A warrior's task is a simple one, and so long as it is a warrior's task, I won't need any more than that.

The Empress
Question: What does your presence bring to your kingdom? It would bring strength. It would bring the fear that lands have come to feel from the dust left behind by my former brothers, the One Hundred Demons. It would bring a sense of security in knowing that no invader will step foot on these lands without feeling my blade cut them in twain!

The Chariot
Question: It is the eve of a great battle, and the troops have made camp for the night. Where are you and what are you doing? Every night before battle, be it great or small, I make sure my blade is clean and prepared to quench itself in the blood of my foes. We do not celebrate or cheer until we step foot on and off the battlefield. Lately I have been wondering if our purpose is just. If this battle is truly protecting our people, or if we are there just to slaughter others and take what is there.

Justice
Question: You are presiding over a murder trial where both suspects claim innocence. What do you do? Which man has the most criminal history. I am no judge, but if none has seen the murder itself, it is likely the one with a history of crime and murder. Some habits are neigh impossible to abandon.

Wheel of Fortune
Question: You are given the opportunity to bet everything you have for great fortune, should you win you will be granted the wealth of kings but should you lose you will lose everything. What do you do? That is an absurdly generous offer! Though I do not have any need for such wealth, it is a hard offer to pass up when my only significant loss is my sword and my armor, unless my life is also on the table for this bet. But I will take my chances.

Strength
Question: What do you do in the face of great adversity? There is nothing but to face it head on, and tear it down. No man nor beast can stand on my path once my eyes are upon it. If force is not the answer, then I shall make it my answer!

The Hanged Man
Question: For what cause are you willing to sacrifice yourself? It is simple; to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It was for that reason I was amongst the One Hundred Demons... but... either they have strayed from that path, or I was misled to begin with.

Death
Question: What do you want people to remember about you after you are gone? I would certainly hope that someone would remember the man that stood up for them. That the people would remember the demon of a man who defended their homes, and that my foes would remember the bloody red visage that tore down their efforts.

The Devil
Question: What vices keep you from achieving your true potential? Questioning my objectives in the middle of a fight. Once already has my thinking nearly gotten me killed. I suppose if I were to shut myself off, I could be the ruthless warrior people expect me to be.
