These folks are with us in the fight to live and learn differently.

Autistic Realms

I am Helen; I developed Autistic Realms to advocate for a better understanding of neurodivergence and mental health in education.

Our friend, ally, and collaborator Helen of Autistic Realms is doing important and necessary work. She’s a highly connected knowledge worker working at the vanguard of multiple movements, connecting us together and increasing our collective impact. Together, we are operating as the consciousness of our species during a time of mass behaviorism and unvarnished eugenics.

There aren’t many people who can do what Helen does. She serves vital roles in social change. Neurodiversity is one of the most powerful ideas in human history. Our world, at this precarious moment for our species and all species, desperately needs the lessons of neurodiversity. Helen is at the forefront, in the vanguard, serving in the trenches of neurodiversity and disability rights. She’s doing knowledge work that scales from cognitively accessible infographics to highly sourced and nuanced academic treatises.

Human Restoration Project

Neurodiversity is one of the most powerful ideas of our generation. Human Restoration Project understands the importance of neurodiversity and disability in an era of mass behaviorism and unvarnished eugenics. They are true allies in the fight for the right to live and learn differently.

HRP’s vision for human-centered education is compatible with neurodiversity, the social model of disability, and human dignity. They understand that sharing power fosters self-determination, something dearly important to our community of neurodivergent and disabled people.

More About Human Restoration Project

Human Restoration Project is informingguiding, and growing a movement toward a progressive, human-centered education system. We are bringing together a network of radical educators who are transforming classrooms across the world.

About Human Restoration Project

At Stimpunks, we choose the margin, because design is tested at the edges. HRP likewise designs for those of us at the margins. That’s because they have joined us at the edges. They show up. They listen. They integrate. They practice good allyship.

This is exemplified throughout their work, including the implementation of the Conference to Restore Humanity, a conference model for the future compatible with us Stimpunks like no other. No one else includes us like HRP.

Conference to Restore Humanity! is an annual, designed-for-virtual conference centering progressive education, social justice, and preserving the humanity of classrooms. We strive to bring together the radicals reimagining their classroom spaces and demanding for a just future.

Conference to Restore Humanity

Reframing is a big part of our advocacy. Reframing ourselves and others is hard and important work necessary to all other work.

“The long-term well-being and empowerment of Autistics and members of other neurocognitive minority groups hinges upon our ability to create a paradigm shift – a shift from the pathology paradigm to the neurodiversity paradigm.”

Dr. Nick Walker

HRP helps create this paradigm shift with their handbooks and why sheets. HRP’s materials help us reframe people as we journey through our systems.

Finding HRP was like finding an oasis. They understand, and they help.

Autistic Collaboration Trust

Aut Collab (the Autistic Collaboration Trust) is a community that welcomes all individuals and groups who fully appreciate the value of neurodiversity. If you are looking for a global network of collaborative Autistic peers, Autistic organisations, and NeurodiVentures, you have come to the right place. Aut Collab acts as a global hub for mutual support, and encourages neurodivergent ♾ individuals and ventures to connect and establish long-term collaborations.

Our friends and allies at Randimals have a saying,

What makes us different, makes all the difference in the world.

Randimals

We agree.

Randimals evoke spiky profiles, learning terroir, collaborative niche construction, and special interests. Understanding these is critical to fostering neurological pluralism.

Thanks to the folks at Randimals for helping us tell our story and have some fun. They’re weird like you and me, they honor neurodivergent people as a “foundational part of most fandoms“, and they “honor the unique relationships Autistic people have to objects“.

It's just me and my MPC
Questing out to meet my tribe unique
Keep it funky for the followers eager to speak
The same dialect is on when we greet in the street, fam
Why would my sound be tampered?
Or better yet, watered down and then pampered?
Cater to who, I influence the standard
Check it… we 'bout to change some manners

Did you ever feel

Like you don’t quite belong

Just hold on

And go find your people

Find Your Voice

Find Your Voice is a family-driven initiative created by a team of neurodivergents: Designer Dad Steve, Early Years Educator Mom Tara, and their daughter, Miss A. Based in Melbourne, Australia, our journey began with a need—our daughter often experiences situational mutism, especially in high-stress environments, and we wanted to help her communicate more comfortably.

We tried several sets of communication cards, but they were quickly rejected by our daughter for being ‘cringe’ or ‘too babyish.’ So, we took matters into our own hands. With Steve’s extensive design expertise, Tara’s background in education, and Miss A’s invaluable lived experience, we created our own set of self-advocacy and communication cards.

Initially, this was a personal project, but we soon realized that if our daughter needed this, so did others. Today, our cards help people across the globe find their voice.

Find Your Voice

We at Stimpunks were excited when we first saw the communication cards from “Find Your Voice”. At last, we found a stylish and designerly set of cards with a modern and clean aesthetic. Most communication cards have a cartoonish aesthetic aimed at young children. The “Find Your Voice” cards appeal to teens and adults looking for something more grown up and professional.

I experienced situational mutism as a kid. I wrote about my school experience in “R-word and Genius: Situationally Mute Hyperlexic Autistic”. I wish cards like these existed back when I was in school.

Find Your Voice™ DIY Self Advocacy Cards are available in yellow, red, blue, green, and purple as PDF downloads.

There’s also an iPhone and iPad app.

This set covers my self advocacy needs, but a fixed set of cards like these can’t cover everyone’s needs. If you need a custom set, InPrint is a good resource, but it lacks the designerly aesthetic.

Pair these communication cards with our interaction badges.
