Did anyone see the Pet Shop Boys documentary last night? Anyone?
Cor, I would like it to be summer now. Really. I have LOTS OF ACE THINGS going on this summer and I am anxious to get on with them! I have at least one ace thing per summer month, as follows:
June - Foo Fighters/Motorhead/Queens of the Stone Age/Angels & Airwaves/The Subways/Juliette & the Licks @ Hyde Park - I will be afforded another opportunity to stalk lovely beardy Dave Grohl. Marvellous.
July - Skool trip! Camping! Booze! Etc!
August - Lowlands Fesival. It's a festival! In Holland! With enough showers for everyone to use! They deliver coffee to your tent in the morning! And it's next to a theme park and your ticket lets you in! ROLLERCOASTERS!!
September - Bestival Festival - er, we bought these tickets on a whim when really drunk and then promptly forgot about them. But EEEEE Pet Shop Boys! Inflatable wedding chapels! Bouncy Castles! The world's biggest fancy dress event! Beard and moustache competitions! Ballroom dancing!
OK OK enough with all the exclamation marks in this entry.
In preparation for all of this I am listening to The Bees very loudly. Ahhh.
I can hear 4 different Pearl Jam songs blasting out of 4 different offices and it is driving me demented. This may or may not have something to do with the mini-skool trip to see - wait for it - Pearl Jam (at the Astoria - squeee!) tonight.
They now have the accolade of being the highest priced gig tickets I have EVER seen on ebay. Last week they were going for £750 a pair or £350 for a single. People are mentalists.
For the first time in about 6 months I actually don't have very much work to do. Does it show?
For my own info mostly, as I seem to be able to simultaneously organise the movement and schedules of 25 people but not put matching shoes on my own feet nowadays:
Mental gig schedule
Tonight: Pearl Jam @ Astoria Saturday 22nd April: Flaming Lips @ Royal Albert Hall Monday 24th April: Hope of the States @ Kings College Friday 5th May: Snow Patrol @ Forum Saturday 6th May: Radiohead @ KB Hall, Copenhagen Tuesday 9th May: Take That @ Wembley Arena Tuesday 16th May: New Pornographers @ KOKO Thursday 18th May: Radiohead @ Hammersmith Apollo Friday 19th May: Radiohead @ Hammersmith Apollo Monday 22nd May: Broken Social Scene @ KOKO
COULD NO OTHER BANDS PLEASE ANNOUNCE GIGS IN MAY PLEASE THANKYOU.
I want to go see Tapes N' Tapes but they're playing on the 18th and 22nd May and wouldn't you know it, I'm already at other gigs on those dates.
I want to go see The Walkmen but that's 4th May and frankly that weekend is going to kill me anyway - I'll be getting back from seeing Snow Patrol at around midnight, I need to be AT Stansted Airport for 6.10am which means getting up at like 4am, off to Copenhagen, pootle about for the day, see Radiohead at night, pootle about all the next day, back in London about 1am monday morning, home by 2.30 maybe (?), up at 7.30 for work. OUCH.
There shalt be another one - at some stage, when I can be bothered; when I actually feel like writing because I enjoy writing and not for any other reason. Or maybe there won't. Who knows?
And somewhere in between Camden and Holloway in the crush of people walking home and the even bigger crush in the 15 minutes we took the bus and realised that walking was faster and got off again, some f*cker took the time to steal my wallet. Marvellous.
