Project management services

Project fluidity and cost certainty

Effective project management consists of comprehensive overview preparation and execution during all phases, regardless of project complexity.

Stratum understands that the key to successful project management is awareness of risks and planning, along with use of preventive and rectification measures to control budget cost, time scheduling, design, procurement, contracts management, and construction productivity prior to commencement of the project. Its management process applies effective decision-making throughout a project’s life cycle to ensure project fluidity and cost certainty. Stratum is committed to delivering projects while meeting expectations, on time and on budget, and with excellent quality. We handle project and construction management in parallel during all project phases to meet your targets. Our services cover five project areas:

Stratum’s team provides costing and constructability advice during the project’s design stage and municipal approval process. This approach recommends alternatives as an added-value which is beneficial to the client and design team, ensuring the design is in alignment with the design integrity. Stratum’s team also assists with document management processes, including constructability reviews, to ensure that project documents are sufficient for construction. This approach can minimize future rework, and targets a no-gap transition from design to construction to minimize extra costs during the construction stage.

Value Engineering

  • Value engineering to propose cost saving scopes while maintaining original design intent

Stratum conducts a feasibility study at an early stage of each project to ensure viability in meeting all local and national standards, obtaining necessary permits, and fulfilling environmental requirements. The team’s expertise is in strategic planning, and foresight of downstream issues benefits project execution with ease. Daily progress is reviewed and budget monitored, along with scheduling and management of potential risks through a documented risk matrix process. Stratum also develops field-based construction management teams modelled on each client’s specific needs and project requirements by providing effective project leadership in following areas:

Construction budget management:

  • General account management
  • Trade contractor procurement and management
  • Change Order management
  • Cost control
  • Executive budget forecasting

Construction Scheduling:

  • Procurement sequence
  • Logistic sequence
  • Construction sequence
  • Statutory approval sequence
  • Project turnover sequence

Construction Planning:

  • Site logistics
  • Site resources
  • Material resources, including offshore material
  • Site traffic flow

The key to successful procurement is undertaking of project scope while engaging exceptional project professionals. Stratum works with suppliers, trade contractors, and procurement specialists to ensure projects receive all necessary components, including market research for local availability and employing offshore contacts when required. Stratum’s trade contractor procurement strategy and planning approach includes:

Stratum’s trade contractor procurement strategy and planning approach includes:

  • Procurement packaging and scheduling
  • Domestic trade contract market research
  • Offshore trade contract market research

Project closeout is a critical time in the life of a construction project. During project closeout, all construction activities are completed and approved for occupancy by the owner, along with municipal and other relevant authorities. The construction field is cleaned up, the client’s team is trained on all necessary equipment, and all project documentation is organized and turned over to the client. At project closeout, Stratum attends all necessary processes to ensure a smooth closeout process, communicating with the client and addressing any warranty programs. And as an added value, Stratum’s team also sets up a databank system and delivers the data with project records for the client’s future project planning. Services during post-construction include:
