Energy receive,
Energy return,
Aspiring people everywhere...

Selamat Hari Raya Haji
Wukuf pun sudah...
Esok jam 830 pagi, Masjid Negeri Pulau Pinang.
Kali ini beraya di seberang (oversea?). Heh, peperiksaan punya fasal.
...
Hmmm... its been a while. I was really lucky to be there, along with my friend. I hope in near future... I'd come again.

// Enjoying Roti Canai back in the room, to get a bit of rest - did 3 umrah that day. Courtesy of Rosman Hawari, July 2004.
By the way, NatGeo made a documentary about Hajj quite yonks ago. It featured how people from all walks of life committed their life to perform hajj. Some went through with much difficulty - read people from Africa (no support from govt), others just cruised in smoothly - read Tabung Haji. But once the whole ritual began, its between you and Allah, of course with quality time.
Okay, here are some memorable moments I am willing to share (there are others but I'd rather keep it for myself):
- I was doing the sai'e, of course reciting the rites off the Tabung Haji's little pocket book. I was a bit focused, hence unaware of what's going on around me. When I raised my head up to see where I am walking to, I realised that I was surrounded by Turkish muslimah group, apparently 'marching' for sai'e full of energy. They read out loud the prayer, often shouting, led by a male maestro ahead of the pack. Guess what? They're reading the whole text. I mean the whole, including all the guides! (numbers etc) eg. Thalatsah! Bismillahirrahmanirrahim... and the prayer goes on. Quite amusing though. Within seconds I just sneaked out and go on with my sai'e. Phew!
- Had a really really minor nosebleed when taking ablution. I hope I could just stop it without bringin up much attention from others. I bet not! More than 10 people came to me to give out the tissues to help out...
- While doing the tawaf, I could see few elderly carried by their son. Old, decrepit, over the muscular hunks. Hmmm... a million ringgit question - Will I do it when the time comes? Or I should just use the 'upah haji'? Islam memang memudahkan, but out of love...
- One thing for sure, here is the best place to cry, because everyone else does. It's free flow! (pun intended)
Now, where's my Tabung Haji account book?

Post EBM, Medicine & Surgery - Sang Murabbi
Bak kata pepatah, orang mengantuk disorongkan bantal...

// Kami tiba dilokasi tayangan awal. Jadi sempat bergambar dan...

// makan malam di Padang Kota Lama. Lantainya kotor sungguh. The last place I would recommend to go for food - dirty and expensive!

// Menonton Dato' Shah Rukh Khan di peti televisyen... siaran paling bersejarah selepas mendaratnya Neil Armstrong di bulan!

// Pak Hilal, orang FORKOMMI - Forum Komunikasi Masyarakat Muslim Indonesia

Sang Murabbi... edisi Malaysia?
The Guru (Tuan Guru?)
Sang Mursyid
Bukan Kerana Pangkat
Amir
Peristiwa 16 September
The Future Nur
postscriptum : Kang Abik sedang berusaha keras membantu menyiapkan filem Bila Cinta Bertasbih. Ingat, ia novel pembangun jiwa, bukan novel cinta...

Laskar Pelangi?
I found these photos when I was doing some housekeeping on my computer. Circa 1997-2001, SMAPK.
Heh... do we look like some sort of 'Laskar Pelangi'? The characters in that novel (or film) had a very tough times wading through their life, and in no way that what we had in SMAPK were anywhere close. But, I think the greatest test of all - the very dining hall servers one-week-menu ie. if today you're having chicken curry, veggie soup and some papaya, you'll be having it the same day every week until they change the dining hall contractor - and it's like forever waiting for it!
Now the condition has improved, in fact I heard it is 3-week-menu or even 4! What a bless!
Mimpi adalah kunci
untuk kita menaklukkan dunia
Berlarilah tanpa lelah
sampai engkau
meraihnya
Laskar pelangi
takkan terikat waktu
Bebaskan mimpimu di angkasa
Warnai bintang di jiwa
Menarilah dan terus tertawa
Walau dunia tak seindah syurga
Bersyukurlah pada Yang Kuasa
Cinta kita di dunia
selamanya...
Cinta kepada hidup
Memberikan senyuman abadi
Walau ini kadang tak adil
tapi cinta lengkapi kita
Laskar pelangi
takkan terikat waktu
Jangan berhenti mewarnai
jutaan mimpi di bumi
Menarilah dan terus tertawa
Walau dunia tak seindah syurga
Bersyukurlah pada Yang Kuasa
cinta kita di dunia
selamanya...

"What you see [in war or conflict] is unmitigated pain, injustice, and misery. It has occurred to me that if everybody could be there just once to see for themselves what white phosphorus [used in bombs, artillary shells, and mortar shells] does to the face of a child or what unspeakable pain is caused by the impact of a single bullet or how a ragged piece of shrapnel can rip someone's leg off - if everybody could be there to see for themselves the fear and grief just one time, then they would understand that nothing is worth letting things get to the point where that happens to even one person, let alone thousands."
"But everyone cannot be there and that is why photographers go there, to show them, to reach out and grab them and make them stop what they're doing and pay attention to what is going on - to create pictures powerful enough to... shake people out of their indifference."

Alhamdulillah I'm done with Nephrology for now.
Right after the Long case I went to the workshop, to see what can be done to that recently-flooded seasoned Saga. A routine as it seems, I stopped by Popular bookshop before pocketing away a lifestyle magazine - Off The Edge.
Well, you know, this sort of mag rarely features someone I'd like to have a cup of coffee with. Hmmm... it is quite a so-called middle class literature is much akin to KLue, with some heavy op-ed about what's going on out there, rather than bloated by endless reviews about entertainment (recall URTV? or Galaxie? or Mangga?).
Enter the November issue. It's him my goodness!
