โ–ถ 001. Romantic Walks By The Beach

The city continues to glitch out and the various factions are still abuzz as they try to track down LILITH's mark. Daily life is thrown off and tensions begin to run high. LILITH urges the Outsiders to follow the various reports popping up around the city and try to track down Bjorn.

Eventually, they catch a break. A recent pattern in witness reports suggests Bjorn is moving towards the bay. The Outsiders will have to make their way towards the sea. The scale of their movement will tip off the different factions in the city so they'll have to subdue them to ensure the upcoming battle goes without interruption. Furthermore, since it seems that their confrontation will take place near the sea, they'll have to evacuate the locals in the area ahead of it.

However, on Valentine's Day, something shifts in the air. Suddenly, the air becomes unbearably heavy and dangerous to be in as the air becomes saturated with Rift energy. It happens without warning and their plans will be forced to shift gears. They need to urgently evacuate the civilians, many who now have difficulty moving due to severe Rift poisoning.

The civilians are confrontational, prone to mood swings, and may fight back against them. Due to the electronic glitches in the city, they might experience a surge in electrical activity that scrambles the Outsiders's oculars, resulting in piercing headaches and more hallucinations. However, they are ordinary civilians so they can't control this random power and it appears that each use causes them pain. Removing them from the Rift-affected area seems to calm down the effects and LILITH provides tranquilizers that can be used to disarm them if necessary. They are also provided with antidotes to administer to the most severely affected. Fortunately, the clinics and hospitals located around the perimeter are prepared to take in the civilians and treat them if they are brought to their doors.

The Outsiders will also encounter some of the gangs who are still trying to catch Bjorn for personal gain. While many of them are ordinary thugs that are affected like the rest of the civilians, there are also some who boast being former military or ex-mercenaries. These folks appear to have more resistance to the Rift poisoning but the longer they stay in the environment, the more effects they take on. Eventually, some of them may begin to corrupt into reptile-like kaiju hybrids. They will attack Outsiders with ice, water, or poison attacks.

Outsiders can choose to use their limited antidotes on these thugs but bear in mind there are also civilians and each other to look out for. They still have not found Bjorn either but it won't take long until they find him. How Outsiders use the antidotes is up to them.

โ–ถ 002. Valentine's Day Shipping!

Everything can eventually be triangulated to a warehouse district near the sea. The Outsiders will have to navigate a labyrinth of cargo containers to find Bjorn. LILITH authorizes the right to open up containers in case he is hiding inside of them. By doing so, Outsiders can find all sorts of goodsโ€“ legal and illegal. What they choose to do with their finds is up to them as long as LILITH doesn't find out. With the oculars glitching out, it's not like they're being tracked or watched effectively, right? Drugs, highly advanced weaponry, various technology... feel free to have your character find anything you'd like.

While searching the containers, Outsiders may run into shipyard robots that continue to move boxes and operate different machinery. They may also find some civilian harbor workers who haven't evacuated yet. They may be experiencing Rift poisoning or bear injuries from a physical attack. When asked what caused these injuries, they'll yell that they were attacked by a small kaiju.

It won't take long to find some of the possible attackers. There are corrupted kaiju-hybrids prowling about. Some of them appear to be Rift-corrupted thugs but others might have escaped from cargo holds. They jump out from behind corners or from atop stacks of containers. They can attack at any moment so the Outsiders will have to be on their guard.

Eventually, the Outsiders will finally find Bjorn. He is in a poor state, clearly confused, and appears to be suffering from severe Rift poisoning himself. He rambles incoherent nonsense and if the Outsiders try to approach him, he attacks with a blast of Rift energy that can knock them back and even poison them if they take a direct hit. He speaks, and the oculars finally translate from Old Norse:

HELP. . . . ME. . . . AM LOST.

His eyes glow ominously blue and he lets out an inhuman roar. Everything around them begins to shake like a powerful earthquake is hitting. It's difficult to keep their balance and suddenly...

The ground beneath them gives beneath their feet.

โ–ถ 003. Through the Earth

Everything around them becomes dark and it feels like they are being plunged into an ice bath. However, instead of floating or having any sort of buoyancy, they are dragged down by a powerful current that pulls them deeper, deeper, and deeper.

If they look around them, they'll see a seemingly endless darkness as they fall but scattered throughout, there are random thingsโ€“ boulders, doors, cement blocks, twisted signs, and what appears to be broken debris. Be careful as you fallโ€“ you wouldn't want to hit any of these objects falling at your speed. The number of objects increases and grows in size the closer they get to the bottom. They will see the hulls of ships, broken masts, scattered cargo, and the skeletal remains of some large animal.

They might also catch a glimpse of Bjorn falling with them. As they fall, his body twists and begins to change. He lets out feral, mad sounds and his features become less humanlike and more monstrous. Finally, as if his body is torn apart by some great force, he transforms into something and disappears into the abyss.

Gradually, their speed slows until they touch solid ground and that's when everything hits them. Their bodies will feel very heavy at first, as if they're beginning to catch a bad case of the flu. It's like they can feel their bodies trying to fight something off and it will give them fatigue, body aches, and brain fog. These effects are short-lived, however. It washes away like a wave and while they may feel a little disoriented, they will be largely fine.

Looking around them, it will look like they're at the bottom of the sea. All around them are the remains of sunken ships in various stages of destruction. There are also massive whalefall-like skeletal structures. These are no ordinary animal remains. They are the remains of kaiju that have sunk to the bottom of an abysmal Rift sea.

Are they swimming? Or are they standing? It's something in between. Their bodies move lightly, as if gravity works differently down here but they are still being kept down by some heavy pressure from above. They can breathe fine, but the air they inhale feels weighted. There isn't much time to explore in the abyss because from above, a great serpent appears with glowing blue eyes.

Arm yourselves, Angels of LILITH. BJร–RN THE FEARLESS has arrived.

โ–ถ 004. Kaiju Fall

It is an intense fight beneath the water's surface; a surreal world where physics don't make sense. Weapons and attacks that use elements are unaffected, so are projectile weapons. It's too hectic to question the if's and what's.
The Outsiders work well together despite the trials they face. Denji & Raidou become frozen in the fight; Vash, Choso, Muramasa, Yugamu have been poisoned by an otherworldly serpent bite and need assistance. Those who have hallucinations, temporary paralysis, temporary memory loss.. it could be hours or days before they recover. Those with Berserker rage will be subdued once the fight is over, but could be irritable for hours or days. Hatsutori releases a Berserker heat beam blast that hits heavy; maybe it will thaw out those who are frozen! Toji uses his split soul katana, slicing deep within the kaiju's neck for another heavy hit. The fight goes on, but eventually...

Bjorn sinks down to the bottom of the sea-like Rift. As he falls, his scales begin to melt away to dust. His form shrinks, and unlike kaiju in the past that have completely turned to ash, he turns back into human, weakened and expecting a final blow. Tsurumaru approaches him, and with a lift of his sword... he stabs the sand next to Bjorn, offering him a hand up.

BJร–RN THE FEARLESS HAS BEEN SPARED.

The atmosphere in the rift begins to change and while it is still heavy and dangerous, it feels lighter than it was before. The pressure begins to lessen and the Outsiders will begin to feel themselves floating up to what can only be described as the "surface" for lack of a better word. It is a slow process though, so there is still some time to explore the Rift sea.

Besides the sunken ships and kaiju remains, they can also find what appears to be manmade structures. There are marble columns lying on their sides and broken statues from various countries of origin. They can also find the remains of old houses from a bygone era mixed with modern ones, all in states of total disrepair. Someone may even find a twisted oil rig or airplane in the ruins. It seems like there is something down here from not just around the world but also across time.

Suddenly, the ground begins to shake like it did back at the warehouse district. They must get back to the surface quickly before they fall even deeper into the Rift. Fortunately, it should be easier to "float" back to the "surface." It gets easier the higher up they go and eventually, they'll see a "ceiling" above them with shimmering, colorful lights like stars above them.

Once they break through the surface, they'll find themselves in the middle of Tokyo Bay. It looks like those lights were the neon colors of Neo Tokyo. The coastguard has ships already deployed to try and recover them. They'll toss lifevests and sea rings while deploying inflatable rafts to help them until they can be pulled out of the water.

When they are finally safe and sound aboard the coast guard ships, they can catch their breath. Those who look into the dark water below them will see only still darkness. LILITH reports that a Rift had emerged in this exact area but is now mostly sealed up. They'll want a full report later but for now, it's best to get back to shore and rest.

โ–ถ 005. To Our Heroes XOXO

With the Rift mostly sealed up and the citizens once again celebrating their relief at LILITH and the Outsiders doing their part to protect the average citizen, the outpouring of love and devotion begins.

It's all thanks to the Outsiders that they are saved once again and can return to their normal lives. The glitches and hallucinations that had plagued the city the entire month are no longer a problem for most. Some still experience some lingering effects but it's nothing that a quick security upgrade and some troubleshooting can't fix. By the end of the month, everyone will really be back to normal.

In the meantime, Outsiders might begin to find letters, parcels and gifts left outside the base. They range in size, type and expense, with each Outsider having a solid base of fanatics who want to thank them for their hard work. The unluckier of Outsiders might find that some of their fan mail leans towards the obsessive, while others will have pictures drawn in childrenโ€™s hand thanking them for their hard work and saving them.

The caretakers in the base do their best to deliver each gift to their proper destination, but you might end up being one of the few who accidentally gets a gift thatโ€™s meant for someone else. Hopefully, you know all your fellow Outsiderโ€™s codenames, otherwise it might be a guessing game trying to figure out who it belongs to and return itโ€ฆ Or you could just keep it for yourself. Whoโ€™s going to know?

Every single Outsider also received a card from LILITH themselves, with someone clearly putting a lot of effort into making them. Theyโ€™re all personalised, at least, and come with a handful of chocolates in various cute animal shapes. Eating these chocolates may leave some Outsiders desperate for a little more human connection, seeking out their nearest and dearest to share their sweeter emotions.

โ–ถ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to the conclusion to our February event! Just as with January, this event is relevant to the overarching plot. We hope you enjoy it! Thank you all for casting your vote and choosing to spare Bjorn. We were not expecting to have players vote and assumed one person would be deciding what to do, but we loved this idea. More about his outcome and how he will effect the plot will be seen in future posts.

โ–ถ 001. A Thing About Machines.

After an eventful start to the New Year, everyone hopes for a moment to catch their breath and relax. However, it appears that rest and relaxation isn't in the cards for the agents of LILITH. The technical issues that caused the information leak at the end of the month not only continue but seem to be getting worse on base.

Everyone is busy trying to respond to emergencies and inconveniences. Sometimes the indoor heating system randomly turns off turning the base into a giant walk-in refrigerator overnight but on other days, it gets cranked up to turn the base into a massive sauna. The elevators constantly malfunction so they suddenly drop, rise rapidly, or stop all together with people still inside them. It's so frequent, everyone is advised to use the stairs to get around the base but even then, the lights flicker in hallways and even worse, the electronic locks and opening mechanisms on the doors keep glitching.

The door malfunctions are especially inconvenient. The Outsiders will have to struggle to maintain their privacy because the doors are prone to randomly opening throughout the day and night, giving everyone full views inside and allowing anyone to walk in and out.

The malfunctions aren't just limited to the building itself. Hummingbird drones malfunction. They imprint on random people, suddenly fall from the sky, and some of them even become hostile. While they are small and can't cause much harm, no one really wants to get hit in the face by a small ball of metal going at high speed. Even the cleaning and service robots around base are glitching. They make messes around the base or enter random rooms to rearrange things. LILITH technicians and engineers suggest turning them off but somehow and for some reason, everything turns back on randomly.

Everything electrical seems to be malfunctioning in some way or another and the Outsiders themselves are no exception. Those with style upgrades and cybernetic enhancements may also experience glitching. Even those who have opted out of these upgrades and improvements aren't completely spared because everyone has received some baseline tech upgrades. Outsiders may experience eye fatigue and blurred or glitchy vision in the eye with their implant. The payment chip in their wrists may also glitch. For those who are unfortunate, payments will be declined and all of their savings may disappear but for those much more fortunate, they may suddenly find themselves striking rich. You probably shouldn't touch any money that appears from unknown sources but who is going to stop you?

โ–ถ 002. The Stranger from the Rift.

Despite everything going on, their jobs must resume. The base is abuzz with news about the mysterious stranger that was recovered from Fuji. There are tests that need to be done and everyone is hopeful they'll get answers. Who is he? Where is he from? And what can they learn?

The stranger from the rift is impossible to understand. They've managed to confirm he is speaking Old Norse but all of it is mixed with what seems to be complete and utter nonsense. They believe this is a result of being subjected to extremely high levels of Rift energy. Itโ€™s so much so, that LILITH canโ€™t track outside rift energy on base, and triangulating future Kaiju attacks is becoming more and more difficult, even for LILITH branches outside of Neo-Tokyo. The systems are just too glitchy. They theorize he came from the very same type of Rifts that kaiju emerge from but can't understand how he survived. Those levels are usually enough to kill or totally corrupt most humans. While this stranger appears to be physically whole, his mind appears fractured.

All of this is complicated by the fact that he has been so saturated by the Rift, he literally emits it. He's practically a radioactive man and getting too close to him results in interviewers feeling sick from rift poisoning. Medical robots are used to treat him to minimize exposure. However, due to the technical issues on base, the robots keep failing. He also attacks the robots, causing damage to them and himself. They completely shut down around him and it forces LILITH's operatives to treat him in person.

Fortunately, thanks to efforts over the winter season, the LILITH suits have been upgraded to protect wearers much better than before. Still, it is not advised to spend too much time around him because while they can protect from Rift poisoning, they cannot protect the normal researchers and doctors from his physical attacks.

Researchers and doctors get little information from him. They learn that he was condemned to death for killing his father, and that he escaped during his execution. Heโ€™s a weapons master, as evidenced by the number of weapons, and a warrior of some renown. When idle, he often repeats the name Blรฒm, over and over again, and the doctors have been able to figure out that she was a lover of some sort. Thanks to the investigations from the outsiders, they were able to piece together a good big about this man, but more importantly โ€“ that the rift has infected him. He can heal from any injury, and his blood is radioactive. Itโ€™s all confounding them, as clearly heโ€™s human, and they want to helpโ€ฆ but what can they do?

In a last ditch effort to get information, the Outsiders will be invited to give it a shot. Unlike the normal researchers, the Outsiders have combat experience and can defend themselves. They are told to suit up and try to get more information from him. He may just be one man but Outsiders will find that he is a handful. He appears to be skilled in combat, strong, quick, and unpredictable. While he is manageable, the Outsiders are urged to avoid harming him.

While they will be protected by their suits, the technical issues plaguing the base will continue to cause problems during interrogation: Outsiders will experience vision problems and headaches if they spend too long with him. After they finish, they will have to report their findings and conditions to LILITH researchers and health experts.

โ–ถ 003. Containment Breech.

About a week into February, Outsiders will awaken in the middle of the night to the base in a state of chaos. Alarms and sirens go off and everyone is ordered to search the base because a subject has escaped. It won't take long to learn who (or rather, who) the subject in question is: Bjorn.

It appears that in the middle of the night, the quarters he was contained in experienced a total system failure. He was able to escape containment, disarm the guards, and leave the base. Using broken footage from cameras and security logs, they estimate he's been gone for about three hours. They are optimistic that he couldn't have gotten far in the city but soon, the sun rises and morning comes to the city, and he is nowhere to be found.

Bjรถrn is missing in Neo Tokyo. They aren't lacking clues either. Wherever he goes, he leaves a trail of clues that he was around. Clothes and grocery stores are broken into in an attempt to gain supplies. Various public security officers and gangs around the city report getting into fights with a wild man. In particular, newly spliced individuals are attacked at a higher rate โ€“ particularly those who have spliced with prey animals, such as deer, rabbits, and livestock. Using CCTV cameras and witness reports, Outsiders learn he has been all over the city. He seems to be traveling through subway tunnels and sewers while also hiding out in abandoned buildings aboveground.

Wherever he goes, trouble follows. Cars malfunction, lights explode, cameras shut off, and it quickly becomes obvious that Bjorn was the source of all of the glitches and tech problems on base. Now that he is out, the problems have spread throughout the city. Outsiders will be asked to either help mitigate the damage, or help LILITH in tracking him down. Helping to direct traffic around affected areas, keep the peace around destroyed public works, or even calm down locals, itโ€™s all necessary. In addition, looking for clues either aboveground or in the sewer system will be necessary, especially because itโ€™s becoming more and more clear: he poses a clear and present danger.

โ–ถ 004. Dream of Electronic Kaiju.

As the city devolves into chaos, reports of a new phenomenon begin to emerge. Residents begin to report problems with their implants. Their ocular implants keep glitching, resulting in blurred vision and seeing strange visions. They also begin to report headaches, hearing voices, and having strange dreams.

It isn't just the civilians reporting these strange issues. Outsiders will also begin to experience some of the same symptoms.

The implants start glitching when youโ€™re looking at another outsider, you might see a warped and corrupted version of them. Maybe itโ€™s them if they remain in Neo-Tokyo for decades, or maybe itโ€™s a vision of their eventual future back home. It can be a good potential future, or a bad one, it seems that the AI system makes up all kinds of hallucinations about the outsiders, and it can be invented wholecloth, or it can be something that will happen. The different visions of others can be difficult to handle, especially in large groups of people, where Outisdersโ€™ implants will start to go haywire, maybe even combining or corrupting between different people. Maybe fates will be swapped, maybe youโ€™ll see your loved one subjected to your own fate, but with the way the edges of your vision seem to darken, and the way you can see small pixelated glitches, itโ€™s still not real. That doesnโ€™t make it any easier to look at.

Eventually, the implants start to make stronger hallucinations. You might pour a drink into a cup that doesnโ€™t exist, leading soda to splash all over the place. Maybe you put your hand down on a countertop thatโ€™s actually a burner. Pick up a book that doesnโ€™t exist, or walk down a hallway that turns out to be a solid wall. Maybe you turn into your room, but itโ€™s the wrong wing of the dormitories, or you turn the shower to hot, but itโ€™s ice cold. That cute dog on the street? Thatโ€™s a Timonsuta that escaped the local kaiju cafe, and itโ€™s angry. Be careful, because the implants are starting to make it difficult to differentiate fact from fiction, and the longer it goes on, the more Outsiders will have to rely on their memories to remember how to get around.

The worst, though, comes at night. Visions play through your mind, thanks to your glitchy implants. Visions of a future for your world that looksโ€ฆ a lot like this one. Destruction, death. Kaiju attacks, people running in fear. A vision of your world in danger, falling to the same apocalypse that youโ€™ve all been fighting to stop. Maybe you see loved ones from home, who you thought were safeโ€ฆ but are they? Kaiju of all kinds rip through worlds, homes, and people. You can try to force yourself awake from this nightmare, but the lingering vision of watching it all burn doesnโ€™t dispel itself quite so easily.

โ–ถ 005. A Bounty for You.

It doesn't take long for word to get out on the streets. However, the average person still does not grasp what has truly happened. Most people are aware that LILITH has lost something from the base but given the reports of a strange man, everyone assumes it is just a high criminal of some sort. Some even say it might be a terrorist. Whoever it is, it is clear they are a threat to public security and while many are fearful, there are always those who will use disaster to their advantage.

Some of the gangs in Neo Tokyo put out a bounty on the mysterious man. Their plan is to capture him and force LILITH to pay a ransom to get him back. Theyโ€™re painfully aware of the strength that LILITH has had lately thanks to the hard work of the Outsiders, and they want a piece of it for themselves, the criminal underworld consistently bubbling with the want to be stronger.

It doesnโ€™t stop at the usual, gangs of people harassing regular citizens and demanding that they give over items or valuables. Outsiders might walk through the streets and hear the odd sound of a chimera attacking someone, or feel a knife pressed to their back if a misfortunate villain tries their luck. Rival gangs break out into fights on the streets, an all out civil war between some of the more dominant groups, each shouting to the other that they have the missing man, and theyโ€™ll get their rewards.

Do they actually have him? Itโ€™s hard to say. There are rumours of him being seen here and there, though many of them donโ€™t lead to anything real. Some of the captured prisoners might be able to be coerced into sharing what they know, whispers of sightings and particular bosses having a new guest in their homes, but thereโ€™s rarely anything conclusive.

Fear is possessing Neo Tokyo, and they turn to their Angels to help them.

โ–ท STRANGER FROM THE RIFT: PART 1
CONTENT WARNINGS: severe weather, possible frostbite/hypothermia

โ–ถ 001. CAVEDIVING.

Itโ€™s been a cold and rough few days on various areas of Mt. Fuji as LILITH staff continue their attempts to rescue those who have been snowed in by a kaijuโ€™s ice powers. After a valiant effort, all teams that have been snowed into their teamโ€™s respective cabins and those also stuck at the 5th Station will be rescued. However, the entire mountain continues to be covered in snow; various buildings and civilization continue to be hidden under snow, and Japanโ€™s disaster relief team will be around to help anyone else not affiliated with LILITH. Itโ€™s the Outsidersโ€™ job to find the kaiju before it causes more threats, after all.

Thanks to all of the clues that have been uncovered and the tracking efforts of the Outsiders, they will be able to narrow down a possible path to follow to lead to the kaiju responsible for all of the snow and ice. Chances are high that it will lead to a breakthrough regarding the strange anomalies around Mt. Fuji.

The journey is largely uneventful in the sense that they won't encounter any kaiju or dangerous wildlife. Though, it's still a battle against the elements. The Outsiders will have to push through heavy snow and ice and while cold winds bite at them. There is a high risk of hypothermia and everyone is encouraged to stick together and stay warm. Those with healing and support abilities will be encouraged to keep an eye on their fellow Outsiders; those with warming and fire abilities will find their powers are helpful in this regard.

On top of the weather, the rift effects also become much worse and stronger the further along they go. Reports suggest they are approaching a rift, and everyone is reminded that if they begin to experience severe rift poisoning effects, they have a limited supply of the newly created anti-rift medication they can use. This medication was created recently, and they have not yet made enough to meet the supply and demand, but itโ€™s something! Outsiders may have to draw straws or something similar to obtain this medication fairlyโ€ฆ unless someone is willing to share.

The stronger the rift effects get, the more Outsiders will start to seeโ€ฆ shades. Shadows in the snow and ice. Is it someone from the past? Something from your future? A person, or a laugh, or a familiar sound. The closer to the top Outsiders get, the more the biting cold sinks into your bones, and Outsiders may find their fingers and toes coated with ice if they arenโ€™t careful, and the colder they are, the more those apparitions will try to pull them out and redirect them back down. Almost as ifโ€ฆthey arenโ€™t supposed to be here, and something wants them to leave. The further they go, Outsiders will move more slowly, though if they group together, they speed up. Cooperation and collaboration will be the key to making it to the top.

Eventually, everyone will find something that isn't marked on any maps or reports. There is a large opening for a cave. It is dark and appears to go in deep, and the Rift effects are especially potent here. Those who have taken a dose of the anti-rift medication will find that it is enough for them to endure the worst of the effects. Those who have not taken it are urged to do so now.

The inside of the cave is cold and covered with ice, but the lack of wind provides some relief for the Outsiders. They will have to explore the new cave system, which comes with all of the dangers expected of cave diving. The ground is slippery with ice, there are sudden drops that lead to jagged rocks and ice shards, and icy stalactites randomly crash down and shatter. If you can ignore the dangers, though, the cave system is beautiful with multicolored ice as a result of the frozen rift-contaminated water. Maybe take a break and enjoy the view with a friend or someone special.

โ–ถ 002. JOTNAR APPEARS.

Deep within the caves, the Jotnar lurks. As Outsiders explore deeper into the caves, theyโ€™ll find strange symbols scratched into the walls, slash marks and scorch marks from previous battles. This is not the first time that this kaiju has been discovered, but though there are old blood stains on the path deeper into the cave, the only bones found are those of prey animalsโ€ฆ and humans. Then, you find it. In the back of this cave, its hands bloody from hunting, and the body of a Serow discarded to one side, drug down for later.

Itโ€™s large, and one might be tempted to ask how it even made it within the cave, but the ceilings are high enough that this large, yeti-like kaiju seems to fill the space, but barely. The advantage that the Outsiders have is that this space is still cramped for the creature. It canโ€™t swing wildly, or move well. Fighting it in the cave seems to be the best option, but it is not without its dangers. Because the Jotnar is so close, it can easily reach out and grab outsiders, and fighting at a distance is difficult, as it can reach nearly the length of the cave area. If that wasnโ€™t bad enough, every time it hits a wall or the floor, icy stalactites crash to the ground. Moving slowly, it can step on Outsiders as well, and when it breathes out, its breath is an icy wind that fills the cave with a chill that can slow outsiders down and stop them temporarily in their tracks.

In addition, if Outsiders do not move fast enough, the chill wind will sink into their bones, and while they take time to warm up, they may receive visions of other times or places in this world. Perhaps itโ€™s a vision of a time in England, prior to the schism that left Eadmund and Gwen as enemies rather than friend; or perhaps a New Vegas when it was thriving and filled with gambling and showgirls; or even a Kyoto before the destruction that left it abandoned. Comment here for a rift-effect associated with the fight.

Warming up seems to be encouraged with physical contact from other Outsiders. Reach out to a friend or frenemy, and help get them back on track!

Eventually, enough attacks cut through the Jotnarโ€™s tough, furry hide, and it begins to collapse to the ground with an angry, low bellow, before it finally, finally stops moving. This kaiju will be evaluated later, because something else has arrived!

โ–ถ 003. LAND-HO!

When the battle is over, everything is silent in the cave system and there is a moment to catch their breath.

But it's just for a moment because suddenly the entire cave begins to shake and rattle. Stalactites crash down from the ceiling, and there's a strange sound coming from the darkness. Watch for falling ice and rocks! It could severely injure anyone beneath it. It sounds like something large and heavy is scraping against the ice and stone. Something is happening and the Outsiders are urged to investigate in case there's another threat.

They won't have to go far because from the shadows, a giant wooden ship emerges. The ship is severely damaged and falling apart but most importantly, they have to wonder... where did it come from? It's too large to have sailed into the cave system and the style looks like something from Europe instead of Japan. It looks old. Those with history knowledge will be encouraged to board the ship and examine anything in the ship for further investigating that could indicate the time and place of this ship. (Please see top level for history investigators.)

Below the main deck, there is an armory. Those with weapon handling and knowledge will be encouraged to board the ship and enter the armory. They will be free to take the weapons they find and keep what they discover as a token after turning in a report of their findings. (Please see top level for weapon handlers.)

From the ship's deck, something howls and leans over the rails. They scream in their direction and tumble overboard, crashing onto the icy stone floor. Those who run up to investigate will findโ€ฆ. a man...!?

The man appears entirely human, with a great, long beard and braids in his auburn hair. From the fall, he has a head injury and is entirely unconscious. Although it may be tempting to heal him, LILITH will encourage he not be tampered with, as he exerts a large amount of rift energy. Staff decked in proper safety attire will obtain him for examination to give him traditional medical care. Characters who have a moderate level of medical knowledge or experience may assist Dr. Spim on a medical aircraft that will return to base. (Please see top level for examiners.) Any findings will be encouraged to be shared with other Outsiders in whatever way possible.

For now, Outsiders will return to base safely until LILITH has confirmed further identity of this stranger from the rift.

โ–ถ 004. INFORMATION LEAK.

Once LILITH returns and after one night of warm rest, something seems to be wrong with the power at LILITH headquarters. Small electrical issues occur. For the most part, they are minor things like flickering lights or the heat suddenly going off in the middle of the night. Sometimes the network lags and freezes, making it inconvenient to get work done or even do leisurely activities like watch videos or listen to music. At worst, one might find themselves locked outside of their rooms when the autolocks suddenly fail.

LILITH sends engineers to check out the systems and as far as they can tell, it looks like an issue with some of the breakers. They wonder if they were installed correctly when the base was remodeled last year or if the cold is affecting something. Despite the inconveniences, they are solvable and LILITH sends out messages to everyone to report any issues they encounter to the engineering department and, as a precaution, avoid using too many electrical devices at once.

It looks like someone was using the hairdryer while microwaving popcorn in the middle of the night, because everyone will wake up to find telltale signs of an overnight power outage. Clocks are stopped and blinking at random times, the heat is off, and while the lights and everything else are working, they are slow to start. Even worse, some people might find they are suddenly inundated with message alerts. Strange.

Somehow, everyone's personal information has been posted on the network. It appears to be random so some people have more information posted than others. Outsiders can find full government names, birth dates, contact information, medical records, shopping history, and most interestinglyโ€“ at least three random facts. It's a serious security breach but if they look closely, they might realize that something seems off with some of the information. Is that really your name? You don't remember ever buying those things! And at least one of these facts is an outright lie.

While cyber security tries to find out what caused this breach, Outsiders will have to deal with the aftermath!

HOW TO PLAY:
1. Pick the textarea that is under your TEAM NAME and fill out the spaces.
2. You can decide how accurate the information is.
3. The ABOUT YOU section is essentially 2 Truths, 1 Lie so post 2 true facts and 1 lie!
You can use the code below, but please don't feel pressured to use it. You can be creative.

โ–ถ 005. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our mid-month event! Typically, we do team building exercises for this kind of event, but instead, this event is relevant to the overarching plot. We hope you enjoy it!

All tags on this log are worth 2 points and will count towards January AC.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. CAVEDIVING: Treking to the top of the mountain, Outsiders are struggling with stronger rift effects, hallucinations, and trying to stay warm. Once near the top, they finally find a large cave, and Outsiders need to keep moving inside, to find the source of the rift corruption.
2. JOTNAR FIGHT: Are you trapped in the cave with the Jotnar, or is the Jotnar trapped in the cave with you? Outsiders need to fight to kill the Jotnar, but the fight comes with its own dangers.
3. LAND-HO!: Though the Jotnar is defeated, not all is over with, as a ship crashes through the rift before it closes, and it is an old thing... And also there's someone aboard?? Alive???
4. INFORMATION LEAK: When outsiders arrive back to LILITH base, they find that things aren't working like they should. Doors aren't closing, and private information is getting posted to the network, both truths and lies.

โ–ถ 001. DUE FOR AN UPGRADE. (ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT.)

After a busy round of assignments, the Outsiders might want to rest but almost immediately, another call comes in. This time, the Alexandria Institute reaches out to LILITH. Over the year, they have been making progress with their research and they heard LILITH has done the same. They think this would be an excellent time to collaborate.

Upon arrival in Alexandria, the Outsiders will be given a chance to rest. The same as last time, they'll be housed in the student dormitories at the University of Alexandria. Each room has 2-4 beds depending on the room with a common shared area on each floor that also includes a kitchen. Unlike last time, the kitchens are stocked with more than just energy drinks and energy bars. This time, they can find coffees, teas, local and a rotation of snacks supplied by staff.

After a night of rest and catching up, they will be asked to come to the labs in the morning. They'll meet with some of the engineers. They want to take a look at their plugsuits and add some upgrades. They recovered some files from the lost research facility in Greece and believe they have a way to create a lighter and more resistant material for their suits. However, their current fabric blend compromises its integrity against physical attacks. They are trying to remedy this. Outsiders will be provided with multiple plugsuit variants and asked to test them in the field later. Plugsuits can have a mix and match of some flaws and weaknesses: Weak to rift corruption, strong to rift corruption, easily torn, repulses touch by anyone including allies, a heavily tinted helmet, sound-dampening, enhanced tracking and vision modes (infrared and night vision, and a mode to pick out where rift-energy is strongest), as well as some suits may come equipped with a pair of wheels in the feet; along with small rockets for propulsion. Yes, someone tried to install rocket-powered heelies.

Additionally, they will be provided with some new weapons... They can test these out in virtual reality simulations.

Some of the items that outsiders can be equipped with are:
Anti-Gravity Boots - These will allow Outsiders to push off and hover wherever they can push. Stronger characters can move further, weaker characters shorter distances. Turning them off results in an outsider falling, but you can turn it on and off for a controlled landing.
Stun Shield - Shield that protects the wearer and when hit, will stun most attackers for a short duration. For extremely large attackers, may deliver a zap instead.
Cloaking device - A chameleon-like device that allows the wearer to blend in when still. When moving, they may be perceivable, but only if someone is *really* looking for them.
Nausea baton - whacking this against a human or a small kaiju will render it ill, and cause it to keel over. Justโ€ฆ clear out quickly!
Grenades - Outsiders will be equipped with a variety of concussive, and EMP grenades to test their efficacy on different Kaiju.
High-Velocity Sword - This sword is fitted with a blade that vibrates, letting it cut through tougher hides and metal. Outsiders are asked to test these only on Kaiju.
After they have been equipped, transport will be provided to send them to a place where they know they can test their suits out in an area with high Rift activity and kaiju threats: Iraq.

โ–ถ 002. GHOSTS OF THE PAST. (BAGDADH, IRAQ.)

Since the events in Iraq, the area where Outsiders were kidnapped to seemingly hasnโ€™t changed much. The rift energy here is high, and Outsiders are recommended to keep their plugsuits on and active the entire time. Equipped with their weapons that they obtained in Egypt, there are a plethora of dangerous Kaiju now drawn to the ruins near the caverns that were once occupied by the rift-corrupted Outsiders.

As they step into these ruins, which are situated over the caves where the corrupted Outsiders once were โ€“ the rift corruption still hits you through your plugsuit like a wave of heavy clouds. Outsiders are protected, but the longer you linger, the worse it gets. Apparitions, memories, that sickly feeling that turns your stomach. You feel it, the doom that is coming to humanity. This is where the rift had corrupted Outsiders for a long time, and that feeling of doom is here. You can almost understand what they saw, exposed to it. Itโ€™s been left to fester and grow in the caves, and now itโ€™s looking for a target. Their target might just be you.

The ghosts of the (Christmas) past linger in these cloudy, rift-corrupted ruins, and even moreso if you venture close to the caves. The apparitions of your past are here. Do you hear them? Do they call out to you? Will you call out to them? Outsiders will see visions of the past, and perhaps their companions will see them too. These could be people from the Outsiders' worlds that are important to them, or dark memories long sense gone. But are they real, or no? They mustnโ€™t be, right?

So why do they reach out for you? Why do their fingers not pass through your arm, when they grab you, and try to pull you into memory with them? Do you need to relive your past? Will you drag your companions with you?

If you make it through the clouds of memory, there are kaiju who occupy these ruins, making it their home. They venture into the desert as well, but in here, this is their territory. You can find Persian leopard kaiju and mongoose kaiju; but just as dangerous, a ghostly, ephemeral hand will erupt from where the rift energy is the strongest, and try to drag Outsiders back into the rifts. The corrupting energy is strong, and the closer one gets, theโ€ฆmore reasonable it seems, doesnโ€™t it?

Wouldnโ€™t it be easier to just give in? Or will an ally reach out and pull you free? Outsiders can break the spell with one another by sharing a memory from their time with LILITH and running from the high rift energy once the trance is broken. It may take many memories to have an Outsider come to their senses once again.

โ–ถ 003. HAPPY HOLIDAYS. (MEXICO CITY, MEXICO.)

Mexico City comes alive during the holidays. This time of the year, itโ€™s only slightly cooler, hovering around seventy degrees, and the city is as alive and vibrant as when the Outsiders visited recently. Flowers and greenery still dot every bit of the city, and the people are thriving. Now that the Kaiju is done with, the city seems like itโ€™s back to its old, cheery self. Even moreso now with the holidays! With the Outsiders back, locals will hand out small gifts of food like tamales, homemade chocolates or baked goods, or small candies. Street vendors can be found serving seasonal drinks like champurrado and atole alongside other local foods.

Coming to Mexico seems to be mostly a breather, and theyโ€™re put up in local hotels to relax and enjoy the warm weather, before returning to chilly Neo Tokyo. There arenโ€™t many threats these days, though when Outsiders visit things certainly seemโ€ฆ amorous, donโ€™t they? People holding hands on the streets, and even leaning against one another. People seem in good spirits about it, but the keen-eyed will notice that many in the street seem to come together underโ€ฆ a certain bright, cheery plant. Vibrant, neon leaves, white berries that almost seem translucent in the sunlight, and a sheen that almost seems like psychedelic colors running through the veins of the plant.

Itโ€™s Mistletoe, of course! And it seems like itโ€™s rift corrupted. Maybe thatโ€™s the culprit for all the amorous acts? Outsiders are free to try and remove it, or even track down the source โ€“ which seems to be a line of the plant growing from deeper in the jungle, attaching to other plants and overtaking their roots โ€“ and locals will be grateful for the help. Be careful, howeverโ€ฆ

Finding oneself underneath the plant with another will leave the outsiders compelled to not only stay put, but being close will fill outsiders with a sense of belonging. The person next to you looks rather nice, donโ€™t they? Is there a blush to their cheeks? Outsiders who kiss or cuddle under the mistletoe will also be compelled to stay with one another, and not only that, will start to feel agitated and paranoid if they arenโ€™t constantly touching. Whether thatโ€™s holding hands, hugging, orโ€ฆ something else, itโ€™s up to you! Effects seem to fade after a few days, but in the meantime, itโ€™s best to hope youโ€™re stuck with someone you can stand!

โ–ถ 004. WINTER IS COMING. (WINDSOR, ENGLAND.)

The return to Windsor is far more peaceful than the first time around, and the differences in the castle are immediate, even though it has only been a short time since the Outsiders were invited to stay.

Most of the damage from the battle has been repaired, and the castle is bustling with life. Many of the โ€˜rebelsโ€™ who had been part of Eadmundโ€™s group have returned to live within the walls of the keep, and the people have an aura of true joy and happiness about them, far different from the tense, edgy fear that had left things tense and awkward the first time they had arrived. The graffiti is gone, the monsters appear to have been cursed and returned to their families, and all seems peaceful.

The main attraction for Outsiders visiting England is the Winter market that has begun, spread throughout the bailey and surrounding landscape of the castle. Various goods are on sale, and the people are more than happy to bargain and trade with the organisation that had done good work in saving them. So, the question isโ€ฆ What do you want to buy?

The stalls are offering various wares, ranging from woodworking, jewellery, leather work, blown glass and precious art items. Thereโ€™s also a fair amount of food and drink on offer, from hog roasts to sausages to gin and mulled wine. If the Outsiders stop to chat with the vendors, theyโ€™ll find out that this is the first time in years that theyโ€™ve been able to run the market, and while thereโ€™s not a significant amount of goods to purchase (itโ€™s only been a few months!) thereโ€™s enough for a handful of decent winter gifts.

Anyone who might be bored with their Christmas shopping might hear some rumours of a minor kaiju hunting the livestock and stalking the forests around where the citizens live, stalking the pathways the rebels used to live. Theyโ€™ll happily share any information, should an Outsider want to hunt it, and leave the matter in their more than capable hands.

Towards the end of the month, there are whispers amongst the common folk. It might be noticeable to those Outsiders who care that both Gwen and Eadmund have been missing in action, and while no one at Windsor seems concerned, theyโ€™re giggly and coy if asked about it. They offer the reassurance that both their leaders are fine and well, but theyโ€™re otherwise occupied elsewhere at the moment. Weird.

โ–ถ 005. RIFT ANOMALY. (NEO TOKYO, JAPAN.)

As Outsiders conclude their world tour, they are given a chance to recuperate back on base. It looks like LILITH staff has decorated various common areas with holiday festivities. In the Library, Outsiders will find stockings with their CODENAME on it, but nothing will be seen inside of it (yet!) In the GREENHOUSE, LILITH staff will be seen decorating the trees and other plantlife, real and artificial alike. If you're feeling festive, why not give them a hand? Outsiders who wish to relax in the CAFETERIA will be treated to hot chocolate and other refreshments. It seems like it's going to be a sleepy rest of the year, right? At least, that is what it feels like as Outsiders head to their dorms for bed.

The next day, bright and early, an alarm goes off, awaking everyone on their oculars. SYNTHIA gives a quick message:
Image
"Attention, Angels of LILITH. Intense RIFT ENERGY has been detected around Mount Fuji. However, no rift is seen. Please co-ordinate in groups of 2-4 and take the public transportation to Mount Fuji for investigation. Please keep plugsuits and cloaking devices on at all times. Thank you."

Outsiders will be provided a high speed railway pass that takes roughly an hour directly from Shibuya to Mount Fuji. Upon arrival, they will be directed to investigate various trails of the volcano for any clues. The trails are as listed: the Yoshida Route, the Fujinomiya Route, the Gotemba Route, and the Subashiri Route. The site will be shut down from tourists and civilians and granted only access to safety personnel and LILITH crew. It is very cold this time of year, so be sure to pack accordingly. Outsiders will be given a small device that tracks RIFT ENERGY and will be instructed to find anything that has high RIFT ENERGY or looks suspicious to be brought back and analyzed. Characters can bring it to LILITH personnel at SUV stations they have around the area.

After retrieving items and turning them in, head back to base. Or maybe you want to sight see Fuji yourself? Might as well while you are here if you can bare the weather.

โ–ถ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to the Synflux World Tour part 2! Happy holidays from all of us at the Mod team, and we hope you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane! Don't forget to check in your AC, and turn in any bonus points if you would like!

We also have team building exercises started by some of your fellow outsiders to check out this month as well!

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. EGYPT: Outsiders are sent back to Egypt for some upgrades made to their plugsuits and new gear LILITH is developing to test them out.
2. IRAQ: With their new upgrades, outsiders are sent back to Iraq. There's something evil still in the ruins, something sharing awful memories. Investigate the cause, but leave before it is too late!
3. MEXICO: Rift corrupted, magical mistletoe has residents of Mexico City acting particularly jolly. Outsiders are sent to celebrate the holidays but also stabilize the mischief-causing plant by removing it from the source.
4. ENGLAND: Outsiders visit England to participate in its yearly winter marketplace, but a strange, shadowy creature that attacks at night has been prowling the area. Characters are encouraged to hunt it for the civilians' safety.
5. NEO TOKYO: Strange things happening on Mount Fuji send Outsiders to investigate various hiking routes to obtain items that seem suspicious or carry rift energy. Outsiders are encouraged to travel in 2-4 member groups and report any findings in a group chat.

โ–ถ 001. TOUR KICK OFF. (INTRODUCTION)

With the holidays just around the corner, Neo Tokyo seems to thrum with a more hopeful, different kind of life than itโ€™s seen in recent years. Food is a little more plenty, things are a little safer. Itโ€™s now been two years since LILITH and the Outsiders made their arrival in the world, and it shows. People are happier and safer, and there has been a distinct change. The impact Outsiders have had is palpable. You have done this, Outsiders. You have made the impact, and people will show their gratitude. Outsiders arenโ€™t always easily found, given that they keep those secret identities, but outsiders will find that locals have been leaving small gifts at the entrance to LILITH's base for their favorite outsiders. Things like foods, little trinkets, meaningful cards, addressed to their code names, and left with heartfelt little annotations, thanking them for saving them. Most in Neo Tokyo recognize that outsiders have been doing a great deal of work, and the gifts keep coming. LILITH will deliver them under a large, decorated tree for outsiders, labeled by code name, so outsiders might want to check back often!

But an outsiderโ€™s work is never done. While everyone else is gearing up for the holidays and New Year's, LILITH has tasks for the outsiders. This is a global organization, after all, and things have beenโ€ฆ good. Too good, perhaps? Thereโ€™s a sense that something is coming, and that Outsiders will be needed, but more importantly... Commander Yamakawa seems to be seriously considering the future of LILITH, and the future of the Outsiders. She reaches out to the Outsiders via their implants early in the month:

Image
โ€œAngels of LILITH, your impact should not be downplayed. Every choice you all have made is the reason why we have been so successful against the Kaiju threat. We donโ€™t want to lose momentum, and while you all should take time to enjoy the downtime while it lastsโ€ฆ there is more to be done, Iโ€™m afraid. The places you have been before have continued to contribute something to the cause, and we want to cement the resources before itโ€™s too late. We may need a lot more of each of them in the coming days.โ€

What does she mean by that? Well, assignments will be given out to different locations for Outsiders. Visiting different old locations can yield new possibilities, and maybe help LILITH prepare for the new year!

โ–ถ 002. THE NEON OASIS. (NEW VEGAS, USA)

Viva, New Vegas, Baby! The city is thrumming with light and life as always. Itโ€™s getting darker earlier, and the city bursts to life spectacularly in the evenings. Lights, excitement, digital drone displays and large holographic billboards that sell everything, from showgirls to performance-enhancing drugs, casinos, and fight nights. The outlandish casinos on the strip are ever-changing and ever-expanding, creating new sights and works of architectural wonder. One new hotel has been generating a great deal of excitement, promising up-close-and-personal encounters with kaiju โ€“ advertised as (mostly) safe, of course, but whatโ€™s life without a little danger? Commander Yamakawa is organizing the response, and any Outsiders who join him on this leg of the journey will find that theyโ€™ve not only gotten suites in the hotel, but themed suites. Many of which feature prominent kaiju, and some will even find some based on outsiders โ€“ particularly ones that garner a lot of attention from the public, have had heavy hits, or KOs...but really, it could be anybody. (Go wild!)

The lobby of the hotel advertises many attractions, including a kaiju โ€œzooโ€ filled with many smaller kaiju like nihonzaru, timonsutas, and some that outsiders havenโ€™t seen before โ€“ like the local Bigger-horn Sheep (not to be confused with Nevadaโ€™s state animal, the Bighorn Sheep) or the Helarctrocine, and other smaller kaiju found across what locals proudly call the โ€œWildest Westโ€. Thereโ€™s also a kaiju-themed casino, bar and restaurant โ€“ with recipes that looks suspiciously like they were influenced by a certain kaiju kafe back in LILITH headquarters. All of this seems above board, but there are a lot of people staying in the hotel โ€“ and those who go to the casino for any entertainment there will see that thereโ€™s also a lot of money exchanging hands โ€“ or wrists, as it were! They are rumbling about something happening a few nights from now. Something...big. The truly crafty or charismatic may be able to weed out that in a few nights, itโ€™s fight night. Whoโ€™s fighting? Thatโ€™s a bit more mysterious, but they encourage outsiders to stick around. โ€œItโ€™s gonna be big,โ€ they promise.

On the last night, some high-profile executives arrive fromโ€ฆ Neo Tokyo, of all places! Those whoโ€™ve been involved with some of the shadier elements in the city might even recognize a lackey or two that theyโ€™ve encountered in the past. It all speaks to somethingโ€ฆ big, like was promised. What, however, is still shrouded in mystery. That is, until the night of, when the basement arena (which is truly a massive arena underground) is opened to the public, and the main event is ready to begin. What is it? The fight of the millennia, apparently, and while this hasnโ€™t been advertised, the night of, suddenly itโ€™s clearly advertised โ€“ the Ozark Howler versus The Akumas.

At Commander Yamakawaโ€™s urging, Outsiders are asked to watch and be ready. This is illegal, but is it illegal enough to chance another international incident? The opportunity presents itself as the fighters are introduced โ€“ the Ozark Howler, a large bestial kaiju that supposedly stalks the mountains. The Akumas...theyโ€™re clearly spliced gang members, each one looks...dangerous. One crackles with electricity on his skin, another with molten cracks opening their now scale-like flesh, and another with sharp looking scales, and their body starting to lengthen, almost snake-like. The fight is caged, but not sealed, and it looks dangerous. The referee is projected via drone, and as it nears the beast, it swats the drone away, agitated and straining against the locks holding it down.

The drone sent flying, and it hits the bell in a wild tailspin, and the beast's locks release. The fight starts, and...

And...

The cage starts to lift, leaving no barrier between the crowd and the fight. The Akumas donโ€™t look surprised at all. In fact, they look ready for this, rolling their shoulders and cracking their knuckles. They take to the Howler, but lightning shoots off from one, another has a long tail that whips out, and anotherโ€™s lava is starting to seep over the stage, and into the crowd. People are starting to panic, standing, trying to force their way out, abandoning the floor, but thereโ€™s not enough exits, and intervention is required. Will you help escort people out, or are you going to take to the floor, and help incapacitate the fighters and the kaiju both?

โ–ถ 003. THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE. (BUSAN, KOREA)

For some time, outsiders have been barred from entering Korea, and for reasons that are at least...sympathetic. The loss of so many people left the government somewhat tense, and nervous, and quite frankly? Hurt. Time, however, heals all wounds, and now that they have time to grieve, the government is opening themselves up to the Angels of LILITH once again. Although they promise that Outsiders wonโ€™t need to be doing much, and in fact, they should enjoy the sights and sounds of Busan while they are in town again.

Seok Dang is with the outsiders when they travel, and some will notice that while the man is generally jovial and in good humor on LILITHโ€™s base, thereโ€™s something a bit more somber to the man, given that this is his first time back since the incident, he looks a bit like heโ€™s just barely keeping his composure. Over the implants, outsiders will catch that he even sounds a little gruffer than usual; or more accurately, like he's trying not to sound choked up.

Image
โ€œNow donโ€™t go causing too much trouble, alright? Letโ€™s have a good time, and see me if you want to know the best places to eat!โ€

Outsiders are treated with respect, but a bit more formally than last time, and thereโ€™s still a slight chill from most locals as they explore the city. They wonโ€™t get treated poorly, but people are certainly nervous, and maybe still a little suspicious that things will go awry yet again. Though the city is electric and lit, there are still some districts in disrepair, and intrepid outsiders can learn from locals that a lot of mid-sized, local kaiju are encroaching on the rubble โ€“ including several Xiphosuransus โ€“ looking for food or, territorial fights, or otherwise. But the locals arenโ€™t without their own resources, and getting a chance to deal with the problem on their own means that theyโ€™ve come up with a...unique way of handling the encroaching kaiju threat. Across several points are several speaker systems set up. Apparently, most of the kaiju that are making their way across some of the rubble are easily repelled by sound and light.

Outsiders interested in cleanup will be given an option to test out one of these speaker systems. They have sound boards, of course, and an array of sirens, calls, and other options. However, some outsiders will notice that there are other ways to deflect these kaiju, as some local bands use these sound systems as a way to both get in their practice and help the city! Music seems to be the most effective in getting them to move away, and outsiders are welcome to join in, either with the bands, or on their own to help repel the encroaching kaiju. Outsiders can also venture out to just fight them, if they want too. Messier, but just as good. After all, itโ€™s a great way to build goodwill with the locals to help out!

Outsiders are also welcomed to enjoy some of the local concerts. Popular idols and indie groups can be found throughout the city performing at concerts that begin in the evening and go on until sunrise. The shows are full productions with flashing lights and firework shows. Concert goers can also collect lightsticks that come in various designs and colors. They're trendy but they can also be used to ward off weaker kaiju or signal for help in case of an emergency.

โ–ถ 004. THE SEQUEL NO ONE WANTED. (BRASOV, TRANSYLVANIA)

Brasov has remained as isolated as ever. Most of the villagers were eliminated in the fallout of the Outsiders' actions around Halloween last year. The children in the village were taken, and are thriving in the orphanages in Neo Tokyo, and there hasnโ€™t been much reason to return, now that the land is not quite as fertile as it had been when the Kaiju protected the land.

But one thing has still thrived, and a small group of LILITH regulars have been harvesting poppies for some time to help support LILITHโ€™s needs, such as surgeries and other reasons for painkillers. That all has seemed to go well, and Outsiders are directed to Brasov to help with the transport and protection of the fairly large poppy crop from the year. While ready for processing, the staff hasnโ€™t started to send it through, and LILITH and their staff are getting worried. Outsiders are asked to travel there, and help find out what caused the halt in materials. Dr. Spim is interested in developing new strains, and the doctor will come with the outsiders to assist with the transport, and to test the offerings for themselves.

Strangely enough, LILITHโ€™s staff are nowhere to be found when the outsiders arrive through the teleporter. The village is still decimated after the destruction a year ago, and though nature has started to encroach on the ruins, it hasnโ€™t gotten far. There are plenty of tents, but they look like they were abandoned within the past few weeks, other than the small house thatโ€™s been converted into a communications center, where eagle-eyed Outsiders will be able to notice that itโ€™s been traversed recently.

The only other structure in the area is...the castle. Looming in the distance, and the source of strife for many just over a year ago. Outsiders with tracking abilities can locate signs of travel from the village to the castle, and they are fresh signs. Following the trail, Outsiders will find a trail of mud and...blood leading into the castle. Searching deeper inside feels a bit like deja vu, some of the bodies from their last visit are still there, though rotting. The entire location smells like rot, death, and, predictably, blood. Thereโ€™s still so much blood. Outsiders will need to scour the castle, trying to find the location of the missing staff and harvest, but outsiders will find that the castle is peppered with small rituals around the castle. Some are occupied, some already hold the signs of a successful sacrifice.

Image
โ€œYouโ€™ve found what? Signs of sacrifice? Certainly they couldnโ€™t beโ€ฆ No, no that must be it. You have to find them! They might be trying to revive the Pricolii! Quickly, find the rituals and stop them, theyโ€™re trying to gather enough energy to bring it back!โ€

Outsiders will find that some rituals are currently ongoing, and much of LILITHโ€™s staff has been sacrificed or...tortured into participating, much like the outsiders before them, the cult has not changed tactics...much. Although without the Forest Lord, theyโ€™ve become slow andโ€ฆ human. Outsiders need to stop the rituals, and fast, because deep in the basement, something isโ€ฆ stirring. The longer they wait, the closer it gets, and the stronger the rift energy becomes. Quickly, Outsiders! They must be stopped!

โ–ถ 005. TRADITIONAL RESTORATION. (KYOTO, JAPAN)

For those who want to stay closer to home, an option is also provided. From LILITH's main base in Shinjuku, the Outsiders can provide support to those abroad. They will be able to work with LILITH's other agents to provide and collect information, send supplies, and coordinate the various teams around the world. If necessary, they can also serve as back-up units to provide relief to the other teams.

However, there is still work to be done within the country, too. It's been nearly two years since Kyoto's base was restored and citizens began to return to the city. The population is small but steadily growing as the area becomes more stable. What was once a city that consisted mostly of LILITH agents and researchers is now a small city where civilians can also call home.

Kyoto has always been famous for its shrines and temples, and with the New Year approaching, the locals want to restore many of them to their old glory. For the most part, they have been able to fix up the ones within the city limits where it is much safer. However, some of the shrines in the outskirts are more precarious. These are the locations they ask the Outsiders to help secure and restore.

In particular, they are asked to take back the once prestigious Fushimi Inari Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. Located in the outskirts of Kyoto, these sacred locations have been completely overrun by Nihonzaru, Marionants, and yama-kujira. Outsiders will have to clear these areas of kaiju while maintaining the integrity of the historic properties. Be careful not to destroy the buildings or gates.

As the perimeter is secured, some families will begin to venture into these areas. This will result in rest areas being set up for the Outsiders. These families take back old inns and tea houses. These accommodations are humble. They are run down, drafty, and have limited amenities but they offer everything they can to try and give the Outsiders shelter and a place to rest on their assignment. It isn't all bad, though. The traditional meals are simple but delicious and while the Outsiders do the fighting, the locals manage to clean up some of the old hot springs which they are proud to show off to guests.

โ–ถ 006. AFTERWORD.

Happy December, Outsiders! This year, Outsiders are invited to take a trip down memory lane... or experience something new. Just because it's the holidays doesn't mean everyone is taking it off, and some groups are causing as much trouble as ever.

We hope you enjoy our little trip through Synflux's past, and stay tuned for part two mid-month.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. TOUR KICKOFF: Outsiders will find that everyone in Neo Tokyo is getting ready for the holidays, and fans are leaving small gifts near LILITHโ€™s base for their favorite outsiders. Yamakawa is asking outsiders to help by traveling to prior locations to help out with some issues that are arising.
2. THE NEON OASIS First stop on our tour is New Vegas, NV! Outsiders are treated to a luxurious stay in a Kaiju-themed hotel and casino on the strip. Some may even find rooms themed around outsiders. There is a kaiju zoo, a casino, restaurant, and bar; and the entire stay culminates in a dangerous fight between some kaiju-spliced fight team and a large kaiju. Outsiders will need to help out, or help evacuate the arena!
3. THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE: Next is Busan, South Korea. The borders are now open, and South Korea seems poised to welcome Outsiders back. Seok Dang travels with the outsiders, and he seems to be grateful to be home. In the absence of outsiders, locals have taken to belting it out with music and sound experimentation to drive Kaiju away, and it seems to be working! Outsiders are welcome to come try and join in.
4. THE SEQUEL NO ONE WANTED: Last on our tour is Brasov, Transylvania. Some staff have held back to keep growing the materials necessary for the painkillers LILITH uses, but after some radio silence, Outsiders have been sent to check out whatโ€™s going on. Looking in, itโ€™s apparent that something is very, very wrong. Some cultists snuck away after the attacks, and have been using LILITHโ€™s scientists as sacrifices to try and bring back their Forest Lord. Outsiders need to stop them pronto, before we have another Vampire Invasion on our hands!
5. TRADITIONAL RESTORATION: For those who choose to stay in Japan, they can provide assistance from Neo Tokyo or head out to Kyoto to help with restoration efforts. The locals ask the Outsiders to help take back the city outskirts. Fight kaiju while protecting the historical landmarks. Locals will show gratitude by inviting them to their reclaimed inns, shops, and even hot springs.

โ–ถ 001. WINNER'S CIRCLE.

The return to Neo Tokyo comes with an odd sense of relief that LILITHโ€™s angels are back to normal, but with trepidation as well. With the new danger of splicing rumbling throughout Neo-Tokyo, there is a sense that Outsiders will be busy for weeks to come on any number of missions as LILITH works to clamp down on any dangers to the populace at large. From their base, they can do little more than send Outsiders to deal with it, but the effect has been large. The rumbles and questions about these Angels, and thereโ€™s been more talk than usual about where Outsiders could have come from.

But thatโ€™s all outside of LILITHโ€™s base. Itโ€™s fall, so LILITHโ€™s cafeteria is thrumming with excitement as November rolls around, it's late in the harvest season, and although food can be scarce, LILITH wants everyone to partake in a little fall cheer. Everything from pumpkin croquettes to matsutakes to saury is on display. Local fall delicacies are found all over the base, and if you have reason to visit Dr. Spim, he'll have a bowl of ginnan nuts for outsiders to try.

And, of course, thereโ€™s always celebrations to be had for the Outsiders returning victorious!

GOOD JOB:
FORGERY & MONSTER (K.O.)
BLACK MIST (600) & TWISTERIA (550)

Thereโ€™s always a rush of excitement as new products or trends hit the shelves and the streets after a recent kaiju defeat, and with another one defeated, the citizens are excited to follow the trends of their favorite Outsiders!

Young folks are always excited to promise the world to their young lovers, and what better way to show your affection with gifts? Promises of future marriage among teenagers and young adults alike has shifted recently to includeโ€ฆ swords, of all shapes and sizes. Katanas, Naginatas, even Kamas and Tachis. Never let it be said that a trend canโ€™t be capitalized on to its fullest extent. The most curious facet about them, is that they all have keepsakes hidden in the handle, such as promise rings, gemstones, or other trinkets and treasures that are significant to their young love. Most have a compartment hidden in there, and itโ€™s a game for young lovers to try to guess what their love hid in the handle, but promise not to peek until their wedding day. The compartments are sealed, and one truly wonโ€™t know precisely how thoughtful their partner is, until they open it. Or they break up, and look anyway. Itโ€™s hard resisting the temptation, but itโ€™s already becoming a sign of commitment (in the last few weeks) to resist the urge to open it up and look inside.

Pets arenโ€™t always the easiest to find among the majority of Neo Tokyoโ€™s citizens, but humans always want to have a little creature to take care of. Thatโ€™s why local developers are always building and improving by making more and more advanced mechanical pets, and if thereโ€™s one thing these manufacturerโ€™s know, itโ€™s how to make a trend. After the most recent kaiju battle, one company in particular โ€“ SoftSquares โ€“ has made an interesting new mechanical pet, and they come in sets of 3, of all things! The instructions always say that pets shouldnโ€™t be adopted alone, even mechanical ones, and these seem to need to come in sets of three. The label promises that they are parts of an even greater whole, but nobody has been able to figure out what that means, yet.

The more fashion conscious of denizens have taken to a new trend: a good number of the local youth have taken to wearing contacts or utilizing style chips that make their eyes spiral and sparkle with a vivid rainbow of hues across the spectrum from deepest violet to vivid scarlet. Itโ€™s showing up on advertisements, on models as they show off their latest trends, and even some of the teens in harajuku are showing them off. They arenโ€™t static, either; they ebb and flow, and bloom with color. These โ€œMystique Eyesโ€ contacts are showing up everywhere, and for good reason! Who could resist such a sight?

โ–ถ 002. WE'RE A CULTURAL BUNCH HERE.

As the year marches on, the weather continues to get cooler in Neo Tokyo. While the city isn't known for nature, locals head to parks to view the changing leaves, and a few brave souls might venture outside the city to see more spectacular fall views. Even in the bustling neon streets of Neo Tokyo, it's nice to stop and appreciate smaller things in life.

The cultural festivities from earlier in the month are still continuing. Everyone can still try their hand at activities like tea ceremony, flower arranging, and martial arts but it seems that the number of exhibitions is increasing. Different districts across the city host festivals celebrating local culture with food, dance, and other activities. In particular, those who come from displaced communities from past kaiju attacks use the opportunity to share their traditions and even some of their community memories. Some neighborhood centers come together for physical booths, but more interestinglyโ€ฆ

The game centers in Neo Tokyo collaborate with these communities to let them create virtual worlds based on research and memories. Instead of the fright fests from Halloween, users can visit various prefectures across Japan and other countries from around the world that were previously destroyed and may no longer be accessible. These experiences can be private or public depending on user settings. Unfortunately, it's easy to miss the privacy settings so there's a chance a private virtual experience might end up being available to the public if you aren't careful. The individuals running their own virtual worlds are always happy to tell you about their culture, their homes, and Outsiders who may recognize the locations bring a tear to their eye, when talking about their homes. Even if they are still around, things are simply not like they used to be, before the kaiju appeared, and a small picture into the world that was before isโ€ฆ much different than it is now. There was more ofโ€ฆeverything. More technology, people, food, and even excitement. Getting in on the fun will certainly pique the interests of the population about LILITH, and may see dividends to bringing more locals into working with them, in time.

On LILITH's base in Shinjuku, local agents and Outsiders are encouraged to have a fun culture exchange among themselves, too! LILITH is a diverse group, and on base, there are fliers for using the Library and Greenhouse, as well as the Simulation Rooms for their own cultural exchange. If Outsiders want to, they can grab a table and present whatever they want. Maybe you want to hold a small impromptu concert, or a little art show. How about telling stories from your homeland? Maybe there is a game someone knows thatโ€™s popular. Go wild! Use the Simulation Rooms or the Dataverse if itโ€™s more convenient in the moment. To help them, LILITH will give them a small allowance to buy what they need for their booths, or free use of the Simulation Room to make virtual versions of their worlds. Outsiders are welcome to give virtual tours, talk about where they came from, and feelโ€ฆ a little homesick, if they wish. Maybe even serve some food and refreshments, if you can find the right ingredients. Thereโ€™s no better way to bond with your allies than learn a little bit more about where they came from. Maybe youโ€™ll find something in common with each others, play a game, or even find a new favorite food!

โ–ถ 003. SPLICING TAKES A TURN.

LILITHโ€™s efforts earlier this month have started to pay dividends, but capitalism continues on, as the splicing seems to continue to increase within Neo-Tokyo. After all, thereโ€™s something alluring about becoming better, and whatโ€™s the reason why it canโ€™t be biological instead of mechanical. Sure, someone might have a mechanical eye, but donโ€™t owl eyes look so much more fetching? Doesnโ€™t a prehensile tail that can turn into a whip have more advantages than an arm? And everyone loves to be a little bit furrier, especially when they love animals so much. Even some of LILITHโ€™s scientists have been sporting signs that theyโ€™ve undergone surgery, try as they may to hide it. The good Dr. Spim will even mention that theyโ€™re interested in learning more, but that they need to approach it carefully. Outsiders are valuable resources, after all, and the idea of losing them to a bad splicing makes them cautious.

But for all that it is romantic and fetching, there are problems as well. These sorts of surgeries are starting to crop up alongside more deaths. Surgeries gone bad, patients much too young going under the knife, and unlicensed surgeons are just some of the factors. Not only that, but some enterprising folk in the black market are trying something different: Itโ€™s not just normal animals on the menu, but even kaiju as well. Who wouldnโ€™t want to have the ears of a Kabus, for example, or the crest of an Imugi?

These splices are more difficult to pick out, but with it come more serious effects. With Kaiju DNA comes kaiju-adjacent abilities, and they are difficult to control. A Gigakame-spliced local might be great to talk to if you like turtles, with a new shell forming on their back, but the apartment melting down from the magma boiling under their skin is not. The gang that all get Vescidae spliced may look cool with their yellow and black stripes, and the way that they all seem to almost communicate silently with motion alone, but the way their hideout is slowly seeming to become covered in paper and dangerous to walk near is causing problems to local businesses.

The problems are increasing faster than LILITH can handle them, and the answer is clear: these individuals must be taken in for both study, and to see if they can separate the DNA from the individual. Kaiju DNA is far too dangerous, especially when itโ€™s given out with apparent wild abandon all over the city. Outsiders will be informed that LILITH wants to help these individuals get back to rights, but the more information they gather, the more useful it may be for future rewards or benefits, as well. They are interested in figuring out the how, and are working diligently to figuring out how the splicing actually works. Theyโ€™ll need to collect both surgeons and spliced locals, and bring them back to base.

(For the most part, if you play with this prompt, please feel free to use the beastiary and make up splicing combinations with powers, and feel free to make up minor kaiju of your own! If the damage is greater than a city block, just feel free to check in with us in the Questions thread below. Otherwise, go wild!)

โ–ถ 004. OUTSIDER AID IN NEO TOKYO.

Itโ€™s starting to get quite cold in the city, but that never stopped anyone from shopping, meandering, or getting up to trouble. People can be seen walking the streets with warm yakiimo or kuri-manju in their hands from local vendors. It is getting darker sooner, but the bright lights make sure that the city continues to thrive, and also casts deep shadows where danger can lurk. There's always a need for help, and with no end to the trouble that crops up, people are always looking for that extra hand, and Outsiders have proven themselves far more capable than most.
  • With the holidays starting to ramp up, an old curiosity has come with it. Outsiders who were here around this time last year will remember some subliminal messaging thrumming through the city, and tracking them down proved difficult. It's surfaced yet again, and this time, encouraging locals and Outsiders alike to purchase anything from useless junk to high-priced luxury items like vehicles and overpriced apartments. The source of it all seems to be a collection of streamers who pump out everything from music to talk radio 24/7. Taking them out will save the wallets of both the locals, and Outsiders, if you can resist the siren call of capitalism.
  • On some local forums, a frantic and anemic-looking man is looking for aid. Outsiders who are interested in helping out are given contact information, and sent on a mission to break into a corporate facility deep in the guts of the business district. He asks you to steal a blood sample they obtained of his spouse, who had previously agreed to splicing with an unknown Kaiju. He fears that the company will take them into custody once they determine what the kaiju is that they are spliced with. All he will say is that their hungers are unusual, but that they have managed to solve it together. The problem is that the company who tricked them into the blood sample may use it for more nefarious purposes, such as spreading this to others. (If pressed, he will reveal that they drink blood now, but he has been a very willing bloodbag.)
  • A few small businesses have started reporting that their accounts are lower than they should be, and it seems concentrated on a specific area of the city. Though they have been doing good business lately, it seems like for every dollar spent, theyโ€™re seeing a fraction shaved off, and itโ€™s starting to add up. Outsiders can hear complaints about this throughout the city, or it can be affecting their business as well. What ends up being the culprit is a small device attached to their payment processor, and it seems to have also been attached to businesses throughout the area. Gathering enough of these devices may lead them to the source, and LILITH can help them determine the manufacturer if they wish to start digging through this mystery.
Generally, Outsiders can agree to help out, and work together to help solve problems for the locals. If you have questions, or want to let us know the results, please use the questions thread to let us know how it goes. This can help us direct future leads for Outsiders as well, and build on future quests.

โ–ถ 001. THIS WAS A FAIRYTALE.

The Outsiders come to Gwen with their proposal, and it appears simple. A group of LILITH operatives go ahead and scout around the Enchanted Forest to attempt to discover more about the kaiju, especially since they seem to be limited on information. While Gwen seems particularly agitated by being forced to wait, she allows the Outsiders their time to go and find as much information as theyโ€™re able to divine.

For Outsiders that go, a trail leads them through winding trees and the undergrowth, well-walked pathways that break into various clearings. There are signs of campfires, of civilization, and of people staying here in the wilderness - these may be the rebels that Gwen had spent so long lamenting over. Anyone skilled at tracking or survival might follow the trail, finding a deep cave in the midst of the forest.

Exploring the cave will reveal a community that had been existing practically under their noses. There are tents, clothes littering the ground, fires, even what seems like storage boxes and childrenโ€™s treasures: various wooden and hand carved animals, including large lions. What is most noticeable is the lack of people; there are some that are around, haunting the cave and peering out at the scouting team as they approach, but they are not armed and do not seem to want to attack any of the party.

They are, at least, willing to answer questions, and they share the following information: they had seen the Outsiders in the castle outskirts and flying overhead, had seen them venturing outside of Windsor, and had come to the conclusion their time was running short. The kaiju left, with what rebels remained, and decided to bring the confrontation to Gwen, for fear of losing more of their own people to the strange affliction that has been harming them for decades.

Yes, they confirm when asked: they have been victim to it as well, and suffering from it too long can lead to transformations that are difficult to undo. The only saving grace has been their leader, Eadmund, who has the power to counterattack what has happened - but he has gone to fight, too.

The scouting party may wish to rush back to Windsor Castle before it is too late.

โ–ถ 002. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

Back in Windsor, with some of the Outsiders left behind, things are beginning to get more tense. Gwen and her soldiers are gearing up, preparing their weapons and whispering tactics to one another. Clearly, many of them are not impressed with this particular plan. It is difficult to speak to anyone, or to get them to talk to an Outsider, but the few whispers here and there show that they dislike the Outsider's plan, are frustrated with Gwen for allowing it, and want the fight to start as soon as possible; they've even taken swords from the Garrison.

Everything remains tense as they wait for the scouts to return. This is an ample opportunity for the Outsiders to make their own preparations as they wait for their friends to come back, and even to try and delay and distract Gwen's soldiers from their own. Soon, the scouts return. Thereโ€™s a brief span when they can report their findings to their fellow operatives, but within a few hours the atmosphere shifts, Gwen marching to the gates. Outside the castle walls, an echoing roar shakes the foundations.

Due to the Outsiders deciding to scout and not aid in Gwen's preparations or advising on how to fight the kaiju, the soldiers inside the castle are more on edge and afraid. They are less prepared, their weapons not designed to target the kaiju's weakness, and Gwen seems more desperate. Their outlook is gloomy at best and murderous at worst.

At first, the rebels outside the castle walls do not look remotely intimidating. They're small, but there's an otherworldly aura to them, a light in their eyes that makes them seem stronger, bigger than they would otherwise. Behind them, head tilted back into a roar, is the kaiju, a blue, pastel shard stuck in his back.

Gwen's voice calls out across the battlefield: "You will find no glory here!" Her inability to be more prepared makes her voice shake: she and her men do not know how to use the Outsiders to their advantage, and it shows.

The lion speaks, his voice a low, soft rumble; it may even sound familiar to some Outsiders. It fills the silence, seeming to slip into the ears of anyone listening: "I do not come here to harm you, Gwenllian. I have come to save them." Around him, the 'rebels' cheer, raising their blades in the air.

Gwen's face twists, and she turns to her own people, whispering a few, sharp words. There begins a change in her followers: their eyes are taking on an odd sheen, and their bodies have begun to twitch, and jerk, and... Transform?

Gwen's soldiers begin to grow additional limbs, fur, scales, fangs, claws - a horrifying mixture of human and animal, or, worse, human and kaiju. Her closest generals transform first: one woman becomes a twisted bird creature, another a monstrous badger, and a third a feral, loyal hound. They leap into battle, racing towards the rebels: the Outsiders have a choice.

They are welcome to run into the battle and stop these strange, broken monsters from attacking rebel humans.

โ–ถ 003. A ROAR-SOME BATTLE.

No matter what the Outsiders choose, Gwenllian leaps into the fray. What is immediately clear is the rebels are not attacking to kill. They also seem strangely resistant to the creatures that Gwen has made with her powers. It does not seem to have stolen their senses in the way that other kaiju have done in the past; it feels more like a warm embrace, the sensation of home and warmth.

Gwen's power surges, grows, and seems to flow over the battlefield, as a siren song. Outsiders may be influenced by the flood of her power, and might find their bodies beginning to shift: they may grow wings, claws, teeth, fur, scales or various other monster parts. They may even find their transformation becoming more complete, almost entirely monstrous, mirroring the fate of the generals... Or they may be able to ignore the call. Outsiders who had fallen prey to the memory manipulation are more easily prone to the changes, but can still resist the transformation.

The fight continues, with rebels attempting to knock out or disarm anyone coming their way. They seem almost gentler with the Outsiders, even the monstrous ones, and can be heard making promises to them: "We will protect you", "you will be safe, just let us help", and "Eadmund will free you all".

Throughout the fight, various Outsiders speak with Eadmund and damage him, and it seems as though the emotional impact is greater than the physical one. He keeps pushing through the fray, attempting to get closer to his bounty, when Muramasa strikes out at him with fire, knocking him to his back. Two hands work together to draw the relic from his back, pulling it free - baring it to the world. It is not a sword, but a large horn, embedded within his spine for decades.

As soon as the relic is drawn, Gwen howls. It is a horrifying sound, and her human shape unfolds itself, a bright light swelling, growing larger and larger, before her true form is revealed to all: a unicorn, bereft of her horn, bleeding from the wound on her head. The lion stands taller now, power echoing around him; the rebels sudden appear braver as his own power rockets through them. He goes for Gwen's neck, large jaw sinking into her as a thought runs through the minds of anyone nearby: "I will save you from yourself, my dearest friend."

โ–ถ 004. ANOTHER SLEEPLESS KNIGHT.

Gwen fights Eadmund, and Outsiders will find their own fights ebbing and flowing. As Gwen gets the upper hand, her men grow stronger, turning on not just the rebels but the Outsiders, too. They are particularly violent with any Outsider who did not suffer the strange memory effects; it seems these grow stronger and weaker with Gwen, too.

The removal of the relic from Eadmund's back seems to have made him stronger, even with the emotional and physical damage the attacks from the Outsiders have left him with. Eventually, he seems to overcome the unicorn, smothered in her blood and drowning in her wails of anguish. There's a bright flash of light, and the two of them, Gwen and Eadmund both, seem to... Disappear?

The problem of the horrific monsters still remain, however, despite the disappearance of Gwen and Eadmund, and Outsiders are tasked by the rebels with rounding them up and trapping them in the prisons below Windsor castle. They ask that the Outsiders not kill the beasts, because they are certain of a cure, but accidents can happen, right?

Ripples of rumour spread throughout the castle about the fate of Gwenllian and Eadmund, but the focus is on the recovery efforts. There are various things that Outsiders can do to help: recover the wounded, capture the remaining monsters, repair some of the damaged walls, make meals, and guide the families of the rebels back to the castle from their caves. There's no shortage of aid required.

Finally, a large campfire is built, and there is a mixture of emotions in the people of Windsor, civilians and rebels both. There is joy at their endless fight finally being over, whilst great mourning for the loss of two heroes - Gwenllian the Unicorn, who had defended Windsor for decades, and Eadmund the Lion, who had fought to free her from whatever poisoned her mind. Speaking to civilians gives various viewpoints: some think Gwen was evil, others misguided, while some imagine Eadmund to be some kind of nightmarish fairytale that is told to children to get them to behave.

No matter the view, there is relief: for now, there is a reprieve.

โ–ถ 005. THE LAST UNICORN.

The next morning, Outsiders are awoken by the arrival of a familiar face: Alex, assistant to Dr Spim. Something had been interfering with LILITH's communication since their arrival in Windsor, but with it now somehow dealt with she has been able to bring something: a cure for the monster transformations and the memory effects.

Typically, severe cases of Rift corruption are considered incurable. However, after a certain event earlier in the year, they were able to study a group of corrupted Outsiders that made an unprecedented full recovery. Additionally, thanks to a certain Outsider volunteering for additional testing and experiments, LILITH has been able to use her blood to create an antidote for significant Rift effects! They believe it can also be used to help increase resistance against more kaiju-related powers. Experiments and studies have been promising and now seems as good a time as ever for human testing!

Something else remarkable happens around mid-day. The door to Gwen's room opens, and there's a stampede of people running, whispering she's alive, he's alive, how is this possible, what is happening. Outsiders who walk up to follow the gossip chain will find a unicorn foal, horn intact, curled up with an adolescent lion, their faces pressed together as they rest and recover from a centuries long conflict.

It's not until dusk that the lion wakes up, and Eadmund sits by the great bonfire, greeting old friends and new. As he walks through the castle, something strange happens. Many of the various animals around the castle begin to twist and transform - horses, corgi, badgers, foxes, even the birds, reshaping into a human form. Some seem caught in-between, left with odd wings, dog ears or tails, and others don't turn back at all but seem to be given a human voice once more. Eadmund is apologetic: his strength isn't quite what it used to be, yet, and Gwenllian is too tired to help.

THE TALE OF THE LAST UNICORN.
In the past, a herd of unicorns roamed the forests, travelling around England and bringing the spring with them as they moved. In tune with the world, they encouraged the growth of plants, flowers and vegetation, keeping the country filled with greenery even as technology grew and became more prominent. Alongside them walked a great beast, Eadmund, protective and gentle despite his stature and his roar, who gave strength to those who would rise up and defend the world against its ills, a lion protecting his pride with all that he had.

Then the climate changed. Then the world shifted. Nature suffered, and with it so did the unicorns.

In Britain, the requirement for energy and power led to a second Industrial Revolution overtaking the nation, creating new factories and relying more on age-old technologies to ensure the country survived. The side effects were not immediate, but catastrophic when they came: the reliance on coal, oil, steam and a covert use of rift energy to power machinery led to the landscape twisting into something desolate. Earthquakes became more common, and lush farmland became closer to swamp and quagmires.

Thus, the unicorns returned. They offered aid, tried to help repair the damage done to nature, and offered their powers to soothe the hurts of the humans they loved so dearly. Alongside them was their dearest friend, their lion protector, who imbued the humans with strength and courage to fight against the threat of new beasts, new kaiju who walked the land as if it was theirs to claim. Together, they were formidable: warrior and healer, a pair difficult to defeat.

Humans are greedy, however, and often not content with the gifts they are given. A few saw the damage the rifts had done to their homes, to their friends, and remembered old stories of the power of a unicorn: their horn, their mane, their blood can heal, can soothe, can protect. Slowly, enough that it was hard to note at first, they began to trim the herd, hunting the smallest and the weakest, the youngest, until there were too few unicorns left to bring any hope to the world.

Soon, there remained none but one unicorn: Gwenllian, still young, fierce in her rage and her disgust at humanity.

They are evil, she argued, her hurt and anger overtaking her. There is no difference between them and the beasts.

They do not understand, Eadmund responded, bowing low to comfort her, maw against her neck. Let us help them to know. We can show them something better, help them to understand. We can show them their courage once more, the two of us together. Their intentions were not evil, but the results were. He remained hopeful in his grief, shouldering the weight of being last of their kind. In the depth of his heart, he loved her, and wanted to see joy return to her eyes.

I will show them understanding. Harsh, and cruel. Gwenllian, in her grief, did not wish for anything better. She had seen the horns and hair of her kin ground and used, she had witnessed their blood being harvested, and she was unable to reconcile her anger with her knowledge that it was not all the humans: desperation makes monsters, after all, and that is what she became.

When she rose up to fight the humans, they responded swiftly, and with a strength she did not expect. The source she knew too well, for how often had her dear friend given her strength and courage with his power, lifted her heart with his boasts of victory? To see it used against her broke her, and so she turned on Eadmund, and their fight was as violent as her hurt and her rage: the aftermath as deadly as what was wrought upon the earth.

She did not know that Eadmund was as much a victim as she, his power abused and manipulated, the humans taking what they could from him and using it to harm the only creature he had ever loved.

They fought, friend against friend. Gwenllian lost her horn, embedded in her dear friendโ€™s spine. Eadmund lost his future, cursed to live an endless fight, reviving each time his life was taken. Until Gwenllianโ€™s vengeance was complete, there was no hope in his future.

As the years passed, people began to forget the origins of the disaster, what had happened to the unicorns, and the strength of their protector, a great lion that lingered only in dreams, doing what he could to save those that remained. In turn, humanity turned their faith to Gwenllian, titling herself with the moniker of โ€œGwenโ€, a hero of their time with one mission: to rid the world of the kaiju causing such danger and damage.

The more faith they had in her, the worse the world around her became. Those of the highest faith found themselves changing, twisting their limbs into something more monstrous, grief and anger fuelling her: humans have monstrous hearts, so their bodies should match it. Around the castle she called home, the human-kaiju roamed, feeding her power and her madness, a reminder of her true purpose.

Their battle continued for centuries, until news of the successes of LILITH reached Gwenllian, and she hatched a new plan: use the humans to take her final vengeance and spread her transformations to the rest of the world. The only thing standing between her and victory was the remains of her heart: Eadmund who, in all the years of fighting, had not given up on her, and whose power she, too, manipulated to control the guests to her land, to twist their memories and make them easier to shape.

Now he offers the Outsiders this tale, and begs them to help. Help save the friend he still loves with all his heart, and in turn help to save all those who have fallen victim to her strength, her power, her manipulations. Together, they can return hope to their realm, and bring a brighter future to those who remain.

Tired, he asks the Outsiders this: please forgive her, and give her time. She has done such cruel things, but her heart was taken, and she had nothing left.

All that is left is for the Outsiders to gather themselves, ensure their friends are safe, cured and healthy, and begin to prepare for the journey home. It seems that there might be a happy ending to this story.

TRAVEL LOG #7
CONTENT WARNINGS: memory manipulation, nausea, headaches, references to hunting

โ–ถ 001. ITโ€™S (NOT) LONDON, BABY.

As the last dregs of summer fade into the beginning of true Fall in Neo Tokyo, Outsiders wake up to the sound of sirens blaring, the call coming through their implants - there's no time for relaxation, not when the world still needs to be saved. As soon as everyone has gathered for the debriefing, Yamakawa explains their next destination: a request for aid has been sent by a civilian militia group in Windsor, England, and it's a desperate plea for support for an ongoing kaiju crisis.

While LILITH doesn't have a branch in the area, they're able to work with their contact to ensure that a data portal is set up for the easy transportation of Outsiders from the main base. Travelling feels a little bit easier compared to before, but the common side effects still remain - a little nausea, some headaches, dizziness and some minor glitching. It seems as if caffeine is a solution, and upon arrival, Outsiders are offered a cup of tea to get them settled.

Weirdly, unlike previous teleportation, physical touch seems to make the symptoms worse, rather than better. Anyone attempting the usual form of intimacy will find that being close to people, especially those theyโ€™re most comfortable with, will feel strangely awkward, leaving them with an uneasy sensation and the urge to take a step back.

As this is another warp rather than air travel, Outsiders will be asked to bring only what they deem necessary on this journey. Yamakawa reminds the Outsiders that, once they arrive, further supplies will be sent; both those that the outsiders request, and additional medical supplies for the militia in England to support them in their ongoing quest.

Everyone will be given the standard 24 hours to pack and prepare for departure. Once the time is up, Outsiders are transported to the arrival point... In Windsor Castle.

โ–ถ 002. AN OUTSIDER WALKS INTO A CASTLE.

Upon arriving in the bailey of the castle, a beautiful woman who introduces herself as Gwen approaches. She welcomes the Outsiders to her base of operations, promising to provide beds and food for everyone. Sheโ€™s quick to give an overview of why theyโ€™ve been summoned to the castle and what the problem is: theyโ€™re a militia group who are fighting against a large kaiju that is threatening the remains of the civilian population of the United Kingdom. They need help from the Outsiders to put the kaiju (and the rebels that are supporting it) down so that peace can continue. With how few people they have capable of fighting, they turned to LILITH in desperation.

As the Outsiders are directed to one of the wings of the castle to settle in, some might notice somethingโ€ฆ Off. While all the Outsiders who had agreed to go to the mission are present and accounted for, some members of their group are acting a little odd. When spoken to, they behave the same in terms of personality, but some of the things theyโ€™re saying are strange, or donโ€™t sound rightโ€ฆ

Some Outsiders have come to believe that they have always lived in Neo Tokyo, and donโ€™t remember any other life. Theyโ€™re convinced that this is the truth, and any attempt to dissuade them is met with resistance, both of the Outsiders feeling nauseated, with the risk of migraines developing. It doesnโ€™t seem as if anything works to break this strange sickness, no matter what is attempted.

That might be a problem to deal with later.

Once bunks have been agreed on (and they will need to share rooms), Outsiders are given free rein to explore Windsor Castle. Gwen - and her generals, a group of women who can often be found around her, peering over maps, reports and other paperwork, giving advice and arguing about the best course of action - tell Outsiders that it would be best to stay within the castle walls, due to the threats of smaller kaiju outside the base. They do ask that, if they have spare time, that they help the people around the castle as much as they can, as thereโ€™s a lot of upkeep to do, and theyโ€™re running low on people thanks to their failed missions.

The castle is large, and beautifully decorated with medieval tapestries that have clung to their existence despite the impact of time. There are various locations of interest that the Outsiders are welcome to nose their way around: a library, filled with hundreds of books; the stable, where various horses of different kinds can be found (and ridden!); the outskirts around the bailey, with various small dogs; the feasting hall, where meals are served (mostly farm grown foods, and very limited meats) and, finally, the garrison (which, at the moment, only the non-afflicted Outsiders are permitted into, for โ€˜the safety of the others), with medieval weaponry on the walls.

โ–ถ 003. IT HAS A GREAT KNIGHT-LIFE.

As the Outsiders settle in, the influence of the strange memory manipulation becomes stronger. Outsiders who are convinced theyโ€™ve been in this world their entire lives may grow more determined about it, and find strength in talking about their strange new memories. Anyone attempting to convince them otherwise will likely find themselves ostracised and left to the generous mercy of the civilians around the castle. Either way, both sets of Outsiders are generally welcomed around the castle.

The accommodation is good, but there are a few minor issues. Some of the dishes the Outsiders are served taste a little off (perhaps the lack of spice?) and locals urge their guests to stay away from some areas of the castle. If they do decide to go there despite the warnings, there doesnโ€™t seem to be anything amiss. Maybe itโ€™s a British thing?

There are a huge amount of things that need doing around the castle, and the native population are more than happy to encourage the Outsiders to take part and help them with what little resources they have remaining. If Outsiders volunteer to help, theyโ€™re informed about the many odd jobs that need doing around the castle and how they can support the locals:

OPERATION: CAN WE FIX IT?
  • Outsiders are tasked with helping to repair and, in some cases, reinforce the wall surrounding the castle and the bailey.
  • Itโ€™s clearly been damaged from kaiju attacks, and some areas are more damaged than others.
  • There are limited amounts of brick, so there may be a need to go out on a reconnaissance mission to gather more supplies.
  • Outsiders will be rewarded with carved items from the civilians - dogs, horses, dragons, and lions.
  • OPERATION: WEโ€™RE GOING ON A KAIJU HUNT.
  • Outsiders are asked to go out in small groups to deal with the small, minor kaiju that have been threatening the castle.
  • The threat is a mixture of various wild kaiju, including vicious wild deer, boar, foxes and badgers. Some are more dangerous than others, and most attack on sight.
  • Outsiders will be rewarded with small gifts from the civilians - gloves with sheep wool interiors, large cotton blankets and, if they bring back their kills, fresh kaiju meat meals.
  • OPERATION: CLAYSONโ€™S FARM.
  • Outsiders are asked to help the castle farmers for the upcoming months, both the livestock and the crops themselves.
  • The calves will need to be weaned (which might include chasing them around a field), wool from ewes clipped and harvesting the winter wheat, potato and sugar beet before planting the new crop.
  • Outsiders will be rewarded with small gifts from the farmers - bouquets of dried flowers, their first choice of the harvested crops, bottles of homemade cider, and even naming some of the livestock after the most helpful.
  • OPERATION: THE GRAVEYARD SHIFT (AUโ€™D CHARACTERS ONLY).
  • Outsiders are asked to tend to a graveyard deep in the back area of the castle, surrounded by forests.
  • They will need to clean the graves, tidy up anything that has been left behind, check the records are accurate and pay their respects.
  • Outsiders will be rewarded with a broach in a strange horse shape from Gwen herself, who says it will permit them into some of the closed off areas of the castle. This includes the โ€˜spaโ€™ (where the water is always cold); the ballroom (where the curtains are too heavy to move, so itโ€™s always dark) and a special dining hall (which none of the cooking staff seem to know exists).
  • OPERATION: A PROPER GANDER (NON-AUโ€™D CHARACTERS ONLY).
  • Outsiders are asked to deal with the rebel propaganda thatโ€™s popped up around the castle.
  • They will need to clean the graffiti, remove posters, try and track down where theyโ€™re getting in and ensure none remains.
  • Outsiders will be rewarded with Turkish Delight candies (hand-delivered by Gwen, as itโ€™s her own personal recipe), nightly offers of hot chocolate and their choice of art supplies so they can add their own murals to the castle (once approved by the generals, of course).

  • There are dozens of other odd jobs that need done, too, and Outsiders can find themselves tasked with almost any minor task that they can imagine - from novice carpentry, to cleaning, to taking care of the corgi population to even exercising the horses. There are no limits to how helpful the Outsiders can be to their temporary home.

Throughout this time, Gwen and her generals are preparing for the upcoming mission and sharing briefs with the Outsiders as they gear up: thereโ€™s been a trace of the beast somewhere near Egham, ironically called the โ€œEnchanted Forestโ€. If the Outsiders attempt to probe Gwen or question her for specifics, sheโ€™ll shrug them off, for now; there simply isnโ€™t enough time to answer everyone personally, and sheโ€™s incredibly busy.

    โ–ถ 004. HASTY PREPARATION.

Not long into the Outsidersโ€™ stay at the castle, a scouting report comes back with alarming news: the kaiju is on the move and seems to have more humans under its control, preparing to launch a counterattack on the castle and the people within. The generals, Gwen leading the charge, are quick to gather their weapons and supplies and start to consider a way of fighting back before the worst happens: the castle is laid siege.

Everyone in the castle is suddenly part of a whirlwind of motion, all trying to plan the counterattack and how to deal with the kaiju before itโ€™s too late. Gwen is more than willing to listen to what the Outsiders have to say as spokespeople for LILITH, and due to their experience in dealing with kaiju in the past; sheโ€™s keen to know what theyโ€™ve tried, what worked, and what didnโ€™t work.

The next few days have the castle in preparation mode. Weapons are checked, books on tactics and histories are revised to see for any weaknesses that might have been missed, and Outsiders are encouraged to do whatever they can to help, just as they have been before.

Itโ€™s as hard to get Gwen and her generals alone as it was before, but thereโ€™s a general feeling of finality around the keep; this could be it. She does make an announcement a day before the march:

    Image
"My men and I have discovered what may be causing the strange... Affliction your friends are suffering from, dear soldiers of LILITH. The kaiju seems to have the power to influence emotion, and memory along with it. A previous attack left a relic in the beast, which has healing properties: it is this that will cure your friends. We must defeat the monster and bring this relic home, with all swiftness."

Killing this kaiju might be the only way to free the Outsiders from its influence.

This might be the final push to get rid of the kaiju forever.

    โ–ถ AFTERWORD.

    This Travel Log #7!

Due to the nature of the final prompt, the Kaiju RNG will be posted in a few days to allow for time for Outsiders to gather clues and plan a counterattack against the kaiju.

The clues Outsiders receive (both AU and non-AU options) will be vital for charting a course for tackling this kaiju, so please add your suggestions (and ICly +1 other people's) before the 10th at the latest. We strongly encourage players to coordinate their clues together ICly to come up with solutions!

The planned attack will be based on character suggestions using this comment.

    โ–ถ 001. WINNER'S CIRCLE.

The return to Neo Tokyo is a quieter affair than usual, but that doesnโ€™t mean that LILITH isnโ€™t proud of her angels. After dispatching them to deal with smuggling rings and bringing in their latest set of Outsiders, thereโ€™s a little celebration in the cafeteria; sushi, yakiniku, tempura and other various seasonal foods are on offer, justโ€ฆ Donโ€™t ask where the meat comes from.

The celebrations of the victories in Mexico are not to be ignored, however, and the traditional celebrations of the winning outsiders is business as usual:

    GOOD JOB:
    SOBA & R.A.P.H (K.O.)
    JUSTISH (600) & GODDESS OF DEATH (600)

And, as might be becoming familiar to the Outsiders, the celebration of the victors comes with its own impact on the cityscape of Neo Tokyo.

The more fashionable of folk might notice a new trend flooding the market, especially popular with teenage girls who lean towards the more lolita fashion. The trend is a simple gothic one, nicknamed zen lolita, with black on black, thick earrings and zori shoes with sharp designs that all seem to call back to traditional Buddhist monk style. The sparks of colour in this style come from white and silver accessories - finger and nose rings, dangling chains with small, animal charms. While much of the style can be found in thrift stores and downloaded through the style chips, a significant amount of it can only be bought in high end, expensive boutiques.

Meanwhile, in the arcades of Neo Tokyo, a new game has become popular. Players enter a virtual simulation room and can use dual virtual swords to slash at incoming targets while listening to music. Targets can take on the shape of alien spaceships, asteroids, and even space robots. To win, you have to fight to the beat with certain songs having greater difficulty. Hardcore players can also purchase upgrades for their virtual swords to trigger special effects. The upgrades are all named after famous swords with some of the most impressive ones being Excalibur and Arondite.

Another emerging hit teen trend is a brand-new pizza from one of the bigger chains in Neo Tokyo. Painting their windows with reds and greens, little cartoon turtles and party balloons and celebrations, with mascots that are being sold as keyrings and plushies alongside the food. The main attraction is the new dish on offer: a Mutant Turtle Pizza! Itโ€™s a fairly simple dish, designed as a calzone (you can customise some of your fillings!) with a turtle shell crust, wrapped in paper matching their cute mascot design. Those in Redemption might notice somethingโ€ฆ Odd going on outside room 006. In the weeks after the return from Mexico, deliveries have been made almost around the clock, the weary drivers dropping off box after box and bouquet after bouquet. It seems as if word of a certain someoneโ€™s hard work in fighting the kaiju has been heard, and they want to show their affection. Various bouquets of sunflowers, roses, tulips, daises and orchids can be found littering the floor, in various shades of blues, purples, yellows and white. At least it smells wonderful.

โ–ถ 002. LOST IN TRANSLATION (TEXT MINGLE.)

Auto-translation software allows everyone in the world to communicate with each other, regardless of where they are from or what language they might speak. Everyone has it automatically installed and for the most part, this allows for seamless and instant translation no matter who they are talking to.

One day, everyone will receive a system message that consists of broken characters, code, and gibberish. After that, they will find that they have some trouble communicating with others. For some people, it might just be a few words not translating correctly, but for others, the miscommunication is more extreme.

The translation software might completely fail, resulting in Outsiders not being able to understand each other at all. They will have to rely on vintage translation services or body language Synthia will issue an explanation:

    Image
"We all know the results of modern projects. We are now solving the problem. Thank you very much."

    Image
"It seems instead of translating to multiple languages, she translated through multiple languages. Sorry. There is currently a problem with the translation software. We contacted support and they're working on it."

For the next few days, everyone will have to make do with broken or incorrect translations when speaking to each other. Even characters from the same world and country might find themselves suddenly speaking a completely different language. This might result in people saying the opposite of what they mean or the things they say might end up translated through multiple languages before the final result. They might even accidentally confess a secret that they did not mean to say. Eventually, a patch will be issued and things will resume as usual. This effects both text messaging and normal speaking.

    โ–ถ 003. CAULDRONS & KAIJU.

It seems as though September is for fun, and with it comes a rush of people in Neo Tokyo taking part in an exciting craze that seems to ebb and flow in popularity throughout the year: a class-based, live action role-playing game that is all the more exciting thanks to technology permitting light shows, downloadable costumes and guild systems. LILITH is quick to encourage the Outsiders to take part, in the interest of team-building and developing connections across the four groups on base.

The game itself is simple: organise yourself into a โ€˜partyโ€™, download your costumes and class features (such as light shows for magic users, custom weapons for your melee and ranged) and various upgrades to transform your features into different โ€˜racesโ€™ - your bunny and cat people, lizardfolk, and so forth. Once your party is together, you travel through a scavenger-hunt style series of games, puzzles, PvP and PvE fights to get to the final โ€˜dungeonโ€™ - raid a dragon lair and get some gold and various other prizes. Try to create a balanced team of tank, magic user, support and damage dealer!

LILITH is more than happy to help set up the Outsiders with what gear they need, and makes the following recommendations for the โ€˜styleโ€™ of play for each team - and they recommend a mixture of all four for the best โ€œparty-compโ€:
BRIMSTONE are the tanks. Ranging from dedicated, focused Paladin-style warriors using various different weaponry to Barbarians who use their rage for offensive purposes, theyโ€™re encouraged to don armour, get their HP buffed and lead their party into their quest. They can take more damage than the rest of their party and have special abilities to get monsters to focus on them.

EVERLIGHT find themselves as physical based damage dealers. This could be archery, swords, knives or their bare fists to hit for as much power as they can muster. Theyโ€™re encouraged to do what they can to bash their enemies to pieces, and are more adept at 1:1 combat than groups. Their skills focus more on high damage ceilings for those who get to grips quickly and critical hits.

REDEMPTION are the support. This can range from straight-up HP healing skills or using buffs and debuffs to make it easier for the tanks (and those unruly DPS!) to survive whatever fight comes up ahead. Regen or shields, they could also be the Healer-DPS and heal by killing the enemy before it kills their party - with a little bit of poison and strength sapping magic, theyโ€™re nothing to scoff at.

REVELATION get to enjoy the fascinating and wonderful world of magic users. This could be using a wand, a book, or sheer natural talent to cast a variety of spells to get rid of the enemy as swiftly as possible. Elemental magic (your fire, ice, earth, lightning, etc) mixes with staggering areas of effect skills to try and make quick work of any threat that might lie ahead. Mages are far more useful for groups of enemies than single target, but are still devastating.
The actual โ€˜roleplayโ€™ part of the event takes place with a series of different ventures for Outsiders to get themselves busy with across Neo Tokyo:
  • Various puzzles and riddles to crack between different markers on their maps.
  • Traps to trip players up and make them question everything.
  • Mysteries that need to be solved before they can move on to the next location.
  • Nature itself fighting back against the questing parties.
  • There are various fun elements uploaded onto their implants to make the game more engaging as well, as if they were playing in the simulation room: a HP tracker, item lists, spells and mana, party group chats and various other features. This will help when one of your party gets poisoned and loses -1HP per step they takeโ€ฆ Uh oh! Feel free to have fun with whatever your imagination can come up with.

At the end of the trail is the dragonโ€™s lair, where theyโ€™ll face various lair-based obstacles: smoke and fog, 'toxic' fumes and clouds, dragon breath (of various elemental flavours), terrain difficult to walk through, etc. All of this is created via a holographic simulation, of course, but it feels very real! Winning parties will win a treasure chest of โ€œgoldโ€... Itโ€™s chocolate, and therefore fake, but you get a really cool certificate and a place on the leaderboard for how fast you beat the dragon!

    โ–ถ 004. AFTERWORD.
