  1. Today
  2. It's not. It's only February 30th.
  3. I thought it was a fine deal. Verdugo was a real player. He looked like a great extension candidate. After his first year with us, he had a career 5.2 bWAR in 644 ABs. I'm shocked that he failed.
  4. There is a contingent of RS fans that criticize every move. Darwinzon, and the rioting in the streets over letting Thaddeus Ward go.
  5. Writers looking for clicks. An article titled "Song unlikely to stick with Phils". Every organization has guys like this, and usually better. If you hide the name and the Navy story, it sounds like "DD picks up 26 year old former 4th rounder from A-, who hasn't pitched in 4 years, and is on the IL".
  6. If we can ever pitch Song followed by Sansone, we can sing... Song- San-sone Weeping like a willow Song-San-sone Sleeping on my pillow Funny thing, Alez can sing it with a cry in his voice And before you know it, we started feeling good Cora simply got not choice.
  7. Yesterday
  8. What the-- This isn't April Fool's; it's still Maaaaaaacchh!!!
  9. What about Braiden Ward! He crushed two pitches at 5 mph in between the plate and the mound, then his legs exit veloed out of the box at 95 mph. Two more hits, two more trips around the bases (once he even scored). But in his 3rd AB he blew it: 50 mph pop-up. Another foe feed on NESN, this time Toronto's. When Cespedes got up, they called him Yo Alien. His proud parents Romulan "Romy" Balboa and Klinger Klingon cheered from outer space.
  10. I think our pitching staff has allowed more ST'ing runs than any other team. I think we're #2 in runs scored.
  11. We've done better with comp picks than the Betts trade. I know that's hindsight, and the two reported trade offers both looked bad, but we almost traded him in the summer of 2019, so the deal was going to be made. Speaking of comp picks... Godbout for Pivetta K Campbell for Bogey Anthony for ERod Kopech for Ellsbury JBJ for VMart Daniel Bard for Damon Ellsbury & Lowrie for OCab Buchholz for Pedro
  12. It's hard to know what a "better value" deal is for someone who will turn 33 in the first year of an extension (2029.) It's like a double gamble. I'm not sure about hurrying to try and extend him for 2030, when he turns 34 in September of that year. More than 2 years added on seems way too risky.
  13. I watched yesterdays :) KC got absolutely robbed on a beauty diving play by some Orioles super fast RF'er
  14. I heard this the other day and thought 'that can't be good.' Apparently, though, the issue he's having doesn't affect his swing at all. I don't know how that works.
  15. I was good with trading Betts. I was also okay with the return that we got for him. No one was going to match Betts' production, but nor was it going to cost us $300M plus. Betts was going for the most money. It was time to part ways. With all of the trades made, the impacts are carried over for years, directly or indirectly. Had we not traded Betts, the players that we have acquired or not acquired would be a lot different. For all we know, we might not have Crochet today if we had kept Betts.
  16. I am a Wong fan. I think he would do a lot better if he were playing mostly everyday. Hopefully, he'll do well enough to take a little more playing time from Narvaez this year to help keep Narvaez from getting run down.
  17. If this was in a game that counted, that might be in the top 50 all time hardest hit balls. Now granted , Franchy Cordero has few in top 50, so its no guarantee that hard hitters are going to be awesome ballplayers - but not a terrible sign.
  18. OK, I have not been able to watch a spring training game yet. My Extra Innings package, hence my MLB.tv, doesn't kick in until regular season. ☹️ I'm looking forward to Yankees and Red Sox on ESPN on Wednesday.
  19. It's been a loooong week. That said, I can't believe it's already March, and even more unbelievable is that we spring forward on Saturday! Temps in the 70s later this week!
  20. Being the biased fan that I am, it doesn't bother me nearly as much when a Red Sox player does it. If I see a Yankee player showboating after hitting a home run off of a Red Sox pitcher, that's a whole other story. I might even throw a few choice words at the screen. LOL I agree that it's more "acceptable" to admire a long home run or a game-winning walk off home run, but I'd rather not see it at all.
  21. I'd be willing to extend Duran beyond just one year, but definitely no more than three. I understand that Duran is not so young, but the point of extensions is to save money over the free agency price. In doing so, you tend to get the better value deals. I understand that there is also risk involved, but that's a chance I'm willing to take instead of paying outrageous free agency money. I also understand that many people don't care about value, they just want the best player, no matter the cost. I respect that opinion, I just don't agree with it.
  22. I agree that the Red Sox probably won't extend Duran. I'd still do it. Of course, the length of the extension is based on the player's age, so I'm not talking a 5 year extension for him. Two years, maybe three. IMO, the Red Sox should have extended him a couple of years ago. Abreu probably won't get extended because it sounds like he is willing to bet on himself. Translation: Show me the money. Or in other words, he doesn't sound willing to give a team discount, which is essential from the team's standpoint. In spite of Mayer's injury history, I'd take a chance on him.
  23. Justin Gonzales exit velo just now 117.3 🥵
  24. Halligan just killed Watson's ST ERA with that GS to Barger. I mean, the pitching stinks.
  25. He's only coming up because another poster puffed him up a few times.
  26. My name is Franklin Arias, and Im a certified G and a bona fide stud and you cant teach that. This right here is Justin Gonzales, hes 7 feet tall and you cant teach that. Bada boom, realest guys in the room.
