Patches left this realm a few minutes after 8 this morning. The vet cried along besides us. There was nothing they could have done, other than to try to keep her in the hospital to keep some of the pain at bay. (She was already starting to jaundice.) I don't think Patches or Tim could have handled her being in a hospital for her remaining days.
Tim, the vet, her assistant, and I held her and stroked her as she passed quietly.
These are pictures I took last night of them saying goodbye, there are three (click to see).
Tim hasn't talked here much about it, but Patches has been growing increasingly sick. We found out recently that it was liver disease. This past week has been her worst, she can't keep food down, can barely walk, and today she's been crying a lot. She won't respond when we call her name and Tim has to pick her up to move her anywhere. She's lethargic and just miserable; she has kept at most one meal down all week.
As hard as it is to let her go, we also can't watch her endure this. She has had fifteen good years, which is a nice long life for a medium sized dog.
We're taking her to the vet tomorrow morning. This is difficult to say the least. If you could, please send Tim some love and happy thoughts.
My job has been keeping me so swamped that I hardly have time for email much less lj lately but I couldn't let today go by without wishing a wonderful and grand birthday to my bro jps!
People have asked about wedding gifts. As we have both had households individually in the past and now together we are fairly well stocked on things. AND we don't feel comfortable trying to rack up on loot from our friends.
So, in lieu of a gift our first request would be that you make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or your local breast cancer fundraising events.
If you really want to do something for us we can always use manual labor in the basement ... and Home Depot gift cards. But we honestly would prefer you make the donation above. We know that I owe my life to the phenomenal research that has been done for this cause and the phenomenal training and new techniques that oncology teams are receiving. We would be honored if you helped save another life. That would be an awesome way to honor our commitment as a family.
On November 22nd I am going to take my sweet Precious down to the Gwinnett County courthouse and we are going to get married. :)
We've been discussing our future together and our level and type of commitment for a while now and I've been struggling with my baggage and that whole "I don't care if GOD (whoever that is) thinks it's ok for us to be a couple and I don't need his approval or the govt's, etc..." (Yeah, there's a stick up my butt, but I'll get over it) so it's been up in the air for a while as to what we were actually going to do or when. Most recently we had been talking about a simple handfasting ceremony in May.
In discussions with DFCS recently about Tylors adoption it became evident that they would be MUCH more happy if we were actually officially married. In their words "There is no precedent for opposite-sex couples with domestic partnerships to adopt"...or something silly like that.
I love her with all my heart and she is definitely the other half of my soul so this is where we belong.
We decided to go ahead and do it quickly since the timing is convenient and that way it won't hamper the adoption at all.
I called my Mom and told her and she reminded me that November 22nd is their anniversary too, which is kind of neat. Plus she can call and remind me when she calls Dad to remind him. :)
Don't fret however as there will be a big party/celebration/gathering/get together which friends will be invited too. Right now we are looking at the beginning of May sometime but that may change.
*and there was much rejoicing* :D
So now I have about 2 1/2 weeks to come up with some really cool and romantic way to actually ask her to marry me. :) Please email any suggestions to the email address on my info page so she won't see them posted here.
I found the log file in the router and this is what is currently there after being connected via Dynamic all night then trying to connect via PPPoE unsuccesfully this morning and then reconnecting via Dynamic.

I have DSL service through Earthlink. Usually their service is really good but lately I have been having some problems.
I have a Vision Net E200ER ADSL modem and a Belkin Wireless Router.
Under normal conditions I have been connected to the internet through the router using PPPoE. When I am connected in this manner the PPPoE light on the modem has always been off for some reason. Everything has worked fine though.
Lately the PPPoE light on the modem has been coming on, as if Earthlink has changed something. All calls to Earthlink have been fruitless in this area as all I can get is a trainee in India who only knows how to follow the prompts on his monitor.
If I connect my PC (running WindowsXP) directly to the modem I am able to connect and everything works fine.
If I set the router to connect via a Dynamic connection instead of PPPoE then I am able to connect to the internet but the connection is unstable. The greatest proof being that when I try to connect to the MMORPG that shes_precious and I play (Horizons) I consistently get dropped after a very short time and get an error that there was a "connection issue".
If I set the router to connect via PPPoE it consistently times out and won't make a connection.
I am fairly computer literate but a novice in this area. I'm sure there is just a setting or something that I am missing but I am getting pretty frustrated since it appears that everything should work as it is but won't.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also if you need more details about the setup please let me know.
