I took a two hour trip to visit the place where many of my ancestors lived. This marker and the cemetery are the only things left of Port Sullivan. The marker stands in the place where the men and woman's college used to be.
This is what was known as Port Sullivan, TX! Many of my ancestors lived here in the late 1800's...here I am back to my REAL southern roots looking over the cotton fields. This port is set along the Brazos River. They used to transport cotton up and down the river by boat before the rail came through the neighboring town of Hearne.
A tradition at Grandma's Camp is to make s'mores! Yummy...
