Listens: Fans humming and a chainsaw buzzing..

WTF?

I just spent the last hour and a half prepping a Dell swerver for Exchange 2000... e.g. removing Win2k3, installing Win2k Server, joining domain, applying updates... and just as I'm about to blast (as in 200 psi raw sewage from a fire hose) Sexchange onto it I notice something ODD about the D: (for Data) drive.

It's 65 GB. And C: (for Crap) is Err.. 4 GB.
This thing was supposed to come with 40 GB SATA boot and 160 GB SCSI RAID.
It was also supposed to have 1 GB RAM, not 256 MB. And P4 2.8 HT, not a putt-putt 2.4.
Let alone the fact that it's supposed to be a PowerEdge 700, not a 600SC.

Shit.

Calling the responsible critters sheds light on the situation.
This is the slave for the satellite office, not the new mail server.

Like you told me it was.

Several times.

Waitaminute, didn't anyone check the packing slip? It's right here... in its unopened shrink-wrap womb...

Asshat.

ObSilverLining: It needed to be loaded with 2k anyway. And I won't have to work on it Saturday, which is good 'cause apparently this weekend I have places to see and people to do.
