I just heard that Ronzoni is discontinuing pastina. Mac and cheese used to be my comfort food but since I have to watch my cholesterol, I rarely indulge. Pastina has become my new comfort food. The only good news is that it seems Barilla brand isn't discontinuing it, at least not yet.

So Friday the 10th I got my 2nd booster I figured it's summertime and I want to see friends and enjoy life again. I had lunch with 2 friends that I haven't seen since 2019.

On Friday (the 17th) I volunteered for kitchen help for a local festival that is being held for the first time since 2019. Friday night I went to the festival.

On Sunday I started to get a sore throat and a little cough. I did a rapid test on Sunday and again on Monday (both negative). But since I was volunteering for kitchen help again on Wednesday I also took a pcr test on Monday and got the results back this AM. Yup, I tested positive! I have a call into the MD because I want to know if he recommends any of the meds that you take in the first 5 days.

Has anyone on my flist had any experience with the Shionogi drug or with Paxlovid?

My symptom, so far are mild and cold-like. Fingers crossed they stay that way.

So, I was on call for Federal jury duty for the last 2 weeks. I had to start calling on Sunday the 23rd. I was called down on the 24th and since it was Federal, it was an hour and a half trip by public transportation to downtown Brooklyn. I was only called down one day because it was before the holiday weekend. Tuesday I didn't have to go in but I did Wednesday and it was seriously looking like I would have to come back on my birthday.

I don't know if you are aware but if you are of a certain age you can opt out of jury duty. I turned that age yesterday. So I used my old lady card to avoid going to Brooklyn on my birthday.

I had a lovely day with lots of phone calls messages and texts from my sibs, friends, and family. Hearing from my sibs is always one of the highlights of my birthday. (If I had jury duty I would have missed all my calls because Federal court confiscates your phone for the day.)

So becoming an old lady has its perks! Although I didn't love having to tell a room full of people how old I was.

13. What was the last song you listened to of your choosing? What was the last song you heard that was imposed on you (e.g. background music at a store, in someone else's car, etc.)?
My choosing was this YouTube vid of Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Cortney Cox singing Hold me closer Tony Danza. The last song I remember being imposed on me was on the TV and it was "Amazing Grace" for t=one of the NYC fallen police officers' funerals.

14. Do you play mobile games on your phone? If yes, what is the most addictive game you've played?
I'm not much of a game player, sometimes solitaire but never on my phone.

15. Do you text more or call more? Why?
Text - because talking takes up too much time. A text is over and done with no long off-topic tangents.

16. Most important in a partner or best friend: intelligence or sense of humour?
Normally I would say a sense of humor but in today's climate of conspiracy theories and false info, I am now inclined to say intelligence. Although humor is very important especially when dealing with conspiracy theorists. ~_^

Today I got lost down a FaceBook rabbit hole. This was one of Jimmy Fallon's hashtags, # worst gift ever. I don't know why I thought this one was so funny but I was spit laughing. Maybe it's just my strange sense of humor.


10. What do you think is the best sitcom (current or past)? It's hard to narrow it down to just one but I would definitely say "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "Cheers" and "The Big Bang Theory".

11. What do you think is the most overrated movie? IDK, I usually think most movies that are overhyped are overrated.


12. Who would you most like and least like to be stuck in an elevator with? I'm a little claustrophobic so I would hate being stuck in an elevator with anyone, even if they were the most fascinating person in the world.
