Brian is kind of the best at presents. This year he got me a ticket to go to Utah, kid free!

We must have had lots of fun on Christmas because we don’t have many pictures of it.

Lyra’s Christmas Party
Christmas Pictures
I think ever since we had Lyra, we’ve been taking family pictures to send out with our Christmas cards. I kept asking Brian about when we might do the pictures for our cards and he’s like, “we send out Christmas cards?” I was like… for reals B? lol. I think I teased him enough that will be the last time he forgets.
Anyway, on the last possible Saturday we got dressed super fast and dashed outside. Diana offered to be our photographer and I’m sure it wasn’t very easy. 90% of the time one of us was distracted or looked funny, or the wind was blowing like crazy, but we made it work and got a couple good pics. Thanks D!
Polar Express
HOAs can be ultra annoying but sometimes they do really cool things. A couple weeks before Christmas ours had a Polar Express. We dressed the kids in their pajamas and met at the elementary school. They had hot chocolate – just the right temperature! They had s’mores too? but I didn’t see them. The line was getting long so we beelined it over there and waited with our neighbors. We finally made it on and had a great time looking at lights.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was fun this year. We invited Mike & Kate, and Scott. Diana and Brian both knew Mike when he worked at RK, and Brian works and plays basketball with Scott (his family had left town to visit relatives). I must say, Diana and I made a great team. Thanksgiving dinner was fabulous! Hard Eight did the hard cooking though so I’ll give them props for a turkey well done. We made the brussels, mac & cheese, stuffing and rolls though.
I was a little worried about how the kids would do with strangers in the house but, turns out I had nothing to worry about. The kids were all over Mike. I asked Lyra what she liked so much about Mike and she said, “Well he’s funny, like me.” The next day she drew a picture of them together, never mind about his fiance. It was a pretty chill day with just enough stress to make it a memorable holiday and it was perfect.
