I learned the other day that I have been accepted to the AmeriTech Nursing Program. I have been waiting to get that phone call so long that I thought I would be ecstatic and call or text everyone I could think of. Instead I hung up the phone and said nothing Edwin asked if it was AmeriTech. I said yes, he said, " Were you accepted?" I said, "Yes, but that is all he could tell me. I don't know what the schedule is or what to expect." And that was that. I went back to what I was doing. I think what got to me was a friend's husband. He had congratulated me prematurely for going to Nursing school, then followed it with, "It was hell." I commented something about I knew it would be hard and he said, "No! It was hell for the family. I don't know how we did it." And the thing is, he was a very supportive husband and she has three great girls. I guess its a testament that families need moms and dads. Without both things are harder.

One year later...
Leigh just got married to Nickole Larsen. They had their wedding in a park in Price. Their two kids were so cute and it was fun to just get together with the whole family and chill.
On a downer note, both my grandparents (McCarty) were diagnosed with Parkinson's and my grandma M was diagnosed with cancer that had migrated from breast to spine. Ironically it is my grandpa who is not doing well. I love those two. It is fun to be there on good days...and the bad days are a reality check.
I am finishing up my math class this next week and then I am taking the next semester off. I am excited to be able to spend more time at home and maybe even be able to volunteer in Ethan's class! Ethan will be in 4th grade and Natalia is going to be in dance class!!!!

A pictoral update
I just have to say that I have the cutest family on the planet! I need to upload my camera onto my laptop, but these pictures are from Mother's Day and just before. We went up into Provo Canyon (before the bear siting) and had a little bar-b-que. It was fun. I love the picture of Ethan with my Grandma McCarty.

Checking in
I have this silly idea that a post must have a picture. So, here is a picture of Ethan with Jeff Gordon's car.
Edwin & Ethan wen't down to Vegas to see a NASCAR race. It was a highlight for Ethan. Natalia and I hung out at home. I had no desire to do the NASCAR thing.
I have struggled with the whole blog thing because I have struggled keeping up with anything that is not absolutely necessary. I started a math class in January and have little time for anything else. My brain does not absorb math very easily. If I get this class done I will be 2 classes away from applying for the nursing program at UVU. Yeah me!
Well, it was a long day at work and I am back at it tomorrow, so I must get to bed. I hope all is well for all of you. Keep in touch!

We spent Dec 21-24 in Las Vegas just to get out of town. We stayed at the Excaliber and had some fun!

This is a very cool store! It is FOA Schwartz. I could have spent hours in there alone! It is in the Forum Shops by the Bellagio. Definitly worth a stop if you are in Vegas.

Edwin & Natalia thought this dragon was pretty cool. Notice they are about to be eaten by said dragon!

A very cool place to visit in Las Vegas is the Children's Discovery Museum. We all loved it. Here Ethan & Natalia are learning about shopping and the cost of food. There was a kid that refused to give up his post at the cash register, but they had fun perusing the produce.
If you know Ethan, then you know that we couldn't get away from Vegas without going to the Nascar Cafe. Truth be told, it was just an over priced eatery...$6 salad, $9 hamburger...but it was the experience we went for, not the fine food.
On our way out of town we stopped at the Mormon Fort. It is now a state park. There isn't much original there now, but it was still interesting to walk around and see some of the reproduced buildings they have. They also had a short video telling the history of Las Vegas, including the role the Mormons had in it. These pictures are showing an example of the adobe walls.

I think that everyone that bothers to read my blog will have fond memories of the Smurfs...and now you can purchase little figurines from Schleich! It made me laugh out loud! (This is one of the cool things I found at FOA Schwartz).

This is a wind machine. It maxed out at 70 mph. Edwin is turned around, trying to catch his breath. He said it was aweful. After that, Ethan declined the opportunity. I felt it was imortant that I stay with Natalia and so did not participate, either.
We tried very hard, but could not get the bubble to form around the kids. We couldn't figure out how to keep the ring from hitting the sides of the soap trough, so we never did get to see how it would be. We made lots of bubbles in the little dishes, though.

So maybe I will post Christmas next...Maybe even before Valentine's Day!

Still alive
We are still alive, but busy. I have about 4 or 5 posts I need to put up, but I don't have my laptop (and pictures) right here. I hope all is well with you! Perhaps Monday I will be able to post more.

They Changed It Again!
Most, if not all, of you will remember the Young Women's motto from the good old days. Many of you will know that they added to it a few years ago. Well, they added to it again. Here is the new & improved version of the YW motto:
We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us and we love him. We
will stand as witnesses of God at all times, in all things and in all places as
we strive to live the Young Women values which are Faith, Divine Nature,
Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice & Accountability, Good Works,
Integrity and Virtue. We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, recieve the ordinances of the temple and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.
