and 3 becomes 4...
That's right... we are expecting another little monkey. We are happy to share that we are pregnant and the new addition to our family is due in May. Suprised? Happy? Shocked? Elated? Yes, we are feeling all of these things. Mostly we are in love with the idea of having another little chubby baby in the house. Two children under two is an adventure that we are looking forward to, with stacks of diapers at our sides.

Quentin's 12th Month- He's one year old.
Kevin informed me that he doesn't believe anyone actually reads this blog, they just look at the pictures and video. We will test his little theory out... here are the pictures and video from Q's 12th month. Enjoy!

Quentin's 9 Month Professional Pictures
Here are Quentin's 9 month professional pictures. I know I am about 3 months behind... I left them at his Aunt Roseann's house for a few weeks and then I just didn't get around to scanning them. Anyway, they are adorable and I used one of them for Kevin's Father's Day present.
Enjoy!

Quentin's 10th and 11th Months
Ok, ok. There are no excuses. I just didn't get around to publishing the pictures and videos of Quentin's 10th month. I am just going to say I was spending all of my time immersed in my son and my husband and basking in the glow of a truly amazing life and it just didn't get done. (Can't be mad at that excuse can you? :) ) I am going to split this blog into two parts to clearly separate Quentin's 10th and 11th months. After he turns 1 I will probably only post the BIG developments and go back to blogging about the things we do as a family. In retrospect I am so glad I have documented each month of his changes since the first year has gone so quickly.
Quentin's 10th Month...
This was a busy month. We went on a hike, went to Disneyland with Jessica, Keith, and Averie, spent my first Mother's Day at home with my boys, spent Memorial Day with Molly, Mo, Lauren, and Kyle, and I was able to spend lots of time with Q while working from home.
Quentin had a few new developments...
1) learned to play peek-a-boo by himself
2) learned to open the baby gate
3) learned how to work his more complicated toys
4) graduated from baby foods to big boy foods
5) began experimenting with walking
Quentin's 11th Month
This was a very busy month for us. We pretty much spent the whole month painting, packing, prepping the house for our move, and moving. Let's just say we are in love with our new house. We also got to spend a week up north visiting Tricia, Cory, and Logan right after he was born. It has been tough for Tricia but she has been AMAZING!!! Logan is still in the NICU but he is gaining weight and has been off his monitors for weeks. I wish we lived closer so I could see them more.
Quentin had a very eventful 11th month with a lot of firsts. He...
1) took his first steps
2) became a cousin when his Aunt Tink and Uncle Cory welcomed Logan William Anderson.
3) is learning to problem solve independently
4) went to a concert in the park with both grandparents
5) spent his first Father's Day with daddy
6) went to his first Dodger game vs. the Yankees
7) had his first Dodger dog (yes, this needed it's own recognition)
8) moved to his new house with his big backyard and lots of room to play
9) understands the words "clap", "wave", "arms up", and "no" (nothing other than word prompts I swear)
10) began walking
11) spent his first 4th of July with both grandparents and LOVED the watermelon
12) possibly said his first word, "kitty." It is up for debate. He says it whenever he sees a cat or anything else that is furry, including stuffed animals, bunnies, and dogs (tried but failed in uploading video)
13) turns the pages of his books when we are reading

Quentin's Ninth Month
Things are finally beginning to settle down here. I am now only working one job (hurray!!!) and I am really enjoying my new position. I miss working with children but I know that indirectly I am still making an impact on students with special needs. Kevin's school year is also winding down. His seniors have already graduated so he is teaching fewer classes and already beginning to focus on next year.
We threw Tricia's baby shower for little Logan and it was a hit. Joanne, Mom, and I worked hard and it turned out beautifully. Tricia got a lot of baby supplies and a lot of love. I can't wait to meet my little nephew. I am sure Q will be teaching him the way of the world. So excited!
Then there is the Q-man. What else can I say? He is HUGE! Everyday he becomes more of a little person with routines, character, and little nuances that make him the most amazing little boy in the world. Okay, I know I am biased, but it is true to me :)
Quentin is beginning to stand on his own, he waves, he dances, and he is eating more and more adult food. Unfortunately, he has hit teething full force so this last week he has been fussier than normal. Here are my normal pictures and videos from the last month so you can see it all for yourself. Enjoy!

Time in a Bottle
I guess it's because I am not religious, and consequently do not have a particular belief that anything happens after death, that I have always been acutely conscious of taking in every moment of the one life I know I am guaranteed to have... this one. Ever since I was little I would frequently pause and allow myself to soak-in whatever moment in life I was experiencing, especially if it was a moment I deemed to be special. If I was at Disneyland at ten years old I would pause through out the day, look around and just soak in the happiness. When I am traveling in new places I am constantly taking moments in, trying to desperately hold on to them as long as possible by imprinting them in my memory. (Maybe this is why I have the memory of an elephant).
During my semester in London I inadvertently used music to help me remember every moment by listening to Coldplay as I traipsed all over the city. I never rode the tube (subway) because I didn't want to miss one second of living in my favorite city in the world. I walked everywhere in London, taking different routes everyday, trying to see as much of the city and the history as possible. I walked to my job at Harrods everyday, an hour and fifteen minutes each way, just to allow my eyes more moments to canvas the city. Now whenever I hear a song from Coldplay's first album, my mind takes me back to my time in London. It's amazing.
Since London and backpacking Europe, I have had many more soak-it-all-in moments, like my wedding, pregnancy, and special days in New York City.
Quentin has intensified my need to soak-in every moment. Everyday I find myself sitting and gazing at him, watching him learn about the world, fascinated with how he sees the world. I don't want to miss one single second of these precious times and I am desperately searching for the magic brakes that will allow me to slow down time so I can take every moment in. I have yet to find them. The difference with Quentin is that I am not just trying to imprint every moment in my memory, I am trying to imprint them in my lungs, in my skin, in my heart, anywhere I can.
A few minutes ago my little guy and I were sitting in the rocking chair for our nightly bedtime reading and listening to Coldplay lullabies. We sat and rocked and read. Q was running his little hand along my arm slower and slower as he became more and more tired. Usually we stop reading because Q gets fussy and squirmy but tonight he just sat and listened and touched my arm. When I finished the last book he grabbed my hand and we sat and rocked with Coldplay swirling through the air, my chin resting on the top of his head, my arms cradling his sides, rocking, rocking, rocking, until he fell asleep.
I may not be a religious person but that moment is my kind of heaven.
Jim Croce, you're a genius. Your song enters my head in these moments, everytime.
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

Quentin's Eighth Month
I think this last month was the busiest month since Quentin was born! Q learned so many new things this month- he thinks he is a two year old I swear! Here is the list...
1) says, "da da da"
2) eating real food at dinner with Mom and Dad
3) standing up in his crib (and anywhere else he can pull himself up)
4) sleeping schedule
5) When you say, "Where is Gussy?" he looks for our cat Gus
6) Had his first In N Out
7) Went to the beach for the first time
8) First Easter
9) Throws tantrums
10)LOVES when you chase him and say "I'm gonna get you!" :)
One of the biggest transitions for us was when I went back to work at the beginning of March. Although my first choice would be to stay at home full time, it has actually been a great experience for both of us. I love working and Quentin loves daycare. He loves the ladies who run it and he loves playing with the older kids. Knowing he is spending his time at a daycare he loves has made going back to work so much easier. I feel a little less guilty about it.
I am really enjoying being back at work and I love the school I am working at. I was originally hired for a six week substitute position and then I was offered a full-time permanent position as a Special Education Enrollment Teacher. If I could dream up the perfect job while I am a mom with young kids, this would be it. The position is at an independent study online school. I work out of the office in Simi two days a week and I work from home three days a week. It works perfectly for us because I can still work in education, doing what I love, and Q can go to daycare, which he loves, and he won't have to be there five days a week. I never imagined I would find a job in education where I get to work from home. Needless to say, I am really excited. The position is not a teaching position, it is an administrative position, which is a step up in a way. I am in charge of approving new special education students for enrollment, holding entrance IEP meetings, and approving initial IEPs. I will really enjoy working again when I am finished tutoring and only working one job.
Kevin, Quentin, and I had the last week off together for Spring Break. We have had a wonderful time hanging out at home and spending time together as a family. Tricia was visiting over the weekend and Q loves spending time with his Aunt Tink. She's such a natural with kids. Over our break we went down to Seal Beach to visit Great Grandma Penny and took Q to the beach for the first time, went to Escondido to visit Jess, Keith, and Averie, spent Easter at Great Grandpa Hugo's, and went to Disneyland with Grandma Marianne. We have had so much fun.
