Yes, I am. you may have forgotten me, or removed this community long ago, but I've come to share with those of you who are NOT dead that I've got a quaint little podcast and community going on over at Fall-Damage.com.
We talk about games, and whatnots. It's fun. You should come.
Check out our forums at fall-damage.com/forums The Podcast has been running since September and can be found on itunes, zune, and everywhere else. The Forums just launched this week, and so we need awesome people like you to join up and get to chit-chatting!
See you there!

Remember, entries for the current contest are due tonight at midnight.
Right now we're looking at 3 entries.... if there aren't at least a few more I'm going to just save us the effort of voting and choose the winner myself.
Also bear in mind, this will be your last chance at a contest for another week and a half, as I'm off on vacation next week and don't plan on bringing a computer!
current mood: hopeful

( There's a monster inside this cut!Collapse )
Voting ends Thursday night at midnight.
Sorry I'm a day late on posting this, but I blame the commisioner of my fantasy football league for running such a shoddy and time-consuming draft!
You can vote for your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd faves, or just your favorite if you prefer. You can't vote for your own entry, and you must vote to receive an award.

A little ahead of schedule, TheProtoCulture is officially back.
The trophy case has been taken down in order to be rebuilt. don't worry.... you'll keep your old trophies.
The first contest will be posted about 30 seconds after I hit "submit" on this one.
One on One's will return by this time next week.
A few minor format changes:
1) We're doing one community-wide contest per week. Some may be themed (like the lyrics challenges of old) 2) A single One-on-one challenge will occur per week (assuming anyone bothers to challenge their peers.) 3) As I've lost my ability to do polls in the last year, contest entries will have to be in screened comment form. This keeps me from being able to limit your characters though, so please, for the love of sweet turbo Jesus, don't write way too much to fit in the text bubbles. PLEASE.
Let's get it on!

The masses have been clamoring as of late. They clamor for the full return of theprotoculture. I can't say I blame them.... this community was a lot of fun.
I have several concerns about commiting to this community again. The most pressing is my everpresent time constraints. This community takes a significant amount of work. Near the end, when we were getting upwards of 15 submissions per contest, it would take me over an hour and a half to caption, save, upload, and post the submissions for voting. Add multiple contests into the mix, and things got out of hand.
Additionally I no longer have a paid account, so I would have to completely rework the submission process and do away with the traditional polls. I bet there are headaches there I'm not even considering yet.
So here are our options.
1) Someone with significantly more time on their hands (and a fair enough understanding of a piece of graphical editing software to be able to caption the comics) steps up to take over.
2) Someone with all the attributes of 1) but with somewhat less time on their hands steps up to take control of just the weekly caption contest, and I'm left with the 1 on 1's and theme contests.
3) Workload sharing.... where one person captions, one person posts, etc. (PS. This doesn't work.)
4) No one steps up, I cross my fingers that I can figure out a way to work this community without polls, I remove the theme contests, and we're left with one weekly contest and occasional 1 on 1's.
4b)Someone can buy me a paid account so I can keep the polls for submission. Also this person would be my best friend!
5) No one really cares and we all move on with our lives.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Oh, and while I have your attention, go check out my current community audiothesis.
