I guess "30" is supposed to be this huge milestone in life, whether it's because it's an end to the Roaring 20's and into the Great Depression, or just because it starts the beginning of a new decade of living. To me, it's a time to reflect on past years and think of what I've learned and what I appreciate about my existence on Earth. I decided that a while ago that "30" is when things are really gonna start to get GOOD!!! So, here are a few {random} thoughts for my 30th:
1. There is a God in Heaven. I don't know how people choose to go about their existence and refuse to acknowledge that there is a Heavenly Father who loves us. The knowledge of life after death is one of the things that keeps me sane in the crazy world we live in. If there was nothing beyond just "living" there is nothing to "live" for.
2. I love trees.
3. I'm a girly girl. I don't know how long I've tried to reject the fact that I am. I can say that I don't care what I look like when I go out in public without my make-up, that I really don't like the color PINK, that I don't care for ribbons, and lace, and ruffles, and all that other froo-froo stuff....but....I DO!!!
4. Family. I don't know where I'd be without Jay and my children. They make every day worth it!
5. I'm not as funny as I think I am. I don't know how many times I've chuckled for hours over some random, silly thought I've had, just to relay it to someone else and have them stare back stone-faced. But hey, as long as I am easily entertained, life will never be dull!
6. Never underestimate that power of a hurtful word. They stick around long after the hurt feelings are gone. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!
7. Never underestimate the power of a KIND word. Sometimes it's all that is needed to turn that bad day around.
8. Chocolate is my best friend. Next to my hubby and "people" friends, of course. If all else fails....eat a piece of chocolate. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
9. I have no desire to read the Twilight series. So stop telling me I "have to read the books". Sorry, I'm just not gonna do it {yet}. I won't say never, 'cuz I don't want to be eating my words later....
10. A close girlfriend is priceless. There are somethings you can tell that BFF that you can't talk about with anyone else. (You know who you are! :)
11. I'm biased. I truly think my kids are the most beautiful children in the world!!! But yours are pretty cute too.
12. Learn to embrace mistakes you've made in the past. As long as you've learned something from them... Mine have made me who I am today, and I think I'm pretty cool.
13. This is harder than I thought. Thinking of 30 thoughts for my 30th started out as a cool idea, but it's not as easy as I anticipated. I will rethink the idea when my 40th birthday rolls around.
14. It's okay to have {a} gray hair. Yes, I found my first one (and only one) a week ago. Fitting isn't it? I thought I'd never see the day because I like to color my hair, but I haven't for a little while and I found it! It was in the back and I had to yank it out to see if it was real or my bad eyesight. Sure enough, it was a gray. So when you grow back, my one little gray hair, I shall embrace you!! But, I can't promise you won't get a fresh coat of paint...I mean... C'mon!!! I'm a hair stylist!!!
15. Be forgiving. It is required. Of course I have the choice, but the Savior has forgiven me of my mistakes and if I want to be like Him, I can forgive others of theirs as well.
16. Always say you're sorry. Despite what I think, I am not always right.
17. I love music! I'm not talking about lyrics. I'm talking about the notes, the tempo, the timbre! So much feeling can be felt by the composition of a song that words alone cannot express. It is BeAuTiFuL!!!
18. There is so much beauty is this world. Go ahead! Smell that flower, do some cloud watching, feel the grass between your toes! Step back and take a minute to soak in God's creation!
19. Spontaneity is key. Don't {always} plan...just do!
20. I love working with my hands. Hands can do so many AmAzInG things. I love doing and creating.
21. Love yourself and all those in this world. Flaws and all...
22. Exercise your mind, body, and spirit. They all go hand in hand.
23. No debt is good debt. Lesson learned and a hard one at that. "When you run in debt; you give to another power over your liberty." ~Benjamin Franklin
24. It's okay to be childlike. Children forgive quickly, have unconditional love, and can find fun anywhere! Next time I'm at the grocery store, I may just giggle and run down the aisles.
25. I'm a blog stalker. Don't worry, I'm not hiding in any bushes or following you from site to site, but I may check up on you frequently.
26. Today is special. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. (Sorry if that is TMI)
27. I still love watching cartoons.
28. The best nights are after clean sheet day. There is little better than slipping into bed after washing the sheets. Oooo! That's nice!
29. Ask and ye shall receive. Another hard one for me. I have always been independent and it's hard to admit when I need help... to myself... to anyone. I'm getting over myself, but it's been a rough journey.
30. The best is yet to come. I've barely experienced what my life has to offer. This is a small fragment in the eternities. "30" is not a time to look back and pine away for youth. I look forward with excitement!!! There is so much in store!
