Art bra competition

Last year I entered an art bra into the wonderful website of the Way to Women's Wellness. For the past several years they created calendars and note cards as well as took the art bras on tour. The white crystal bra (it's called "I'm a bling, bling, girly girl") is the one that I completed on time to be accepted for the tour. It was an honor to me to be a part of such a wonderful event! The other picture is of a bra that I didn't get done on time. I really liked how it turned out and it honors both breast cancer survivors as well as those who are survivors of September 11th. I call this bra the "Twin Towers." It is a silhouette of the twin towers before 9/11 against a night sky and there are stars throughout and some stars seem to spell out the message of "hope." I love that word....it is what helps us to hang on and to see ourselves through whatever it is that we might be experiencing. Here is to the message of hope in your life.

My First Book

Here is a link to my first book called, "A Survivor's Gift." http://www.lulu.com/ You can put in the title in the search section at lulu if you would like to order a copy. It makes a wonderful gift for yourself or a loved one who is going through a difficult time. It is dedicated to survivor's everywhere.

Also, would you please share what it means to you to be a survivor as well as what you have learned?

Thank you!

Doll Challenges

My passion is dollmaking as well as guiding others through their own personal journey of healing through the art of dollmaking. This past year I created a doll to send into a challenge called, "History in the Making." My doll did not place but I liked her because she represented to me what is true for all of us. Her title was, "Listen, honey, I am history in the making." We are all history in the making. Our stories are unique to us alone. They say that when a person dies that so does a library. What is in your library? We all bring such incredible gifts to share with one another.
Our pastor gave an incredible sermon on the Sunday before Christmas. He showed a clip from Britain's Got Talent. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mn6HGMfxIVQ
I have to tell you the story and the message that our pastor gave. The man (Paul) that you see in this clip (be sure to let it buffer before playing it) was a mobile phone salesperson. The judges ask Paul what he is going to do and he says that he is going to sing "opera."When you watch the clip you can tell that the judge on the left gives Simon the "yeah, right look." But, as soon as Paul starts to sing, the mood immediately changes both with the judges and the audience. The judges and the audience are in "aah." I would like to give you a little bit of background on Paul (as told by our pastor). As a child he was bullied by kids at school. After school he would wait for the bullies to go home, so to wait he would go into the music room and that is where he learned opera. The point of the message was, "you never know what special gift" lies within people. Look for the special gift within everyone you meet." Isn't that an awesome message? We all are so special. What is your special gift?
