THE HUMBIRD'S AGENDA, learning from hopelessness and the radical representation of the heart

That state prior to awakening has a name. It is called hypnopompia (also hypnagogia). It is where the subconscious and the conscious meet, it is where many of the dreams that we retain until wakefulness are produced, and perhaps that is why it is a time of great creativity where interesting ideas emerge. Or at least that is what happens to me. Well, some of those ideas that appear do so simply in the form of words, and recently some of them repeated in my head: "the hummingbird's agenda". As messages that my subconscious insists on sending me, when this awakening happens to me I keep thinking about the meaning or symbolism of the words after waking up, and if I do not see it clearly I usually do some research. Normally what happens is that I soon find some meaning that, although unsuspected, inevitably resonates with me, as if my subconscious was sending me that message in the form of a key, both for its occult and its importance. Well, Agenda comes from the Latin: agenda...

Layers of observation

Layers of observation (social context): 1. (1 minute): Sensory perceptions present: colours, sounds, smells, lights, shapes. Moods. Facts. Superficial impressions. Explicit relationships. 2. (1 hour): Rhythms. Short-term cycles. Basic relationships. Cause-effect. Surface links. Sensory changes. Practical patterns. Conventions. Personality features. 3. (1 day/week): Implicit or hidden relationships. Expression of subtle cultural patterns. Circadian cycles. Local moods. Current social energy. 4. (1 month/year): Intuitive energetic relationships. Complex relationships. Historical momentum. 5. (+ 1 year): I as an element of observation and as an agent of change. Transformations manifested on a human scale.

The theory of the dying

A couple of themes have been very present in my life in recent years: On the one hand, the need for a paradigm shift as a priority in the face of a balloon that is swelling and cracking much faster than the patches we put on it can slow it down (let alone deflate it). Alternative economies, community subsistence, the permacultural vision in its most holistic vision. "It is not worth fighting for a future that does not exist in the present. So let's bring the future as soon as possible because in the present we are losing the battle. On the other hand, a theory that emerged with two friends on a cold beach some years ago. We could call it the theory of the dying. It comes from reflection in the face of a paradox. The planet that hosts us, the living organism in which humanity lives, is sick, with symptoms of a disease that could be fatal. We, that cancerous cell that is killing it from within. Does it make sense for us to continue fighting for a humanity that seems to want to ...

Vital (non-measurable) Indicators

For much of our lives, measurable experiences are what we tend to use to evaluate the achievement of the main objective: "to live and grow". Thus, we accumulate experiences: happy moments, discoveries, pleasurable sensations, laughter, euphoric perceptions of the senses, and learning through rational and logical understanding of the "functioning of the world", or even consequences and reactions of our actions and relationships in it and in others through what we understand as the mission or the meaning of life. In a way, they are what make us feel "more" alive, in a sense of growth by accumulation or development. Once we have reached spiritual maturity, all these indicators, which continue to be potential sources of growth, only gain recognition of their ultimate value if they contribute to nourishing others that are not so easily measured, such as the quality of our reactions and attitudes to what happens, the degree of attention, presence, connection, e...

Pandemic Insights (II): IN THE EYE OF THE NOISETORM - by Sicopol

What the world has been experiencing for the past year is what some call a "total social event", in the sense that it is shaking up all social relations and actors, institutions and values. Right now, the pandemic has taken us into a profound state of psychological and social entropy. And when the world around us changes and becomes uncertain, we have two paths: to sink into entropy or to emerge with a new equilibrium. A moment like this can be a turning point, an inaugural experience for humanity. My work in the humanitarian world has led me on several occasions to experience what a major natural disaster means, and the world it leaves in its wake. In those moments, during and also after, there is a lot of confusion. The most basic structures of society and community are shaken. We lose our reference points, we feel out of place, we face a new reality to adapt to. Dynamics and behaviors that we took for granted no longer apply, we do not know h...

Pandemic Insights (I): LISTENING OUR FUTURE BREATH - by Sicopol

I would like to start with a confession. During this crisis we are all currently living, a part of me has been secretly happy to hear how figures of affected people were increasing in some places. Of course my stronger feeling was an honest sadness and worrying. But, beneath this first layer, a part of me was accepting a great human suffering as a kind of worthy sacrifice, if this would actually help to decrease the power of certain leaders who are not, in my opinion, ruling and taking decisions based in empathy, social justice and human dignity. And maybe this could also help the so called awakening of our society. Maybe you mirror with what i am saying or you just think that I have a hidden monster. Maybe both thoughts are valid. But, leaving aside a pragmatic discussion about its actual worth or not, or even the moral discussion about which would have been my decision if I had the power to control those figures, this activated a warning in my consciousness. And I think acknowledge t...
