You might want to turn your volume down for this one. Jacob has learned the art of shrieking and spitting...two wonderful additions to his abilities. (By the way, sorry the image stops part way through) The shrieking part is especially wonderful when we are in church. The spitting part is extra special when I am feeding him. It is like a war zone! I am getting pretty good at dodging those pureed carrots. Solid food is going great though, besides all of the spitting. He loves his carrots. He won't eat his cereal now though unless he has bananas mixed in with it. He needs his iron so I give in.

Jonathan has been busy with finals. Only one day left!!!! We have hardly seen him at all this week. He took his organic chemistry final today and just has histology and genetics tomorrow. Then, we are off to Oregon! We leave for Boise tomorrow in the late afternoon. We will stay with some friends there and then leave for Medford the next morning. Hopefully we will reach Medford by the middle of the afternoon!

As for our Christmas break plans....we are going to spend time in Medford first and then on the morning of the 26th, leave for Weaverville. We hope to drive through Redding that day and see some family members while we pass through. Then, we will spend time in that area until about the 5th of January. Then, back up to Medford to pick up Nikita and a friend of hers and back to school! So, family and friends from the area, this is when we will see you! And we can't wait to be home for a while. Hope everyone's holidays are going well so far. See most of you soon!!!!

Happy 5 Month Birthday Jacob! A lot has happened this past month. For one, we all went down to Salt Lake a few weeks ago so that Jonathan could interview for a sales job with Orbit Medical. He ended up receiving an official offer from the company. This is the only job that he has applied for, so we still have more looking to do. There is a downside though, we would most likely move to Chicago. It would only be for 2 to 3 years though, because he will then be able to qualify for a good mba (masters of business administration) program at a university. Trust me, we are looking for jobs in the Northwestern part of the United States. School is going well for him even though this is his toughest semester. He has both an organic chemistry and genetics test this week!!!!! I remember those days....

We recently received temporary callings at church to coordinate the volunteers for the Rexburg Temple open house. The open house will run all through January, leaving lots of room for volunteers. We both feel so blessed to have this opportunity to be a part of this unique experience. Jacob went to the doctor's office this past month. He went a couple of weeks ago and weighed in at 16 lb.s 12 oz. and was 26.75" long. One of the most exciting events that has happened in Jacob's life this month of November was trying solid foods for the first time! The day before Thanksgiving he tried a little rice cereal mixed with breastmilk - YUM! Now he is on to bigger and better things - sweet potatoes. He can't seem to get enough or keep it all in his mouth. He also believes that he can handle it all on his own. He will grab onto the spoon and then won't give it back.

As for me, my life is my family as any mother knows. I love (nearly) every minute of it. We really are blessed. I can't get over how much I love Jonathan and Jacob more and more every day.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We love you!

He finally did it!!!! Jacob finally rolled over yesterday. He rolled from his tummy to his back. He rolled over twice yesterday and once today to confirm my observations. He will be 4 months old on Saturday. I must say that he definately loves his "tummy time" more now that he is not staring at the floor :) .

Our First Snow Experience!

October 18th, 2007

It is another beautiful fall day in Rexburg, Idaho. Jacob is down for a nap (which will probably be the situation every time I update our blog) and I just viewed a blog for a close friend of mine and thought that this would be a fun thing to do and a great way to update friends and family that are far away from here.
Today is a pretty typical day for the Wright family. Jonathan got up early and was off to school by seven. He has a histology (tissues) test closing tomorrow and both an organic chemistry and genetics tests next week. Needless to say, he won't be doing much for his birthday tomorrow. Jacob and I spend the day with typical mother son tasks. I wake up to him letting me know he is up and ready to eat. He eats, I change his diaper and clothes, we play for about an hour and then he is down for his first nap. I then snag this opportunity to shower, eat breakfast, and get ready for the day. If I can do all that before he wakes up then I am on a roll! Jacob is usually awake by this time and we play until he gets hungry again. I then feed him, change his diaper, and then put him in his play gym while I do some chores around the house. He will then let me know he is ready for a nap (any mom knows how this works - he gets cranky :) ). This is the time we usually go for a walk because he loves to sleep in his stroller. At night he has his bath around 7:30, we read a story a couple of times, I feed him, and then he is down for the count. Well, he is down until he wakes up at 2:00 A.M. letting me know he is hungry. And so this is how my day goes. Every now and then we have something different like a doctor's appointment or a trip to the library. And Jacob always knows how to make things different like spitting up all over me, the couch, and him :) . I must say though that I love being a mom. I love being able to watch him explore this new world. For example, I forget how exciting hands are until I see Jacob stare at them for 15 minutes or so. I love to see him smile and wiggle with joy when he sees me in the morning. He is so wonderful and such a blessing for our new little family.
