So, we've been watching
Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 3 again. The Nickelodeon cartoon,
not the sorry excuse for a movie that M. Night Shyamalan made. And I noticed that Mark Hamill does one of the voices! So I
IMDb'd him and found out that he plays the
Fire Lord Ozai:
Which is totally rad! THEN I saw when his (Mark Hamill's) birthday is: September 25th!
That's my Luke's birthday!
Luke and Luke Skywalker are birthday buddies! Geeeeeeeeek ouuuuuuut!!!!!!!!
OK, well maybe that's not so ground breaking...... How's this? Luke finally said his first word!! He has never tried to imitate words or sounds that we make (aside from "Mmhmm!" and "Uh, oh") but I got him to say "Wow" yesterday. At 19 months old. We are so excited. He can also give high-fives and kisses now. Atta boy! So glad I didn't pay for that hearing test or speech lessons.
I need to catch up from Easter:
The egg coloring kit we had used liquid dye that you applied with a paintbrush. Madelyn thought it was awesome. She still has blue and pink elbows.
Taking a little carrot break
Here's the Easter dress I got for Madelyn, except we didn't end up taking her to church. She developed a nasty sounding whooping cough over the weekend. We weren't sure if it was actually pertussis (since she's been vaccinated) but it sounded exactly like it, so Mark put her on antibiotics just in case so at least she wouldn't spread it around (pertussis is caused by a bacterium). She's feeling much better now, thank goodness.

The Easter Bunny was
generous this year! The first six
Harry Potter movies on Blu-ray?! Someone must have found them at Wal-mart for $10 during a special sale. Or something.

Mark had been bugging me to get this watch for weeks. I found it on ebay for half price. He also just got himself a winding pocket watch, because he fancies himself a 50-year-old man. Actually, he claims he's
always wanted one, but whatever. Men.

Madelyn is delighted with her Rapunzel doll. She's been carrying her around everywhere, sleeping with her and brushing her hair.

Luke wasted no time going straight for a Snickers egg.

I tried out my new reversible apron that Nadia made me. Isn't it fabulous??

I made ham, "Murset potatoes", (frozen) rolls and
miniature lemon cheesecake tarts. Luke helped by crushing a bunch of muffin liners and squashing the cream cheese with a potato masher he found.
The day before, Mark planted our first tree, a Royal Red Norway Maple. It's pretty skinny but tall. We'll plant a few other trees once we get the chance.
This gave the kids an excellent opportunity to get muddy.
Look how pretty! They smell good, too. It's finally springish here!
I'm glad I took this picture, because these blossoms were literally only going to be there for another five minutes.
SOMEONE keeps ripping the flowers off the stems! I've caught him in the act three or four times now. Rrrrrr.......
Luke's been so busy with his shenanigans that I can hardly keep up. He's created three more messes just while I was doing this post!
**Luke wants me to mention a reminder that Madelyn used to be every bit the mischief maker that he is. Only a little less prolific. So apparently it's in his genes and he can't help it.
First there was the puddle he found and drenched himself in right after I'd gotten him dressed the other day...
He ran out (barefoot) into the garage and broke a vase...
Got into the wipes for the 1,000th time
He scribbled with pen on some fabric I was going to make a dress out of (it actually is pretty faint--I went over it in Photoshop so you could see better)
...helped undo the folded laundry...then he grabbed tank tops out of my drawer and put them directly into the dirty clothes hamper.
Ripped/chewed on some books...this drives me NUTS!
"I'll just go ahead and leave some raisins and goldfish for the ants on the floor."
"See ya later!"
