First day of 1st grade and last day of 1st grade.
We decided to have her wear the same outfit, so as to make the day more emotional for me.
I went into her room Thursday night and started blubbering like only a mother who has finally gotten her stubborn, whiny little daydreamer to the end of another school year. And also I was just so overjoyed to not have to do math+reading homework or get up early for another few months.
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............
May has been a busy month for Madelyn at school. There was her hammerhead shark poster/presentation (which she put together practically by herself)
Teacher appreciation week--Madelyn made Mrs. Comstock a pair of pretty earrings
Arts Night--performance to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
Madelyn LOVES Mrs. Comstock and would start crying any time the end of school was mentioned, because she was going to miss her so much.
Standing by her shark poster
And then her portfolio party! Oh and they went on four field trips during their last two weeks, had a cookie party, ice cream party, and a pizza party. Sheesh.
Luke spent the last day of school doing stuff that he always does, like suck on a wet paper towel that I used to wipe him off after lunch.
Then he played dress-up with his friend Ellie (can you tell he's used to playing with girls??). He kept pointing at his outfit and saying, "Boo-ful!" Yes, you look so beautiful.
After Madelyn got home, she talked us into taking her to the Aquatic Center with her friend Emma.
Those two are something else. They're going to take swim lessons together next month.
Luke livened things up by walking straight into the lazy river while Mark had his back turned and I was on the far end of the pool and I couldn't reach him. He went completely under, but Mark got to him right away. Then I gave him (Mark) my laser eyes of death and shouted at him right in front of everyone. It was a lovely moment.
Hoping your summer started of with a blast!
Now we get to go brave the 50°F weather and gale force winds for a cookout with friends! Cedar City didn't get the memo about the end of school/holiday weekend and all. Can't wait.
Oh yeah:
This is my 600th post!!!!!!!!!!!!
