I've been meaning to take some "real pictures" of Isabelle for her 1 year milestone. But the weather was cold, rainy and windy for the entire month of May. Finally, it warmed up and the sun came out, and yesterday we had some good lighting so I went for it.
Unfortunately, it was her nap time during my first attempt, so I only got a few pictures:
(Eating mulch and grass....) Then she tried to eat a dirt clod and Madelyn snatched it out of her hands, and she started screaming and wouldn't stop. So I put her down for a nap and we tried again a few hours later.
[eating more grass]
She is toddling everywhere now!

She is so precious and beautiful and we love her to pieces!
This Wednesday, I made 22 baby blankets and then two more on Thursday. I didn't MEAN to make that many--I just had this ginormous flannel stash for baby blankets, and my serger was finally working, and I had three or four babies to make blankets for.....
Anyway, now my baby gift stash is replenished. These are just simple, single layer blankets that are serged around the edge, so all I had to do was square up the fabric, do a little cutting and then finish the edges.
All the girl blankets
All the boy blankets
These are made of stretchy knit. They are really great for a lightweight swaddle that stays snug.
Flannel boy
Flannel girl
Cotton/microplush
Microplush is a beast to work with, because it's slippery and stretchy. On the right, I did the traditional method where you sew right sides together, turn it inside out and topstitch. On the left, I left the wrong sides together and just serged all the way around. I think it actually turned out better that way and looks neater.
These blankets are on reserve for my sister Maria, who is due in a few weeks with a baby girl.
And these were for Monica's beautiful baby girl, who was born yesterday!
Isabelle and I brought the blankets and some roses down to meet her last night.

She is so precious and we are thrilled that she's here!
Our little princess has started walking! She took her first steps at 11.5 months (just like Luke) and yesterday she really started taking off (at 12.5 months just like Madelyn).
For the past month, she has mostly been getting around by knee walking and crawling still, which she is very speedy at:
I've known that she was capable of walking, she just had to get brave. It's the best when she claps her hands! SO CUTE!
Okay, is it just me, or is May just total chaos?? Here's a bunch of random goings on that didn't make it to the other nine posts I've done this month...
Luke, making a pool for his gummy bears in his swim mask: "I'm not making a mess, it's SCIENCE."
Then I caught him with some styrofoam peanuts and asked him to clean them up. So of course he did this instead:
**serenity now**
This is how he chose to clean it up. It took a really long time.
Isabelle trashing my wallet
And trashing the diaper basket, and she managed to unscrew the lid to her prescription diaper rash cream and dig around in it.
Showing me how she can throw her food on the ground outside as well as inside.
Not to mention the laundry...
End of school explosion, which I always looove!
Luke also broke my tripod.
I am beginning to see a pattern to my stress here. Kids! YAY.
Tiger knows what I'm talkin' about!
Those two. Yesterday they made "glove buddies" by filling vinyl gloves with water and drawing faces on them. They have their own beds and everything.
Madelyn's shell shop
And her cute new glasses!
Choosing a new water pistol is serious business.

Isabelle is getting ready for our beach vacay in two weeks.
We had a get-together with some of Mark's family on Memorial Day weekend. We will be going to North Carolina with his whole family for a week on the beach. We are excited but I am super busy trying to get ready.
We are doing a group quilt and I am trying to figure out what blocks I will be doing. I haven't made any yet so I'm cutting it close. This week I'm going to pound them out! (Fingers crossed...)
My little sweetie had a fever from her one year shots and now has a cold. She is wearing me out!
