Pre-SPN squee

Thoughts are under the cut, for those being strong against spoilery temptation.

Mostly speculation though.

I'm so excited to get a Bobby centric episode! I think he's a great character, and Jim Beaver consistently hits it out of the park when he's playing him. Bobby reminds me of an old friend I miss terribly: salty, snarky, pulling no punches, loving as can be. He's a gruff old teddy bear and I adore him.

I'm pretty much pulling for an actual Bobby/Crowley relationship now. Not just because that kiss was the one actual undeniable slashy moment we've had so far, but because it's a great opportunity to turn stereotypes upside down. Bobby's about as far as you can get from the way bisexual characters have been portrayed on television in the past. This show (and I do LOVE this show) doesn't have the world's greatest record with bisexual-friendly moments either. The two that spring to mind are Castiel hosting orgies and Balthazar's reference to his menage-a-twelve. I didn't get the sense those girls were participating because they were genuinely attracted to each other, and Balth just used the experience to demonstrate how debauched he was. This is an opportunity for a different slant on the issue, and I do hope they take it.

I'm standing firm on Bobby being bi instead of gay as well. Nothing can convince me he didn't love his wife. I'd also really like to see bisexuality treated as a genuine sexual orientation, rather than just confusion or equal opportunism. As for Crowley, do demons HAVE sexual orientations? I'm not sure.

Next time you see a demon, ask him for me, okay? ;)

Maybe it won't happen and maybe it'll just played for laughs, but I've got faith in my show. It's a smart show. It just might do the right thing.

In other news, my mother is driving me cray-cray and I want her to stop calling for a while. Not forever, just long enough for me to miss her.

Also, we just had an earthquake while I was typing this! And an aftershock tremor while I typed that last sentence! Ah Japan! You're never boring!
