Ridiculous obscure fandom hurt
I went to go see the Dark Shadows movie last night.
I wasn't expecting it to be GOOD, or anything. The trailers looked horrible and I read a couple of reviews. The Depp/Burton team up is always hit or miss. But I LOVED the original TV series so much that I figured I'd get a thrill from it anyway.
But...
For me, and for a lot of the people who love the show, the center of it is the relationship between Julia and Barnabas. It didn't matter to me that we never actually saw the wedding (it was cancelled beforehand, but the showrunners assured the fans it was planned and explained how it would happen.) What mattered was the intenseness of the friendship, the fact that they would have done absolutely anything for each other and often did. These two damaged people finding that there was someone they absolutely couldn't live without was unbelievably sweet and true and I just ate it up with a spoon.
For him to KILL her? Just NO.
It's like an SPN movie where Sam kills Dean to get a happy ending with Ruby. Or a Buffy movie where Buffy kills Willow and ends up BFFs with Harmony. It just doesn't work.
Dammit. Where are my DVDs?
