SPN 6.02
Okay, so I finally saw episode 2. And I've got to say, I don't get what all the complaining is about.
It was GOOD.
Spoilers under the cut, but I think everyone but me has seen it already!
Genuinely scary in places - the opening with the mother hiding under the bed, covering his mouth with her bloody hand was chilling.
Dean's storyline was fascinating. He's so eager to give Ben a real life, but he honestly has no idea what that is. His own childhood was so messed up that he truly thinks he can keep his family in a bunker without either of them noticing something's wrong. And Sam - the one who honestly had a shot at a real life rather than playacting one - being the person to make him realize it? Brilliant. And nice call back to just how close these boys are. Makes Dean's realization that Sam set him and the baby up more upsetting.
Plus, Jensen Ackles with a baby? That was about one of the most adorable things I've ever seen.
I still don't trust the Campbells. Fortunately, I see Dean killing at least one of them, and that'll be awesome. But Samuel playing on the family connection by reminding Dean he held his baby mother? Very cool. Much more impressive than that whole "I thought we were family" direct approach. Samuel's gonna be interesting.
I don't get the Lisa bashing. I really don't. Is it a sideline of Daneel bashing, which I also don't get? It just seems like the bashers can't find any woman that would be "good enough" for Dean/Jensen, and a guy isn't a prize to be won by the "best" girl. I much, much prefer Dean with Castiel, but unless we get a very persuasive slasher on the writing staff that's not going to happen. That's what fanfic is for. And I find Lisa a lot more interesting than Cassie and a lot less annoying than Anna. Shame the relationship is doomed; I'd like to see it develop.
NEXT WEEK WE GET CAS! Oh, you lucky folks in decent TV zones that get Cas in two days - how I envy you!
