The Clause have spent the summer ramping up anticipation for the release of their debut album ‘Victim Of A Casual Thing’ on October 17th. Their recent single ‘Nothing’s As It Seems’ made a big impact, earning Radio X airplay from John Kennedy and landing on Spotify’s Proper Belters playlist. They’ve also been darting around numerous key festivals, bringing their electrifying energy everywhere from the Isle of Wight and Neighbourhood Weekender through to Mallorca Live and Polifonik Sound. Now The Clause continue to power ahead as they share their new single ‘Elisha’. ‘Elisha’ is driven by an instant earworm of a guitar riff which, combined with a classically colossal Clause chorus and some sparkling synth textures makes for an indie anthem that will appeal to fans of Sam Fender, Inhaler, The Killers and Catfish & The Bottlemen. And its breakdown is equally as effective, perfectly suited for inspiring immersive crowd interaction as their summer festival dates continue. The song’s vulnerable lyrics are an experience that’s personal to vocalist/guitarist Pearce Macca, but one that will be recognisable to so many fans: a romance that blossomed in very ordinary circumstances (in this case, behind a Wetherspoon in Leeds) but that still somehow lingers in the mind all these years later. Pearce says, "Written like a diary entry that was never meant to be read, ‘Elisha’ is a bittersweet anthem about the one who never really let go of my heart. It captures the ache of still being tethered to my first love. Despite trying to move on and trying to feel the same way about someone else, nothing’s ever stuck. I’m clinging onto teenage memories like an addict who can’t get clean. Writing ‘Elisha’ was a way of saying all the things I’m not brave enough to say out loud. It’s about feelings that have etched themselves onto my skin like a tattoo, only to wonder if this was all just my fantasy and doubting if they ever really felt the same at all?” ‘Elisha’ was written by The Clause and was produced by Matt Terry at VADA Studios. The producer hailed them as “one of the hardest working, dedicated bands I have ever worked with as well as being beautiful souls” and praised their upcoming debut album for being “great for all the reasons that make an indie album great.” ‘Victim Of A Casual Thing’ is available to pre-order HERE. It will be released on black vinyl, gold vinyl, CD, cassette and digital formats. Album bundles purchased from the band’s official store also offer signed vinyl and a bonus CD, while new merch designs are also available.
