Has anyone seen Tangled?

Can't tell you how many people have emailed/called/came up to Ryan to tell him he could sue Disney for stealing his face! He's working on his smoulder. As soon as he perfects it we'll do some comparisons. It's true ladies...I married a prince!

Did I mention we ran a marathon?

In September we ran a marathon with my awesome friend Kris. I had run one previously when I was in far better shape and had plenty of time on my hands to train...which I didn't. That was in the good ol' days of 2006 when I had much more energy to work out as often as I wanted, I made $10 an hour at my job so there was not an ounce of responsibility taking up my time, where I could literally stay up all night with friends and look refreshed and peppy in the morning. I ran that marathon without any training. Serious. I ran a few miles here and there but my longest training run took me about an hour and a half to do. When I got home I was sure that I had run 20 miles. I got in my car (you remember the ghetto-gansta car don't you?...oh no? Well, I took pics of it for such an occasion) and clocked the mileage to find that I had only run 9 miles. Boo! So I ran my marathon a month later and it only took me 4.5 hours. It was awesome and I didn't hurt a bit. This marathon was a bit different. I didn't have all the time in the world to train...but I did. We ran 18, 20, 22 miles before and every Tues/Thurs/Sat would make sure that they were dedicated to running days too. That was Kris and I at least. Ryan didn't train. He ran the long runs with us. The 18 miler we planned to go down Big Cottonwood Canyon. After nine miles down Ry decided he didn't like down so he ran UP the last nine! If any of you know BCC you know that the last stretch is the steepest. He's nuts. We ran the Top of Utah in Logan. Gorgeous. The first 19 I thought were good. The last 7 were a real test of commitment. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to duck into a restaurant or shop hang out for an hour and then get a lift to the finish line. Ryan finished first at 3 hours and 25 minutes (I think...and remember...no training), Kris finished at 4.5 hours (my previous untrained record) and I finished at 5.23 hours. What a bummer but at least I finished. It was great. We are training for the SLC now and I hope to shave off at least a few minutes. I posted a few pics but just remember when you think I look awful (if you haven't seen me in a while) don't be jaded. After 5.23 hours I looked pretty haggard. Although Ryan was the winner for his time we all agreed that I am the winner for perseverance....no one else could run for 5.23 hours! Ryan finished in 3 because he thought the idea of running any longer was awful. Winners all around I guess.

The ghetto-gangsta. I actually really miss this car. We went through a lot of good and bad times together. We sold it super cheap since it wasn't worth much but I sure wish she was still around. She had so much class!

I've decided to stop making promises...

After several failed attempts at keeping up on my blog I have decided to promise no more and simply post. I realized I was spending so much time looking at other's blogs that I could use just a small portion of mine to update. We have been up to so much lately it's hard to know where to start. The upstairs is almost finished. Fireplace is the last thing on the list. Working on that as soon as school is out...can't hardly wait. Will attempt to post pics before the new year. No promises!
Ryan's family came to town in August. It was a breath of fresh air to be visited for once rather than be the one doing the visiting. Everyone came. We stayed at our friend's cabin, went on hikes, Lagoon (which I absolutely love...crazy I know. I still get excited to go...and the night before I can't sleep because I'm planning out my day. What rides to go on first, which rides would be best at the hottest part of the day. I even love the bacteria-ridden Lagoon-a-beach which I contracted a wart on my foot from this year and am having mixed feeling about returning next summer. Gross. I can't even think about where it might have come from.) farmer's market. I already miss summer just thinking about it.

Just as promised...I am back. I hope to be visiting here more frequently. It's an easy task when you only make two posts a year. I think I may keep this resolution after all. Here's the update on the Tomki's. Last February we put an offer on a project of a house and it finally closed in the middle of May. Ryan got burned so our summer was spent re-covering (the both of us) and then got to work on the house. We moved in with our DEAR friends Doc and LeeAnne (who I adore) and got to work on the house. If you ever thought it would be a good idea to buy a house from the 30's and fix it up...you are right. You just have to have TONS of money and TONs of time and a fountain of house fixer-upper knowledge. We didn't really have any of those things...except for my dad...he is definitely the fountain of house anything knowledge. We could not have done it without him! Thanks Dad! Love you so much! So after much of a hit to our savings account and a session of therapy that brought our marriage back together (Not kidding in the slightest. You want to find out if you love your spouse you need to remodel a house together and if you are still together and love each other afterwards you are golden!)we finished the upstairs and moved in the week of Christmas. May I just say that I LOVE my house? It was so stressful for me to put all of the things together. We had to decide everything from scratch. We took everything out and down and built it back up again. It is so fun to see what our style is as a couple and fun for our friends to see what we have chosen to do in the house. Pictures don't do this place justice before or after. It was a mess before and it is so pretty now. Imagine 11 layers of wallpaper that all had to come down because there was mold in between every single layer! Not joking. The place smelled awful. The majority of our summer last year was spent scraping wallpaper. Too fun. Really. We have moved onto the yard and the basement but the pressure is off to rush through the work so it's turned into something fun rather than a war zone. Pictures describe things so much better than words sometimes so here are some pics of the before. The after pics are to follow soon. Just want you to soak it all in.

Like I said...pics don't do it justice. I bet you can't wait to see what it looks like now. Give me the weekend and I'll have the update!

We welcome 2010 with OPEN arms!

I am back!
I waited until February to begin my New Year's resolutions. Why you ask? Because I am so sick of not accomplishing them. There's too much pressure for the start of the year. So am starting now. Sure enough...updating blog on the list. More to come.
See you soon.
Signing off for now but not for long...T
