A mother's love....Three Muses...Wings of Angels

Image
My mom is on the wings of Angels now....free of her old body that was failing her so much.
Our love will never die. Just pray one day we see each other again!
I also thank God for giving her to me...such a blessing she was to everyone.
And I thank Him for taking her this week as she was suffering more and more from old age.
She always said she lived a good life and was blessed with wonderful children...and a loving husband.
Married for 68 years as of last July.
Will never forget her.
Love you forever and ever Mom. xoxo

My Mom

Image
My sweet mom  passed away tonight. She was such a wonderful mom and I'll miss her so so
much. I know she is in a better place now in the light of God's love.
I'll keep her forever in my heart and I pray to see her again one day.
She was my best friend, my greatest supporter, my inspiration, my mommy.

Doorways ***Three Muses***

Image
This was originally a photo of a doorway I took while visiting London with my
son, Kyle. I was so fascinated by all the gorgeous doors and architecture.
I used some filters here, vintage gypsy photo, and old iron keys.
She is comtemplating this closed door...does she keep staring at this door,
or does she take a chance and open up a new one? Which key will she use?

OH AUTUMN ***Three Muses***

Image
I don't know when I have longed for the Fall as much I have this year. The summer was hot and humid, my flowers didn't do well, the grass was so dry, and I've felt the duldroms.
I long for the brighter oranges, reds, browns, the cooler temps, the scarecrows, the pumpkins,
the falling leaves.
I'm a Fall kind of girl...
I love this little art deco lady...and she was just right for my digital design.

***ANGELIC***THREE MUSES

Image

My sweet niece MacKenzie epitomizes "Angelic" in my mind. If I could
have a daughter, she would be my ideal, but I'm blessed to have her for my
niece. Did I mention she loves to do ART?
*She is my shining star.*
Thanks to the Three Muses for their inspiration.

Quirky, Whimsical, Humorous *THE THREE MUSES*

Image
Digital collage with images from Fiddlette, Maya, Google, Graphics Fairy,
and Tangie.
My niece's daughter is coming to visit me for a few days this week and I hope us "girls"
will have a blast like the girls here! She is so shy like I was as a child so hoping
she will stay. I was always so nervous to go away from home so I sure can understand
her feelings. At the same time, I am so excited and can't wait!

Too busy to blog...

I just don't have much time for blogging these days...although I do miss it. I love visiting friends in blogland and seeing all the new creations and decors and inspirations that just flow and flow and FLOW out there!

I have been busy with all the normal things...plus my parents and their problems...but new life abounds here with a new litter of five puppies...all GIRLS! They make me laugh every day and inspire me to create more dog stuff for Cavalier lovers. Then I am always trying to skype with my two sons these days...one in college and the other still in London getting his Masters. I MISS THEM sooo much....no Easter Bunny stopped by this weekend! First time in 18 years!! I even had to dye eggs by myself...booo hooo. Such is life I suppose and we must embrace the moments we have now so I will do that with gratitude and a open heart!

Enough chattering here...

Image
I thought I'd share a few new of my doggie creations.

Happy Spring....the flowers are finally blooming away and we are up to the 80's today!

Famous Quotes *Three Muses challenge*

Image
A fun challenge! I enjoyed playing with this piece so much. You wouldn't believe how many times I changed these colors!!!

"The journey is the reward," is a Chinese Proverb. I love that proverb and I think it's so important to remember.

I never really knew much about Albert Einstein until my youngest son read a book about his life. Then I happened on a documentary on him on TV and I just love so many of his quotes.

This one just really hits me. I am not a scientific person, unlike my son, but I think no matter how much of a genius you are, life is still a mystery and Einstein embraced that...

Really the French postcard here is the focal point and I just played with the filters and colors. Something about the domino edging went with Einstein in my mind...not sure if he'd approve though!

The stars were a png graphic from Paper Whimsy. I just changed them to pink.

Thanks to the Three Muses for their motivation!

White/Black Swan *Three Muses Challenge*

Image

I so enjoyed this challenge, I decided to make two...the first of Marie Antoinette...I used graphics from google, a postcard image of Marie, and a few graphics from a book by Anna Corba, called ALPHABETS & ORNAMENTS. I thought the snakeskin edging was appropo.

Then I recently saw THE BLACK SWAN at the theatre and got inspired. It was such a tense movie...I liked most of it other than a few parts...I love ballet and Natalie Portman was just fabulous. I think it's a love/hate type of movie in more ways than one! :)
Image
I used google images, a photo I took of a real black swan in London by Buckingham Palace,
my photo editor, and the wings I had stored for quite some time and can't recall where they came from...the red border just seemed fitting.

Pink Saturday Doll

Image
I am a sucker for old dolls...but I am very picky. I love the chinas and the creamy sweet bisque faced dolls from Germany but now and then I find one that was artist made with loving hands that is irresistible.

Image

This is a stockingnette dollie from the 1930's. Her whimsy and sweet silk dress all in PINKS just made her a must have for me.
She has a molded painted face and is stuffed wire armature covered in silk.
She has a wire hoop petticoat under her dress and a matching hat with old lace accents. I love her flirty eyes and expression and her blond mohair.

Happy Pink Saturday!!

Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for hosting!

FASHION *Three Muses Challenge*

To me, the QUEEN of the word "fashion" was Carrie Bradshaw...oh to be her in NYC for a year! Such a contrast to my life right now...it would be so much fun and so wonderful to wear all those gorgeous clothes and shoes!

Image

*Photomontage using google imagery and my photo editing program "Picture It".

At the moment I have on my grey flannel PJ bottoms with hearts, my bright pink Valentine nightgown, and my floral fuzzy robe with my favorite pink crocs on my feet....quite the picture of fashion...and definitely "fashion road kill"!!

Three Muses...Sulamith Wolfing

Image
For The Three Muses challenge this week I chose the artist Sulamith Wolfing. I love her work...so spiritual and mystical. I used filters and overlays. Images from google. Love her use of angels and butterflies, light and darkness...Her faces are so breath taking.

Here are pics of the work that I used in this digital collage.

Journal page 3 LOVE IN BLOOM

Image

Just had some fun playing with this page...used pinks and purples, some black and white tissue paper I found at Michael's, and my Radiant rain pink grapefruit mister, chalks, and those finger paint tubs which I can't recall the name of!  I had a  fabric bird where the vintage flower is, but didn't like it. So yanked it off and found that in my flower box. It has the cutest little powder puff as it's center. I made the center of the other flowers with little old crochet medallions I had in my stash.

So fun to just do and not *think* in this journal, although I still worry too much about the outcome!
It was looking so messy for a while and I hated it...so that's why I ended up
slapping the flowers down to hide the ugliness...so glad God gave us flowers in life.

      Image

What I also love doing is playing with the filters on my editing program as well....kind of liked it without color too...

Journal page 2

Image
I am almost finished undecorating but not quite....she's in between Christmas and Valentine's  too I suppose. I created this page over many days,
...just here and there when I find a spare ten minutes or so.....

Image
I painted gold gesso first from Daniel Smith...nice stuff for a background...it's shiny so it will stand out if you have empty spots after covering it.I used some leftover Christmas wrapping paper and Christmas napkins. Just decoupaged them but I used sparkly decoupage so the page is all glittery. Not sure if you can tell here.

Image
Love copic markers and Paper Whimsy girls. Found the wings on a cardstock I'd printed last year
and made them match her dress and the backdrop.

Image
She comes out of her pocket and holds her favorite word. I added a red velvet ribbon to her heart so she could
be hung on a Christmas tree or Valentine's tree...but for now she'll live in my journal.

Hope you all are safe indoors and finding warmth and love in your homes.
Cold here today...no snow yet but they are predicting it again tonight.
Happy creating in your journals if you have one!

Art journal 2011

Image
I have decided to keep an art journal this year. It's my "Anything Goes" journal. I went to Barnes & Noble and found this great media notebook, bigger than the moleskins and has nice thick watercolor paper.
I had almost given up hope in finding one but there is was on the top shelf.
Had to get a stool to reach it but it was there waiting for me.
Image
It's by Canson...here's the label in case someone out there wants one like it.
Image
My first page...I always liked this photo of me as a little girl...of course it's one of maybe four that I have! I digitally framed it and added a victorian
initial page of  "B's" behind it...scanned it and then change it's coloring to black and white.
Painted the page with my two favorite colors, turquoise and pink.
Stenciled over it, doodled, and added these little dots that I had left over from my kindle's decal skin. Added the ribbon and butterfly, rub-on word and the music "by the sea". I don't know why but I want to be by the ocean more this year. I feel like I need it's soothing powers right now.
Of course I had to sprinkle glitter over the whole page...pinks, turquoise, and silver.
Used  silver stickle to make the year.
Image
"Happy May The New Year Be..."
I hope it's happy. My mom has been ill and it's so hard to see her go from bad to worse to good again and to bad again....it's a cycle that isn't most likely going to change. I have to accept that and be thankful for each day but it is a constant roller coaster ride.
I hope to use my journal to find some solace time, to find a place to run away to and give in to that need of just letting my inside out. I don't know what each page will bring. No rules or promises or obligations...but I hope
to do whatever and maybe share a page now and then.

Hope you all have a great 2011!!!
