| > PLAYER INFORMATIONNAME: Sam PRONOUNS: she/her AGE: 29 CONTACT: verities> CHARACTER INFORMATIONNAME: Cameron CANON: Terminator: the Sarah Connor ChroniclesAGE: apparent age - ~19 ( note: Cameron is a terminator, it is unknown when she was created, but she is modeled after a 19 year old woman named Allison Young, and as a machine she appears to be mentally of an adult age/sophisitication )CANON POINT: end of season 2 HISTORY: CAMERON WIKIAPERSONALITY: As a note: Most of Cameron's timeline takes place in the "past" with John Connor of the past. Unless noted otherwise, most references to people, places, and events are in this timeline. Otherwise, future events and interactions from before she time travels back will be noted as such.
The first thing to note about Cameron is that she is not human. Cameron is a terminator. As she defines it, she is a cybernetic organism that is living tissue over a metal endoskeleton. Where humans have a brain that works in tangent with chemicals and stimuli to create emotions, Cameron has a processing chip stored in her head. This chip allows Cameron to analyze the world through a clinical lens. Cameron once notes that terminators store and process data and memories like a catalog, unlike humans, when referring to Vic's chip while John works on it. This implies that terminators, including Cameron, have a different way of processing information in their chips. They find logical groupings and trees and branches through which they keep their data for quicker processing.
Additionally, Cameron's body interacts with the world differently than that of a human's. She experiences things like sensations, stating she has the ability to feel the wind or get cold and wouldn't be very useful if she couldn't. However, she seems to have the ability to disregard these sensations when she ignores pain from damaged tissue or stands too close to a fire. Additionally, Cameron has the ability to "eat" food. It's not fully explained how she does this or what the experience is like for her, but it's another example of how she can imitate humanity but process it differently. For her, it's an action that generates a reaction she wants from human. It's not an activity based in hunger or driven by desire. Other varying experiences come in the form of a lack of aching in her muscles, as their is no pain from strain of her endoskeleton. And then her sight, while visual, has an overlay that seems to constantly be processing what she sees on more than just a visual level. While she sees things, her vision collects and displays relevant data relating to that image. Such as when she looks at John Connor, and her screen evaluates his status in comparison to her protocols.
With that information, all processing done by Cameron serves a purpose. Cameron tends to refer to these purposes as her "mission", though she will refer to programming or protocols. Overall, it amounts to the same. Her current programming and protocols all point to one mission: "protect John Connor."
It is unknown, however, if this is the extent of Cameron's mission. Cameron proves many times over that she has the ability to lie, and even tells John Connor himself that she lies when asked point blank it. While there is no question that her overall mission is to protect John Connor, as that is the primary mission of all terminators John from the future has sent back, there are times when Cameron acts independently and doesn't fully explain her rationale to the rest of the group. One such example is when Cameron goes against wishes to burn all endoskeleton pieces of enemy terminators, but John finds she has stored pieces for "potential repair purposes." Additionally, it is unknown why Cameron chose to give her chip to the rogue AI John Henry, effectively abandoning John Connor of the past.
Ultimately, while Cameron's actions can seem illogical to others they will always meet a specific programming goal in her mind that she has to meet.
Prior to Cameron's chip being reprogrammed, Cameron was an infiltrator terminator. It is noted that she seems to be a more advanced model, as she effectively deceives John into believing she is human on the day they meet with human behaviors ( and her weird ability to eat food ). Thus, Cameron has an ability to mimic human behavior, even dancing, but lacks the ability to do more than mimic human emotive expressions. As such, she rarely tends to apply the mimicry of emotions, as she struggles to find how and when they should work. They are not a part of her typical processing, so she simply neglects the factor altogether.
How Cameron was discovered to be an infiltrator was never revealed, but the results of that discovery were that John Connor of the future reprogrammed her to serve the resistance. Specifically to serve John Connor himself. Cameron spends an undetermined amount of time with John Connor of the future, but it's apparent that her time with John is lengthy enough to cause strife in the resistance. Overall, John Connor repurposes more and more terminators to serve the resistance, already an uncomfortable decision for many. But Cameron is special. John Connor keeps Cameron close, and supposedly spends evenings and nights in her company. He gives her, and other "metal" ( as resistance members call them ), private orders that no other humans are told. He keeps confidence with Cameron in a tactical way, and it's implied in an emotional way as well. Cameron rarely talks about future John Connor, but one time she does tell past John Connor that his future self is lonely and she knows because he's told her. This implies that Cameron is deeply trusted by future John Connor in a way no one can comprehend. At times, Cameron is shown to take messages for John. A resistance member, Jesse, notes that John of the future speaks less and less to other humans. A memory of Jesse's reveals that at one point Cameron refuses to let Jesse speak with John of the future, stating that anything for him can be told to her. This angers Jesse, though ultimately she has no choice but to acquiesce.
This relationship between John Connor of the future and John Connor of the past doesn't necessarily translate. For John of the past, he struggles to understand all of Cameron's quirks. Her inability to express common human morality and ethics, and frustration when her single-minded need to protect him interferes with his own plans and desires. This tends to cause strife between the pair. Cameron has no choice but to tolerate it, but if John Connor of the past gives her an order that contradicts with the future John's orders, she rarely follows it.
Despite all Cameron's somewhat predictability ( at least to the extent that her goals are known ), Cameron does begin to undergo changes that are disturbing to those around her throughout the series.
As a terminator, Cameron is not supposed to deviate from programming. And most importantly, she does not have emotions. Cameron herself expresses that it's not possible for her to have emotions. This is stated as a law of the terminators. But at the start of the second season, Cameron's chip becomes severely damaged. Even before the damage to her chip, Cameron had some minor odd behaviors, like ballet dancing. Cameron states that dancing is the window to the soul, to which John's uncle Derek expresses that metal doesn't have souls. Yet later he finds Cameron dancing alone. After the severe damage to her chip, Cameron's expression shows more disturbing changes throughout the next year.
Initially, Cameron's damage results in a reset of her programming that forces her kill John Connor again. Once removing her chip, John "fixes" it and replaces it. This doesn't result in immediate changes to Cameron, but over time she starts to ask more questions about things like human emotions. Such as why Sarah Connor turns a turtle over from his back. After John explains that they do this to help, Cameron is later seen to flip a human over off his back. The sentiment is there, even if a little off, that Cameron is growing a desire to help. Later, Cameron asks Sarah if she should kill the bird in the fireplace. Sarah tells her not to harm the bird, and later Cameron is shown to hold the bird gingerly and attempt to release it to freedom. She grows to become obsessed with helping free birds later. One time, Sarah gives Cameron information, and Cameron takes time to answer her. When asked why she's quiet, Cameron states she is thinking about it, to which Sarah responds she's never had to think about it before. Another dramatic issue arises when Cameron goes awol. Her chip malfunctions, cause Cameron to believe she is the human after which she was modeled. She runs through memories of both being Allison and interrogating Allison Young, and ultimately only reverts back to her normal self once she reaches Allison Young's death in the replaying. This causes disturbance in John Connor that she goes rogue for no reason and with no answer.
John and Cameron's relationship begin to change throughout the show as a result of their strain and her changes. John is angry with Cameron when she tells him that he shouldn't have saved her chip and should have let her die. This upsets John that his decisions are being judged, especially by the person he's saved. As such, Cameron and John struggle for a time to connect as John rebels against his family and lifestyle. Cameron does all she can to monitor him, though she can't help commenting on his choices from time to time. It's because of John's rebellion that Cameron has to talk more with him to get him to consider listening to her. Through their conversations, John starts to see the changes in Cameron. Slowly, the two begin to build towards a relationship similar to what she once had. Especially after the loss of his close friend, Riley.
Cameron's relationship with the rest of the family tends to be strange. Distrust of metal runs deep in for Sarah and Derek. Though as time goes on, Cameron begins to express her changes in ways that make the family look at her differently. She tells Derek about the baby he never had, how Jesse lost it in the future. She expresses regret for his loss, something she's never shown before. Sarah gets more unnerved by how close John and Cameron come together, and even more when she discovers the lies Cameron tells.
Ultimately, Cameron comes to realize that her behaviors are dangerous. She deals with a damaged hand that John tries to repair, but ultimately it retains damage and disrupts her ability to remain delicate. This shows the delicate balance between Cameron's programming and her changes, and the dangers of them. This causes Cameron to create a self-destruct button that she gifts to John Connor. Slowly, Cameron shows a trust for John of the present over his future self. She stops comparing them as much, and when John questions what he would do in the future she informs him that he is his own person essentially. Thus, she leaves the decision to destroy her in his hands should anything ever go wrong with her. She loses trust in herself over time, fearing the changes she's undergoing and what that might mean for the mission.
Becoming a Displaced will no doubt cause further stress and strain on Cameron. It will essentially be a rapid progression of the slow changes she was already experiencing. Her body will function differently, and worse her mind will. She will have the full gamut of emotions, causing chaos and overload that Cameron will have to learn to cope with. Ultimately, she will learn to build these things around her central desire to protect John Connor and save the future. However, she will have to learn how to adapt to her new experiences and learn more human behaviors at the same time. CRAU: n/a SPECIES: Terminator - T-900 APPEARANCE: ONE, TWO, THREESKILLS: INFILTRATION: As her designation is infiltrator, Cameron is equipped with the skills to make her capable of effect deceit. These skills include things like how to follow someone, higher level observational talents, and an eye for details. Cameron knows how to put the pieces of a puzzle together to create a believable deception. She is also shown to be personally interrogating the original Allison Young to get what she needs for her infiltration.
HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT: Cameron is shown to have a rudimentary understanding of hand-to-hand combat. She doesn't have any martial arts knowledge, just simple capabilities with punching and blocking and other basic maneuvers. She knows enough to hold her own in a scrap, though her previous combat skills relied heavily on her inherent strength. Without her strength, she can still defend herself, but could not hold her own against a more skilled opponent.
WEAPONS TRAINING: Cameron has skills with a range of guns from semi-automatics to shotguns to pistols and more. She has a preference for a "9 mm" as she says herself, but she's skilled beyond that. She knows how to disassemble and reassemble guns, as well as how to clean them. She is a good shot with decent aim and a steady arm.
MULTILINGUAL: Cameron has shown an ability to speak Spanish, Japanese, and Russian as well as English.
MILITARY TRAINING: Coming from the future, Cameron has lived and "served" in a military structure. She is familiar with drills, strategic planning, chains of command, etc. All the basics of military life and how to orient herself within strategies of others.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE (hardware): Being a terminator, Cameron has had to be able to fix herself when needed. She possesses a more-than-average knowledge of how technology works, however she's not a genius by any means. She still relies on John when things with her own tech get beyond her capabilities.
BALLET: During a mission, Cameron went undercover at a ballet studio. She picked up what she saw the others doing and the language used that was used when she was around. Again, she doesn't have much knowledge beyond this glancing talent, but she has been shown to practice the little that she did learn. Meaning she has retained that knowledge purposely and has repeated ita t the least.
MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE (basic): Cameron has an ability to assess injuries and passing field medicine knowledge. Even as a terminator, she was unable to handle major injuries. But she did have minor capabilities, even with stitching her own skin back together, and had a decent knowledge of human anatomy ( originally learned for killing purposes ). NEW POWER: PHYSIOLOGICAL MIMICRY - This ability will give Cameron the capability to mimic the physical characteristics of another person. Initially, this power will manifest in mimicking small aspects. These might be eye color, voice, hair color, face only, etc. Over time, this will develop into more complex mimicry, and potentially the ability to piece mimicked aspects in a different orientation to make a new appearance. POWER REASONING: Cameron's original and primary designation was infiltration. As such, mimicry reflects the skills Cameron is most comfortable using and displaying. This would also manifest Cameron's search for her sense of self through the study and mimicry of humanity. > SAMPLESSAMPLE ONE: LINKSAMPLE TWO: LINK | |
