Intuition

Since I meditated prior to my hike today, I decided not to stop at my usual cave for sitting meditation.  Instead I went further down the path and visited a second cave, larger and more secluded.

I sat on a rock for a few moments, taking in my surroundings.  I faced another cliff, and could hear various bird calls, but not much else.  The floor of the cave was cool sand and a soft breeze whispered sweet nothings in my ear as I relaxed and shed the heat of the walk.

I glanced at the far end of the cave and noticed three dark alcoves, about six feet off the ground, recessed into the shadowed wall.  Absently, I thought, "That would be a great place for a bird nest."

I checked out the wall with my binoculars.  Hmmm.  That actually DOES look like a nest in there!  I walked over a little closer.  Yep, a nest.  AND a mama Western Wood-Pewee, looking askance at me, but not stirring.

It gave me an odd feeling, as though I were creating my universe.  I would never have seen the nest and bird if I hadn't had the passing thought about it being a cool spot to build a nest.
