🌐 About TNC

TNC is Europe’s largest and most prestigious research and education networking conference. Each year, it brings together leading experts, innovators, and community members from around the world to share ideas, explore emerging technologies, and shape the future of research networking. For more generic info about the TNC conference, visit tnc.geant.org/about-tnc/faqs

TNC is organised by GÉANT, Europe’s leading collaboration for advanced data networks and e-infrastructure in research and education. The event is hosted each year in partnership with a local National Research and Education Network (NREN). This year’s TNC is hosted with the Finnish NREN, CSC.

TNC26 will be held in Helsinki, Finland, on 8-12 June 2026. But beyond the location, what sets this edition apart is its guiding theme: Digital Sisu.

Sisu is a deeply Finnish concept that doesn’t have a perfect translation into English. It conveys inner strength, tenacity, and courage, particularly in the face of adversity. At its heart, sisu is not about short bursts of strength but sustaining resolve when the going gets tough. As such, sisu all-purpose philosophy of life, which fits perfectly with today’s challenges and opportunities of the research and education networking community. In a shifting global landscape, with evolving technology, sustainability imperatives, and geopolitical dynamics, our community must embrace sisu to remain resilient, sustainable, and forward-looking.

Drawing from the precedent of TNC25 and its “Brighter Together” theme, TNC26’s Sisu framing offers continuity: where past editions encouraged collaboration and breaking boundaries, now we invite the community to adopt a mindset that is both inclusive and resolutely persistent.

These are two initiatives that run alongside the main TNC conference programme. Launched in 2018, the Emerging NREN Programme, funded by the GÉANT Project, is a key feature of TNC. Its main goal is to integrate representatives from emerging NRENs worldwide into the TNC community, fostering collaborations and building connections at various organisational levels between European and international NRENs. For further information, please contact Luis Martin Flores at GÉANT.

The Future Talent Programme (FTP) provides a unique opportunity for students and young professionals to receive professional training to learn how to pitch their proposals and deliver a powerful presentation. For those selected to take part in the FTP’s Lightning Talk Challenge, participants will present their Lightning Talk on stage at TNC. For further information, please contact Lisa Melrose at GÉANT.
