Alex asked at the beginning of the week if he could take Ben out to lunch. I’m not sure what prompted it, but I was definitely on board. During the week, Ben saw an ad for the SpongeBob meal at Burger King and has been asking for it nonstop. Alex agreed to take him and he has never been happier. He came home raving about the pineapple plushie (only Ben loves pineapple drinks), special dessert, square burger, and special nuggets. Alex is definitely his favorite brother, for the moment, anyway!
Our oven door has never been quite right. Ever since we moved in it has not fully closed. Wade has tried to fix it several times but never been successful. Recently, the gap has gotten worse so he decided to try one more time and even ordered new hinges. Of course, the project escalated, as they often do, and the new hinges didn’t fit. Wade put it back together but told me to go ahead and start looking for a new oven.
It took us a few days to make it happen, but we finally made it to the bowling alley. We were the only ones there but we had a great time! Ben was doing amazing with the bumpers so we switched him over to the non-bumper side. He wasn’t quite the killer there, but still pretty impressive for 8 years old. Teague didn’t show the same skill level on the “adult” side and we all got a kick out of it.
The kids had all kinds of things to keep themselves busy today. Most everyone worked their Lego sets yesterday. Ben got a ton of science kits so he decided to work on those today. He started with a gemstone kit and spent the morning digging out gemstones.
What a relaxed Christmas morning! Everybody slept late (even Tosa). I woke up, took Tosa out, and then found Ben awake in his room. We waited just a bit before we woke the rest of the family. We gathered the rest of the family and gathered the kids on the stairs before rushing to see what Santa brought.
Then we had our traditional Christmas breakfast – yum! Everyone took some time to shower and get dressed before we sat down to some present opening.
Then the kids disappeared with their new items while Mom, Dad, and Tosa took nice long naps. We all got together later for a wonderful Christmas dinner and some family time after dinner!
Today the fun of Christmas starts. The kids all slept late. (Tosa and I were up early, but not as early as a school morning!). The first thing the kids wanted to do was open their last basket present. Of course we did!
We had a very relaxed day but late afternoon we did make cookies, a yearly tradition.
Then we dressed for church and headed out for the Christmas Eve service.
When we got home, we decorated the cookies for Santa and then got everyone in bed. Somehow in the rush, I forgot to take our yearly picture of the kids with the milk and cookies with Santa. Oops.
Because life never stops, Ben spent the day before Christmas break getting an expander. He handled it like a champ and kept everyone in the office in smiles.
After dinner tonight, Wade and Alex jokingly got into it over something. Sometimes that means they end up in a wrestling match. Tonight it ended up in a mutual wedgie fight. The rest of us found it hilarious.
