Comments on Canvas in 2025

“As far as learning management systems/virtual (digital) learning environments are concerned, I am quite ‘agnostic’. Nevertheless, I use Canvas in several projects for several years now. I do use other learning management systems as well, like Moodle, itslearning, StuydyTube or aNewSpring (sometimes). The reason is that I mention Canvas as an example of an LMS/VLE is that a lot of people declared that the LMS/VLE is dead. This declaration is more than 15 years old. However, the LMS/VLE is like Mark Twain. The report of its death is an exaggeration. Canvas has been in existence since then and is a widely used digital learning environment. Especially for teachers and learners, Canvas is quite user-friendly and basic. It is a bit like a Swiss army knife with sevarl integration possibilities.” Wilfred Rubens, Netherlands, 2025

“very intuitive LMS” Instructional Designer, USA, 2025

“Canvas is our district’s Learning Management System (LMS). Students went here every day to access assignments and content, turn in assignments, and check grades. It serves as a class site of sorts and is very much my students’ “home base” for online learning.” Teacher, USA, 2022

“Both institutions for whom I teach moved to Canvas last decade, and I continue to like this LMS over others I have used (Blackboard, Bb Ultra, Angel).  Tying in to my next tool, Canvas is pretty customizable, and students like my consistent format.  I use weekly modules and have module pages for Preparation, Interactions, and Assessments, a variation of a model I have used for years based on the P-I-E format at St. Leo.” Britt Watwood, Academic, Canada, 2021

“It is the main LMS for the university that I work for. I use it almost every day of the week as a platform to ensure that both lecturers and student can perform their teaching and learning. I still think there are so many possibilities that I have yet to discover with using this LMS.” Seri Salina Zakri, Instructional Designer, Malaysia, 2021
