for anyone using custom ported lj styles at dreamwidth,
sarken has written awesome instructions for how to get rid of the 'unknown view' link in the header. go forth and tell her how awesome she is!
and now, what i've just spent an hour and a half wrestling with in my head:
damn it, mulder!
i have almost, almost given up believing that mulder is an ennea type four. but the problem is that he's so fourish. at the same time, he's so fiveish, yet i cannot reconcile him as a five. not completely. because he's also a complete Feeling type on the MBTI. he's not cerebral or rational or emotionally detached enough to be a five. he's also very physical, which is un-five-like. and we don't know very much about what he was like pre-X-Files. his personality could have undergone an enormous change first with samantha's abduction and then with his "recovered" memories. maybe that's why 5w4 is such an 'uneasy' fit for him. there's some historical or developmental disconnect we're missing.
the description of the realtionship between ones and fives fits rather well with mulder and scully. parts of it don't, but those can be explained perhaps by the strength of his wing and his subtype. it's very confusing because i'm trying to now convince myself that he is a five, but i just don't quite believe it. he's not like any five i've known, and i think fives are the type i've known the most of. and i just really can't wrap my brain around F-types being fives at all.
maybe much of that has to do with my own fourishness. (although, there is a little party going on inside my head at the thought that i'm not mulder after all. *\o/*)
all this was brought up because i'm trying to type melissa scully so i can write my
lgbtfest fic. i thought she was going to be difficult because we know so little about her, but just by eliminating types i'm sure she's not, i've become pretty convinced that she's a nine. i'm not so sure of her wing. i can see her as both a 9w8 and a 9w1, though the latter would be most interesting as she'd be the exact inversion of scully (1w9). by the time we meet her in S2, i think she's at a healthy level 3:
(from the riso-hudson wisdom of the enneagram)
it also meshes well with the fact that in my head she's a social worker. i don't know why i think that, i just do. and since we have no canon evidence to the contrary, that's how the story is going to go. now i have to figure out her MBTI type. then i have to, um, actually write the fic.

Nines reinforce their self-image by creating and maintaining peace and harmony in their world. They use their patient, levelheaded approach to mediate conflicts and to soothe others. They are often highly imaginative, inspiring others with a healing, positive vision of life.
