I've been thinking over the last couple of days about how you get people to visit your blog which led me to wondering about blogging and/or commenting etiquette. Are there unwritten or unspoken rules about who you can or can't comment on? Logic tells me that if you're posting publicly then you would welcome comments from people but I don't want to get it wrong.

Obviously, here on Dreamwidth there are friending communities like [community profile] addme (which I've joined and am working up to commenting on/making my own post) and I've seen talk of 'friending memes' but what about outside of these sanctioned events?

We've all got interests listed in our profiles, and these are searchable. When I click on one of my interests, it shows me everyone else who has that same interest. Is it frowned upon to randomly just starting reading and commenting on people who are also interested in, for example, scrapbooking?

I know I would love it if random people were to not only find but read and comment on my blog. I would also return the comment onto their posts. But the one thing I've never been is the same as everyone else.

Or am I just overthinking this?

It's a Saturday morning, everyone else is still asleep and I'm enjoying my coffee and a breakfast pastry in the relative peace and quiet. Taylor Swift is playing softly and I'm stretched out on the couch in a sunbeam like a cat!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce everyone to you a little before I go any further, since I introduc4ed myself already, so you have a little idea who I'm talking about

Bethany is my wife. We've been together since university and this year will be our fourth wedding anniversary. She's an accountant who loves science-fiction and superheroes, and hates reality tv (even though I love it). She enjoys running like a strange person. She's funny and smart and nerdy and sexy as hell.

We have two adopted children, brother and sister who came to live with us at the end of 2019. Talk about a traumatic time for everyone at the beginning our journey together! But we survived, we've all settled down and growing into a working family.
V is 12 and she's super girly, loves art and fashion and is starting to get into make-up and boys. She's obsessed with k-pop and wants to learn Korean.
J is 4 and he's a little chatterbox. He loves dinosaurs and lego and running and jumping. He's starting to learn to read and write and can count to 10

It is a little after 9pm on a Wednesday night. My amazing wife, Bethany, is watching TV. Our youngest child is asleep and our eldest has just started her bedtime routine. And I am re-living my tween blogging dreams.

So hi, and welcome to Cáit’s World. I’m (shockingly enough) Cáit, I’m a 32 year old tattooed and pieced lesbian living in Essex. Your average queer, liberal, basic white bitch who loves all things barbie, pink, girl power, human rights, self-expression, meditation, democracy, free speech, glitter and romantic comedies.

When not parenting my amazing children or working as a benefits officer for my local government, I can be found baking, playing board games, cooking, dancing, completing a puzzle, rollerskating, watching tv/movies/musicals, reading or sleeping.

I’m not entirely sure what you’ll find here. Slice of life stuff, body positivity, mental health, political rants, recipes, book reviews… and who knows what else! I’m excited to find out and to have you along on this journey with me
