This is my Index for my current fanfic. each includes a word count, but does not include the title, the opening song quote, or closing song quote (for Supernatural fics; unless the song is from Screaming Guitars; see my Music in my Fanfic for that). this listing also includes major warnings; and pairings; and the 'verse in which it is set. it does not have spoilers -- those are on the actual entry itself.

prompted by [livejournal.com profile] eilan again... XD
anywho, since i moved to goodreads many moons ago (read: 2014) i stopped posting my books here, and they're over there instead. (i also posted them on my instagram as i read them as well.)

as i do every year, i set myself a reading challenge to read more than the year before. in 2022, I only read 40 books (thanks to moving and all that), but this year i read 48! (in addition to me goofing off online, and crocheting too.) XD

so....Books I read in 2023 )

i posted a huge update back in February.
since then, younger daughter has graduated college. also big wonder i feel old. XD
while i'm barely on here, i do get emails every so often, telling me that someone on my flist has posted, so i pop on every now and again.

it's not really the same. and in those 19 years, i've seen changes, man. changes.

i think i mention these all the time, but i'm trystan830 on facebook, instagram, and snapchat; Trystan on goodreads; and trystan (she/her)#2385 on discord (but the discord name is probably going to change, and i'll most likely try for trystan830.

y'know they say 'what comes around, goes around' and look - it's another tv writers' strike! XD i only have two shows still working on their seasons - Riverdale and Nancy Drew, and they're done after this run of episodes. the only show i know for certain that's back will be the Rookie. the others up in the air are Murdoch Mysteries, Walker, and the Winchesters. AHS and Stranger Things are affected by the strike. not sure about Handmaid's Tale, Doctor Who... and Big Sky. wow, i don't watch a lot of shows these days. XD

hang in there.
maybe i'll post another update sometime later this year? XD

wow, it's been a hot sec. i posted my 2022 books on New Year's day, and the post before that was my LJ'versary in May of 2022.

of Moving, Cats, and Covid )

how's life been treating y'all?

[livejournal.com profile] eilan already posted, so i'm a copycat again XD

as i do every year, i set myself a reading challenge to read more than the year before. in 2021, I read 69 books, but i only read 40 this year - in the fall there was a move from one end of my state all the way across to the other, so that may have been a little bit of a factor.... in addition to me goofing off online, and crocheting too. Russians ‘to be disconnected from global internet from Friday’

Is it likely to happen? As ever, the answer is murky.

i have dreamwidth and insanejournal, but barely use them. mainly I'm on discord - trystan (she/her)#2385 (yes, include the number) - but also instagram and facebook. although my instagram is more LJ-ish. I'm trystan830 on both. (yes, facebook.com/trystan830 will get you to me.)

got this idea from [livejournal.com profile] eilan.
since i moved to goodreads many moons ago (read: 2014) i stopped posting my books here, and they're over there instead.

every year i set myself a reading challenge to read more than the year before. in 2020, I read 36 books.

it's been two weeks. i'm fine now. i laughed, i cried, i'm surprised i have tv show that lasted 15 seasons, that's for sure. only a few of my shows made it to 6, 7 or 8 seasons. but 15 is amazing. and a very awesome shout-out and thanks to EVERYONE who ever worked on the show in front of the camera or behind it!

and then last week, i read an article, don't remember which site it was from, but it was along the lines of "5 things we really liked about the ending (and 5 we didn't)"

now, i'd like to think we'd all been reading along when Jensen and Jared had said the pandemic actually did change the ending. i'd wondered what was going to be different, because i no longer read spoilers and spoilery interviews, and most of the time i'm just clueless about what's happening until i watch it, and then sit there and stare opened-mouthed, totally in shock from NOT expecting what i just saw.

so, this article says one of the things they didn't like about the ending is that they expected to see MORE PEOPLE in the ending scenes (purposely left unspoilery, because i didn't actually watch the finale until a day or two later, so you never know.)

and they listed who they wanted to see, and i'm pretty sure it had already been planned that all those people were going to be there - in a pre-pandemic world, anyway. the last two episodes were finally filmed once it was safe to do so, because pandemic!

yeesh.

nice to see the fandom goes out the way it came in - clueless about how the real world impacts what we see on-screen.

so much has happened since my last update back in April.

i completely didn't mention that we had to say good-bye to Max, our grey and white ancient dude kitty at the beginning of march. he was 17, almost 18, and had a good, long 11 years with us.

at the end of april, we adopted a 3-year-old floof named Rocky. him and Blackie really haven't progressed much beyond Blackie squeaking and Rocky hissing and then running back up the stairs. Rocky doesn't seem to like loud noises, and we think he didn't have much human (or other) interaction. he was surrendered to the shelter in march, we ... erm "fostered" him starting at the end of april, with the intent to adopt, which we did mid-may.

younger daughter made the decision to do the semester online from the comfort of home, instead of across the state 6 hours away. her and her roommate came to the decision unbeknownst to each other, and decided that if one doesn't go back out in the fall, the other didn't want to either, as the one returning would have a stranger for a roommate. out of her 5 classes, only one (stage management) meets in person, and she can still do that over zoom even though she's not there.

and then - the day her classes started online, we brought home two kittens that a friend of hubby had been fostering, so now, into the mix we've added two five-month old furballs of energy, Ash (full name Ashton), and Oreo. Rocky seems to be all right with them, sometimes wanting to play, sometimes hissing at them because they've snuck up on him or something. Blackie has turned into an old dude curmudgeon, squeaking at them and wanting to take pokes at them, and hissing at them to git out of his kitchen! (well, that's my interpretation anyway.

tv stuffs: i've had a show on this whole time, the 100 is airing it's final season, and then last few episodes start up again tomorrow (wednesday, 9/9). i can't wait for Supernatural to come back and finish up, as i recently commented on a post, that it'll be like seeing old friends again after a long time, and the time just melts away. i saw that after the show finally wraps, Jensen gets to take an Impala home. yaay!

on a serious note: )

also, yesterday, younger daughter got her first car, it's a 2006 VW Bug with over 100,000 miles on it, but now she doesn't have to share my car anymore. XD

finally - KITTENS! back here cause the pics are big and the post is long enough already.... )

edit to include an update about the jobs - at the beginning of june, my office job went back to Mon-Thurs, and my retail job went into full swing of opening up, after a few weeks of being open for curbside pick-up. i started back in mid-may with bringing the curbside orders out to the cars, and then the beginning of june, *bam* it's been like xmas season! yikes.

well, all three or five people who are still here on LJ. I'm on a number of other forums and social media sites these days. and I'm still crocheting as well.

I'm still watching all my shows, and waiting for that time when Supernatural comes back after this forced break.

my younger daughter essentially didn't go back to college across the state after spring break last month, but we did go out the weekend she was supposed to go back and move her out of the dorms instead. she's finishing up classes online, and is actually done for the semester next week!

older daughter graduated from college almost a year ago (O_o) and was working at various theatres wit electronics, as well as working with my brother-inlaw who's an electrical contractor. so her home base is at my inlaws, which is good, because we have a check on them, if you will.

hubby's been working from home for about the past month or so. i haven't been at my part-time weekend job since march 13 - they closed up the week after. i am, however, still going in to my desk job - there's only two of us, and we alternate days - so this past week i was Tues/Thurs and my boss was Mon/Wed/Fri. next week I'm Mon/Wed, she's Tues/Thurs and maybe Friday. I'm only in for two days, but i get paid for all four. :)

we're all healthy (well, as healthy as we all were before this) - only my one brother and his son were the only ones that might have had this thing - but they were undiagnosed as their symptoms were mild enough to just be in contact with their state's Health Department, and they've completely recovered. but honestly, this thing scares the crap out of me.

everyone hang in there, and stay safe!

as a follow-up to my previous rant about photobucket...

in other photobucket WhatTF-ery.... so it says the free account gives you 25 MB of bandwidth, and my one account i've started saving stuff from is using over 109 MB of bandwidth. whereTF are my pics posted that they're STILL getting that many megabytes of views??? pretty sure the last time i uploaded stuff to this bucket was 2011! wtf??

*sigh*

...and photobucket is stupid.

now, there hasn't been a huge demand for my icons over at [livejournal.com profile] trys_icons as of late, and i haven't made any for a lonnnnng time, but photobucket has fuzzed out ALL my icons because apparently i've gone over their limit for... something.

i'm not entirely sure i have all my icons saved on my many flash drives, but should someone wander over to [livejournal.com profile] trys_icons and want an icon, do let me know and i can reup that particular icon if i do still have it somewhere.

and as a result they're fuzzed out over here as well. i may reup the ones in my sidebar... eventually.

i've checked on my picspams, and most of them only have the photobucket logo thing on them, but then again, i haven't posted any picspam since...2013. XD

we apologise for the inconvenience.

so, i'm still here. i post maybe twice a year. LOL. it's come to my attention that LJ celebrated 20 years... and i've been here for 15 of those. i do still scroll though my flist every so often, and i also get LJ notifications when friends post after a while.

i still have my fic (trys_writer) and icon (trys_icons) journals, even though i haven't posted in either for quite a while. (i just looked, 2016 for both, and the icon journal is just to say i haven't been making icons, LOL). i've been writing NaNo pretty much every november, and updates are posted on my facebook and instagram. these days, i mainly use facebook and instagram, and i'm trystan830 on both of those... surprised? XD

this year, i have two graduations happening - J will be graduating college (Marist in Poughkeepsie, NY); and M will be graduating high school and going to Pitt in the fall. WOW.

and i'm still crocheting. lots.

still here. just had my LJ'versary on may 6th.... 14 years! O_o

anyway~ i finished watching Heroes and then moved on to Heroes Reborn
Image

this is me: i quite enjoyed Heroes. Heroes Reborn reminded me of a Heroes: The Next Generation, and i kinda wish it had been able to continue. i would have liked to see where it had planned on going.

and continuing on with my various rewatches, i'm revisiting one of the early shows i enjoyed (and one of two that i knew of that had write-in campaigns to keep the show on the air). i'm realising i've forgotten a LOT of stuff from the show; and what i remember is only in bits and pieces. Welcome to Roswell, New Mexico~
