oh baby!

Image
ImageWe are having a baby! YAY!! I know I posted this baby picture of Spencer for his birthday, but I wanted to post one of each of us for this little announcement. We are so excited! Its been a long time comin' so we are beyond thrilled to have a little one to love and hold and care for in just a few more months!

I was beyond sick the first trimester... lost ten pounds, went down to one shift a week, "morning" sickness every hour of everyday, our house was a disaster zone for weeks (poor spencer), not to mention all the crying (stinkin hormone imbalance), basically fell off the face of the earth for a while... but enough about that... now that I am 16 weeks and have a little zofran helping me out I am a new woman.

We are so grateful and feel so blessed to be given this opportunity by our Heavenly Father and can hardly wait to see what the future holds for us and our little family!

Due date: May 23, 2010

Congratulations are in order...

for this good lookin' man...Image

I should start with congratulating Spencer on graduating from college 5 MONTHS AGO (yea, I am really on top of things) but this post in really about Spencer and his brand NEW job! Yay!

Spencer has worked hard the last three years selling marble and granite coutertops/flooring/ or whatever else people want and he has been absolutely wonderful at providing for our family. He decided it was time to keep movin' on up, and take on some more responsibilities in a new company... so I would like to introduce you to:
Image

Spencer is now working for digicert in their marketing department and could not possibly be happier! He comes home from work everyday and says " I love my job!" So, I therefore could not be any happier as his wife! I am so grateful this was such an easy process for us to find a new job and have such a great transition... so THANK YOU Spencer for working so hard! You are amazing!

Two Thumbs Up...

With having just finished my summer round of classes, I have found I have more freedom to do whatever I want, whenever I want... and part of what I wanted was a good bag of popcorn- but mostly what I wanted was to see some much anticipated movies (on my part anyway)... so here are my reviews on the two movies I saw this week! TWO!!
Image
First, I saw Julie and Julia and can I just tell you it was HILARIOUS. I thought Meryl Streep was absolutely fabulous, and Amy Adams continues to be adorable in everything I have seen her in. Loved it. It was just what I needed to laugh and smile and motivate me to do things for myself! To name a few things I would like to do for myself: 1-photography classes, 2- guitar lessons 3- cooking lessons...

Image

I just finished reading The Time Travelers Wife and was so excited for the movie to come out this week, so sure enough I convinced my mom to be my partner in crime two days in a row and see both these movies! Seriously, who has time to see two movies in one week! I felt like I was living the high life! :) Anyway, on to the review... I loved it. It was moving, and totally made me think of my wonderful husband and how it felt like I was waiting for him before I even met him-- plus it made me grateful to have such an amazing man in my life! If you haven't read the book, I would encourage you to do so-- never can fit all the details in to a movie, but the movie was fabulous regardless. Never hurts to see a good love story if you ask me! Plus, I love love love Rachel McAdams- if only i could look like her!

So, long story short... both movies earn two thumbs up in my book! Check them out!

God Bless the U.S.A.

Image
Gotta love a man in uniform!!

My handsome brother Taylor joined the U.S. Army. My family and I could not possibly be more proud of him and his decision to serve our country! I cried like a baby when I found out what he was doing- then cried like a baby again the night I had to say goodbye- (it was just to S.C.! but what can I say? I really love this kid!) Taylor is on the path to become an army medic and has now made it through Basic Training in South Carolina and moved on to Texas for Advanced Individual Training. He has lightened his load by about 20 lbs, become a Push-up Master, running machine, yes sir, no sir ...you get the idea.

Here he is swearing in

Here is the family in our army shirts!!

Before Taylor went to Basic, we had a big family dinner (minus Shayla, Chase and Parker) to send him off... it was yet another delicious meal cooked by dad and adorable table set by my mother... she and I even found this sweet cake at Dippidee's in American Fork- by the way if you haven't been there please add it to your list of places to go... DELICIOUS!!

Image
We all tried to write lots of letters and send every bit of positive energy his way to give him strength needed to get through each day of basic- and he did wonderfully! We got to see him this weekend, as he got a 7 day leave before AIT starts up- I was so relieved to see him in one piece with the same smile and the biggest change being bigger muscles! (I am a worrier- I just couldn't stand the idea that he was going to go somewhere that people were going to yell and curse and treat him like dirt!). It was so good to spend time with him!

Image
Mom, Taylor and Dad looking so happy to be reunited on graduation day!

I miss Taylor like crazy and think about him every day... we all do! But man he looks good in that uniform! We are so proud of you Tay! Can't wait to see him at Christmas (lets hope!) !!

My cute sister Chelsea is getting married!! 09-09-09... just 6 short weeks away... I can't believe its almost here!

ImageThis is my cute dress (it will be modest of course on the big day)... I love it!! Don't you? It even has cute hidden pockets- for my tissues you know, in case I cry :) .

Image
The colors are black, white and red and we have some big plans for the event.I will have to post a picture of their invitations-- gorgeous! And I am sure the big day will be gorgeous too... can't wait to celebrate!! Yay for love.

just a thought...

my birthday is coming up... 30 days to be exact... the big 25 ... There have been a few things lately that have caught my eye so I thought I would post them so that just in case my sweet husband happened to glance at the blog he would have some great gift ideas handed right to him (or anyone else who might feel inclined to help me celebrate a birthday) !

I am currently loving this painting at Pier 1... its gorgeous!
Image

I know it isn't sweater-wearing season yet but how cute is this?
Image

Basically JCrew makes me a happy girl... loving the tank top
Image

Again, a sweater, but I can just picture myself in this on a low-key day with my cowboy boots and a scarf... yup, when you can picture yourself in it, thats a good thing! And its on sale right now for $25.00!
Image

Another cute dress for a hot date is never a bad thing... on sale at Nordys
Image

The problem with these??? I couldn't pick just one... I'd want them all!
Image

These necklaces are on sale, and I am into inspirational things right now... I would go for both the Hope necklace and the Believe...
Image

I think my cute S-I-L has these... I want them too

I am sure there will be other things within the next month that catch my eye... but a girl's allowed to dream big right?!

I love to see the Temple

Image

So to continue with our trip to Washington DC...Saturday morning we went to the DC Temple for Rob and Trish's sealing. It was beautiful and we were so glad to be able to be there. They looked so happy! Spencer and I always love being reminded of what we promised each other in the temple.

Here is the cute couple coming out of the temple

Congrats to the newlyweds!

Here is Amanda and I waiting out the rain ... I love her! I have the greatest Sisters in Law!

Our usual dip in front of the temple
We spent the rest of the day taking in more historical sites and museums and using every last minute up that we could. Spencer and I had such a great time with our family and are so grateful we had the opportunity to be together! So now the countdown is on for Disneyland in December!

My Country Tis of thee...

Sweet land of liberty...

Image
The Washington Monument
We started the morning off with a yummy breakfast at "The Diner" and we made our plans for the day.

Image
The Frye family
We walked and walked our little hearts out... We went to monuments and museums and had so much fun taking it all in. It was Spencer's first time in Washington D.C. and I had been once before in High School. I love our country and am so grateful for our freedom and rights so I am so glad I was able to see the capital again. We saw so many things that I could never even list them all, however, I have some pictures of a few of the sights-
Image
All the Frye kids at the WWII Memorial
I found that I was even more patriotic and touched by each of these monuments and memorials now that I have a brother serving our country (I will save that for another post). I have always been proud of those who have served and are serving our country it is just magnified by 100% these days.

Image
Look at Abe being all honest and what not
My high school choir was invited to sing at all these different places in D.C. and one of the places was on the steps of The Lincoln Memorial (so pretty at night!) it was so fun to be back there and remember how it felt to sing all the patriotic songs.

Check out the size of that turtle!

Folding the flag

We even folded this HUGE flag! There were 30 of us or something- and our Eagle Scout Frye boys saved the day with giving instructions and making the flag look good.
We topped off the day with a delicious meal at The Cheesecake Factory and dessert with the groom and his family at an italian restaurant next door. We were exhausted by the end of the day but it was so worth it!

And so it begins...

Image
Here we are at the beginning of the trip at none other than the Salt Lake Airport (I was excited to get everything started of course- but doesn't spencer look like he is about to burst as well? haha)

We had so much fun!! I am going to stretch out my posts by posting about each day (that way I don't have to think too much about what on earth anyone would want to know about our daily lives) So day one started out busy and full of excitement... Spencer and I both worked in the morning and then made our way up to Salt Lake and by the time we got there, I was anxious and bursting with excitement. We were looking forward to seeing our family from California and be able to have a few days with all the "adults" in the family. (I feel like the word adults makes me sound old so I will just put that in quotations ok?) The reunion was sweet and I think my husband couldn't have been happier to have his brothers with him again. The flight was easy and I was more than content reading my design magazines and having my husbands undivided attention! So nice for both of us to have a few days off together!

Image
Take off...after this picture was taken, my phrase for the weekend was: "smile! with your teeth!"

We landed and knew immediately we weren't in Kansas (or utah) anymore... talk about humid. But the highlight of the night was that the hotel we were scheduled to stay at had been overbooked and therefore had used our rooms (we didn't get there until 1:30 am) so check out our room! 1 bed, one pull-out and 4 people! Wow! Briant and Amanda had not yet realized how much they truly loved us- we were closer after this night than ever before! :) It was pretty funny-- that was something new and different for us, each couple sitting on their respective bed for the night staring at each other (we could hear the crickets and birds chirping) and next thing you know..."welp, i am gonna turn the light off" Haha, it wasn't bad, we had lots of laughs and couldn't have shared that room with anyone better.

Image
sorry for the terrible picture but it was the best angle we could get ... just wanted to give you an idea of the tight quarters!
Don't worry though- nothing was going to slow us down! We knew we would have a blast regardless of a poor night of sleep and you better believe we did! Lots of walking, pictures, food, monuments, and museums... more to come tomorrow!

Leaving...on a jet plane

Image

Well, I would highly doubt that anyone even looks at our blog anymore, but while looking at everyone else's blogs for the day, I had the desire to do a little update- and have decided to try to work on my lack of blogging skills.

We are off! Spencer's cousin is getting married this weekend in the Washington D.C. Temple!! YAY! So we are leaving on a jet plane (but, unlike the song, we know we will be back soon) It will be so fun being with all the Frye's! We are so excited to see everyone, and of course see our wonderful nations capital! I will definitely post some pictures of our trip!

There has been so much of life going on... so we have much to catch up on, but I will do that after our trip. Anyone who stumbles upon this update-- thank you for caring enough to return after months and months of my empty page! :)
