Look at that, I'm writing a novel! I'm stoked.

This is the same novel I started writing in December and scrapped around February. It had some plot holes, or rather, some things that just didn't make sense. It took until now to rework my plot and outline, reconfigure some basic character things, and finally come up with a story that (so far) works in my head and on paper. So here I am, back at it.

the diet for real starts tomorrow. mom has already started - I'm waiting to go shopping again. tonight I'm gonna order tacos or something.

my online writing group is (probably) going to go through Steering the Craft and do the exercises together.

meg's nails are a mess. I try to keep them clipped short, but they still tear sometimes and today one nail tore down and was bleeding and I always feel such awful guilt.

Florida in the headlines again, this time for shattering coronavirus records. like wtf, why can't we ever be in the news for something good?

today I wrote some stream of consciousness stuff that has nothing to do with anything. but it's writing, dammit.

I never know what to say in these updates.

This pandemic bullshit has really affected me creatively but I'm clawing my way back. I had a productive chat with a friend about my book yesterday, and today I wrote 1175 words of my FTH Sterek fic.

Mom broke her toe and refuses to stay off it. She keeps *doing* things. At this rate, it will never heal.

edit: I almost forgot. I'm cleaning my room. it's gonna be a huge endeavor so wish me luck. so far I've thrown away 2 garbage bags worth of stuff and filled 3 large boxes full of clothes for the thrift shop. I bought a new rug to keep me motivated. the post at dreamwidth | comments | comment there

Slow burn OR love at first sight: I like both, but if I had to choose, it would be the latter. Or maybe I like sick infatuation/obsession at first sight. Yes, we're already starting this meme off with Greenie flavor, sorry. But anyway, love at first sight doesn't automatically exclude slow burn, because maybe that trope only belongs to one character, and it takes awhile to get the other character on board. Like matefic where only one character can feel the bond? Yeaaahhhh.

Fake dating OR secret dating: Neither are tropes I particularly like, and that's being nice. Fake dating is too comedic for me, and secret dating is... well, I've kinda written it or at least alluded to it in my Stars 'verse with Chris and Peter having had a secret relationship as teens. That was nice and angsty backstory, I did like that. But I don't seek out that trope, either.

Enemies to lovers OR best friends to lovers: Enemies to lovers yessssssss. And not just 'enemies' but you know, *enemies*. I was gonna say "give me Voldemort/Harry" but I haven't actually read a whole lot of that. But the point stands that I want complicated, messy, angsty situations where someone is defying their peers and/or their own moral compass (or maybe discovering they aren't quite as moral - or immoral - as they thought, or that others thought) because they've found someone who understands them and who they love. Just yes. GIVE IT TO MEEEE.

Oh no there's only one bed OR long distance with correspondence: I guess only one bed? I've written it before but in my fics it rarely leads to actual sex, just like, intimacy. I don't like long distance in fics. I've had enough of that in real life.

Fantasy au OR modern au: Fantasy! Magic and fae or dragons or whatever. I don't read many modern AUs but I do write them occasionally? The current fic I'm writing for The Untamed is a modern AU.

Smut OR fluff: Hmm. Depends on my mood, and I don't like either on their own. There should be plot and angst flavored in with the smut and fluff respectfully.

Mutual pining OR domestic bliss: Oh my GOD give me ALL the mutal pining, yesssss. Domestic bliss is only fun for me if there's this undercurrent of OH GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING. Like if one of them has lost their memory and only THINK they should be living in domestic bliss. Or they've been Stockholmed. Or just.. idk, something is there and they don't know. Or maybe domestic bliss in the middle of an apocalypse.

Alternate universe OR future fic: AU - Canon Divergence. Every time. The 'what if' is my CRACK.

One shot OR multi-chapter: I'm more likely to seek out one shots but that's mostly because of my poor attention. I can read multi-chapter if it's coming out weekly or so, and I keep up with it. But that's the exception to the rule.

Kid fic OR road trip fic: Hmm. I like both? I don't like a LOT of either one, though.

Reincarnation OR character death: Depends who's dying and for why. I probably will seek out reincarnation (or resurrection) more readily than MCD.

Arranged marriage OR accidental marriage: Arranged. Definitely. Accidental marriage is too much like fake relationship for me with the comedic aspect, which just isn't my style. I mean, never say never, but nah.

Time travel OR isolated together: Time travel FTW. One True Trope.

Neighbors OR roommates: Meh. Neighbors, I guess.

Sci-fi au OR magic au: Magic AU. Or some speculative comglomeration of the two. Which, hey, is my latest idea for an original novel, and it's on my mind at the moment. (Future AU, Earth has been mostly abandoned, and the Tuatha Dé Danann come back to reclaim what's been turned into wasteland...)

Bodyswap OR genderbend: I don't like bodyswap AT ALL, and the only genderbend I like is Always-a-Girl, not sexswap, which I find... cringy, at best.

Angst OR crack: Angst angst angst. Or crack treated seriously. But just outright crack isn't my thing at all.

Apocalyptic OR mundane: *rubs hands together* APOCALYPTIC THANK YOU
