kinda nice to see I'm not the only one late as hell to these lol. it takes me all of january to recover from holidays, so you can imagine how my brain cell's faring.
challenge #4 ❄️ rec the contents of your last page
I tend to hoard bookmarks, so this was some fun motivation to sort through some of them. I can't choose just one thing to rec, though, so here's a some stuff I found interesting enough to save.
Yakuza 3 reviewed by Yakuza is an article on Boing Boing, written by Jake Adelstein, published in August 10, 2010. I know nothing about the Yakuza games. I've never played them and I'm not fannish about them, but this was such a fun read.
Girls' Horror Comics is a fansite about shoujo horror manga. I have yet to completely read through it, but I recommend it because I feel like there aren't a whole lot of places talking about the genre. mainstream horror animanga is usually seinen, so I think this is a good place to start if you wanna start branching out to other demographics.
the
Internet Roadtrip is a website where anyone on it at the same time can vote in a direction a virtual car can take on google streetview. it was launched in May of 2025 and is still active now. I don't visit it often, but it brings a smile to my face when I remember it because there's just something so fun about the concept of pushing a virtual car around with thousands of strangers.
The Art of KPop Demon Hunters is the official artbook of said movie, entirely online. if you liked the movie or just like artbooks, I rec checking this out because the art is gorgeous and it's a fascinating look behind the scenes.
Springhole's been around for so long I feel like everyone and their ma know about it, but I still wanna share it because I love this website and I hope it stays around for an even longer time. it really embodies the "and more!" part of its tagline of "Writing tips, roleplaying advice, random idea generators, and more!" because there's just so much fun stuff on here.
I got a lot more in my hoard, but 5's probably a good number to stop at lol.challenge #6 ❄️ top 10
top 10 youtube channels in no particular order!
- Tasting History with Max Miller is a joy to watch. I think the way Max explains stuff is delightful and easy to follow, and over half the recipes look easy enough if you wanna try having a historical dinner or snack.
- Natural Habitat Shorts teaches you animal facts through short and funny animations interpreting them in human(ish) situations. what more could you want.
- Krillik does great videos and analysis on pokemon worldbuilding. most of them are over an hour long with some even reaching 3, so he's great to listen to in the background or when you wanna watch a video you can sink your teeth into. the first video of his I ever watched is him laying out the entire pokemon foodchain. I think he's legit the closest you can get to a real life pokemon professor.
- Citrus Con's official channel has recordings of their panels! if you don't know what Citrus Con is, it's a free virtual convention centered around BL, queer media, and fan culture. I highly recommend checking out their official website as well.
- Dollightful made me wanna try doll repainting, but until I have the space and money I will live vicariously through her videos lol. if you wanna get into the craft or just wanna watch the creative process, she does a great job of explaining it and her designs are so cool.
- Gab Smolders is probably my favorite let's player on youtube. she mostly does horror, but she also does a lot of chill and cute stuff like farmsims and puzzles. I really like how she doesn't skip over half the lore and cutscenes in game and how her reactions to scares aren't over the top screaming.
- Korean Classic Film is the Korean Film Archive's official channel. have I watched any of the movies on their archive? no, not yet. but I've been subscribed to them for so long, I feel like it's only right I recommend them lol. they share Korean movies from the 1930s onward in full and for free, often times in HD, so check them out if you're looking for old movies to watch.
- justinthetrees is, like his username suggests, all about trees. to the point that you can go on any video of his, long or short, and someone in the comment section will be joking about this man being a beaver in disguise. it's not even an out there joke because I'd never have considered anyone would make ice cream out of trees until I found his videos. they're fun, informative, and will make you wonder what twig infused cream tastes like. at least, I did.
- I'm Carl talks about Philippine art and culture, primarily horror movies. his videos tend to average about 10 to 15 minutes, so they're perfect if you wanna watch something longer than shorts but can't do hours-long video essays.
- Dan and Phil lol I've been watching them since I was a teenager, it'd be weird if I didn't include them in my top 10. maybe my sense of humor's just shot, but they still make me laugh so hard.
