Accessibility

The United States Sports University is dedicated to making sports education accessible to everyone.

In 2018, the University launched a comprehensive web accessibility initiative to ensure all users have a functional and accessible experience across our web presence. We are actively working to make our website accessible to everyone.

As part of this effort, University administration and web professionals are progressing toward compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA standards. The University has begun auditing existing web materials to identify and address any accessibility gaps. This process is ongoing, and additional information—including tools and resources to support compliance—will be shared as it becomes available.

Questions about this initiative may be directed to the Director of Information Technology at [email protected] or (251) 626-3303.

2018 Initial Efforts Include:

  • Ensuring all newly created content meets WCAG 2.0 standards. These standards apply to web pages, videos, and audio content.

  • Acquiring software to scan web resources and verify compliance, with ongoing monitoring and re-evaluation.

  • Transitioning instructional materials to meet or exceed WCAG 2.0 standards whenever possible, including providing downloadable transcripts, audio files, and closed captioning.

  • Partnering with vendors that prioritize accessibility. We work with platforms such as Canvas and YouTube due to their strong commitment to accessible technology.
