This month, weāre spotlighting Shayla Swanson, a Music Editor with six years of experience in post-production and a deep love for storytelling through sound. One of her favourite projects to date is Creepshowāa perfect fit for her enthusiasm for zombies, ghosts, monsters, and the legacy of George A. Romero.ā
ā
Shayla got her start in music editing working alongside one of her favourite collaborators and mentors, Hal Beckett, and credits the support, encouragement, and strong sense of connection within Vancouverās music editing community as what makes the work especially meaningful to her.ā
ā
She joined the Vancouver Post Alliance for exactly that reason: community. Inspired most by her familyāwhom she describes as hardworking, gritty, optimistic, and endlessly supportiveāShayla brings the same energy and dedication to her craft.ā

If given the chance to work on any project ever made, sheād happily say yes to anything A24. Outside the studio, youāll likely find her enjoying great coffee, getting lost in a book, or at a metal show.ā

The Genre Film Lab is an accelerator program designed to support the development of feature films by providing effective finance, packaging and pitching strategies for female and gender-diverse filmmakers whose projects are at an advanced stage of development.ā
