Wild Cards S3New season premieres TODAY on @thecw

A blue-sky procedural with a comedic twist, Wild Cards follows the unlikely duo of Max (Vanessa Morgan), a spirited, clever con woman, and Ellis (Giacomo Gianniotti), a by-the-book, sardonic cop.

Season 3: Max is now an official police consultant, and her world is upended when Ellis returns to the force, and her mom suddenly reappears after faking her death 15 years ago to escape a dangerous crime lord.

Featured Member: Shayla Swanson
Music Editor

This month, we’re spotlighting Shayla Swanson, a Music Editor with six years of experience in post-production and a deep love for storytelling through sound. One of her favourite projects to date is Creepshow—a perfect fit for her enthusiasm for zombies, ghosts, monsters, and the legacy of George A. Romero.

Shayla got her start in music editing working alongside one of her favourite collaborators and mentors, Hal Beckett, and credits the support, encouragement, and strong sense of connection within Vancouver’s music editing community as what makes the work especially meaningful to her.

She joined the Vancouver Post Alliance for exactly that reason: community. Inspired most by her family—whom she describes as hardworking, gritty, optimistic, and endlessly supportive—Shayla brings the same energy and dedication to her craft.

If given the chance to work on any project ever made, she’d happily say yes to anything A24. Outside the studio, you’ll likely find her enjoying great coffee, getting lost in a book, or at a metal show.

Her personal mantra says it all: ā€œThe four D’s of success—desire, dedication, determination, and discipline.ā€ā

šŸ“½ļø SCREENING OF ā€œNOPEā€ at The Park!

Oscar-winning writer-director Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with titles like GET OUT and US. In 2022, he re-imagined the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, NOPE.

The newly reopened @parktheatrevancouver has begun hosting special screenings featuring notable industry professionals. Kicking off the series this Sunday is a screening of Nope, followed by a Q&A with Jordan Peele's editor Nicholas Monsour (Us, Nickel Boys).

The discussion will be moderated by our very own Vancouver-based editor and long-time VPA member @greg_ng_editor (Longlegs, The Monkey).

Sunday, Jan 25 at the Park Theatre
Doors open 6:45 pm & screening 7:15 pm
Tickets are on sale at the link in our bio!
