Food & Basic Needs
At VEAP, we’re here to make getting food a respectful and welcoming experience. There are no income requirements for our food programs, and our team is here to guide you through the process. Whether you need groceries, weekend food for your student, home delivery, or help accessing a mobile pantry, our programs are designed to meet you where you are.
At VEAP, you’ll find welcoming support and healthy food for you and your family.
We are one of the largest food pantries in Minnesota, serving more than 200,000 people each year and distributing over 4 million pounds of food — nearly half of it fresh fruits and vegetables. Our goal is simple: to make sure everyone in our community has access to nutritious, high-quality food.
What You Can Expect
Our on-site pantry is set up as a visitor-choice market. That means you get to choose the foods that work best for your household — just like shopping at a grocery store. You can select from:
-
Fresh fruits and vegetables
-
A variety of meats
-
Milk and other dairy products
-
Bread, rice, beans, and pasta
-
Cereals and canned goods
-
Other basic staples your family can use
You can visit the pantry or receive a home delivery once each month.
How to Schedule a Visit
All pantry visits are scheduled by phone to make your experience smooth and efficient.
📞 Call 952-888-9616 to make an appointment.
Most appointments are scheduled within one business day of your call.
When you call, our team will guide you through the process and answer any questions you have. We’re here to make it easy and welcoming.
If getting to our main location is difficult, VEAP’s Mobile Food Pantry brings fresh, healthy food directly into the community.
Each month, we visit several convenient locations to distribute food. You can stop by and receive:
-
Fresh fruits and vegetables
-
Other essential groceries
No registration is required. No questions are asked. Just come during distribution hours and receive the food you need. There are no income requirements, and everyone is welcome.

During the school year, VEAP provides additional food support for students attending Edina Public Schools, Richfield Public Schools, and Bloomington Public Schools.
This program helps ensure students have enough to eat during the school day and over the weekend.
Students receive kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare foods such as:
-
Healthy snacks
-
Breakfast items
-
Simple meal ingredients
-
Weekend food packs designed with students’ tastes in mind
We also partner with schools to help stock on-site pantry cupboards so food is available when students need it.
How to ensure your child can participate
Families are identified through their child’s school. If you believe your student would benefit from weekend food support, please contact your school’s counselor, social worker, or main office to ask about the program. School staff will guide you through the next steps.
Is a child in your household celebrating a birthday soon? We’d love to help make it special.
When you schedule your food appointment, simply let us know that someone in your family has a birthday coming up. If supplies are available, VEAP will include a birthday party bag with your order.
Birthday bags typically include:
-
Cake mix and frosting
-
Candles
-
Plates and napkins
-
A small party favor (like bubbles, crayons, or silly putty)
Supplies are limited, but we’re happy to celebrate alongside your family whenever we can.
Social Services
We provide compassionate, professional support for individuals, families, children, and seniors facing food insecurity, risk of eviction or homelessness, or other financial challenges.
If you need help with rent or utilities, VEAP can provide support through a grant — not a loan. This means there is no expectation that you will repay any assistance you receive.
If you are eligible, payments are sent directly to your landlord, property manager, or utility provider, so you don’t need to worry about handling the funds yourself. Payments are never issued to tenants or family members.
