Action

Why do an action project?

  • To empower students to be changemakers in their community
  • Students apply learning to real-life scenarios
  • Students learn to be engaged citizens
  • Students connect with mentors, neighbors and organizations in their communities
  • Students learn and practice skills that prepare them for careers and public life

VEEP/NHEEP works directly with youth and student-teacher teams, helping them develop leadership skills and take action through energy and climate projects that help lower energy use and raise awareness about energy and climate issues. Success Stories

“There are places where the community is reaching out to schools to solve problems! I hope this becomes a model for all schools going forward.”  – A teacher in response to ‘one new idea you gained’ from our training

“THIS IS AMAZING! Schools are fortunate to have organizations like YCLA  and VEEP  available for supporting youth environmental projects, providing educational materials, and helping to build networks  among the ecologically minded students in the VT/NH school community. It is really inspiring to see the variety of projects that students are taking. Thanks for all you do!” – From a NH teacher
