PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

VEEP/NHEEP support helps teachers build their science teaching skills while bringing energy and climate science into their classroom. Our programs range from one-day trainings on how to use our kits, to multi-day, credit-bearing professional learning opportunities. Click on a program area below to learn more.

“I really enjoyed the training and learned so much about power resources and how to teach my students to start caring.”

“I feel that my students could be empowered by the idea that they can all be scientists, even without going into a job in the field of science. Even the questions of daily life are better answered through a scientific lens.”

“Everyone is coming in with different levels of experience and I think it’s easy as adults to jump right to the “right answer” rather than helping others figure things out. Aubrey and Angie  modeled this process throughout the day through coaching us.”

“I loved all of the examples and have so many ideas of how to help students choose and re-design real world projects that will improve their community.” – a teacher after a training

“This is a week of learning how to help the earth through the children and it was something I needed and it was well done. Teachers of all subjects need this to really understand STEAM.” –  A teacher attending Summer Insitute

“All of the figuring out a problem and deciding a project to work on to solve it were great for this. Wonder Wander, Envisioning, Climate Connect, Iceberg Model, Systems Mapping, Ranking, etc. So many ways to engage with youth and what they care about. Thank you!” – A teacher’s response to: ‘what is one new idea you gained from this training?’

“There are places where the community is reaching out to schools to solve problems! I hope this becomes a model for all schools going forward.”  – A teacher in response to ‘one new idea you gained’ from our training

“VEEP/NHEEP is serving a very important role in enriching and supporting educators with climate education. Their facilitators are experts and very helpful in bringing the workshops to young people to understand the energy and environment in a more hands on way, which may be not the case for many.” – A VT teacher
