The road to Nike Women's Marathon SF begins!
Image

As of July 21, 2013 I have 13 weeks to train for a run thats13.1 miles :)

Since I started running racing events I've wanted to run NWM. The ultimate race with a Tiffany necklace in place of a finishers metal and the amazing views of SF, oh and the hills! Image
SF is a place that brings me back to my roots. I grew up in the Bay Area and as a teen I would visit SF often by public transit. Now I get to run all around it and run across the finish line greeted by fireman outfitted not in a fire suit, but a tux and Tiffany gift box. On top of all of this we are celebrating women and the event raises funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There will be approximately 30,000 participants in the Nike Women’s Marathon San Francisco this year. This will be the 10 year anniversary of this race (and my graduation from HSU). This will be a great experience and kick in the butt to get me back into shape. I can tell I've put on some weight over the last year. I can't allow it to keep creeping up on me. I've got to stay motivated and determined to stick to my training. I am so excited to have been chosen for this race and sometimes can;t believe it after four years of entering in I finally got in. Maybe that volunteering I did last year helped ;)

On Friday November 16th between 9am-2:30pm someone entered our buildings secure garage and stole our Honda CBR 1000 (pictured below). It’s a great financial loss to us as we did not have it insured for theft. At this time we were storing it for winter in our “secured” garage.

The police have informed us that it is common for motorcycles to be put in the back of vans. If you have seen any unusual people or vehicles in the area during the time noted above please contact us. Maybe you were walking your dog, were outside walking to your car or may have seen anything suspicious please let me know. You can send us an anonymous letter, text or call us at (951) 990-9735. or contact the LAPD auto detectives at 310-482-6334 file #1214.  Please let us know of any security camera footage that might be helpful.

Yoga salutation

Lately (since sept 2011) I've been practicing yoga at YogaWorks and a couple of other Yoga Studios. I previously practiced at Spectrum Gym or just at home. I first started practicing yoga in college like so many others. At Humboldt state it was difficult to get into on of the yoga classes. one of my favorite parts was the chimes the instructor used after savasana (final resting pose aka corpse pose). Over the years I have collected a small library of DVD's Sara Ivanhoe being my favorite and my newest DVD is by Kathryn Budig. Now living in LA I am in the heart of the yoga world (as I have heard from many yoga teachers). I am able to take classes from the teachers I have DVD's from :) very exciting. I have been working with a yoga teacher Gigi Yogini she incorporates more than just yoga poses, she introduced me to pranayama (breath work), she also uses drum and dance in her classes to go beyond just yoga and invigorate you and empower you. Today feeling like a homebody I practiced at home using the Kathryn Budig DVD Aim True. I completed the 25 minute workout and then freestyled on my own for what seemed like 30 minutes. I practiced sun salutation, head stand, and wheel.

June 12 2011

I've signed up for three more 1/2 marathons. The SF Giant 1/2 on August 27, Rock N' Roll 1/2 Marathon LA on October 30, and Rock N' Roll 1/2 in Palm Desert on December 31 (New Years)! So I'm starting my training now and will be continuing for the rest of the year. Although last night while I was sleeping I think I pulled a muscle in my calf :( As soon as I flexed and stretched while half awake I got a major cramp like feeling in my right calf. I'm hoping it's very minor and not a strain. I went to the beach today and it felt fine to walk on the sand so fingers crossed that I can run! I put some Tigers Balm on and wrapped my calf. Wish me luck!

Vote for me Please!!

Performing Beautifully for me means having grace. Performing Beautifully means showing my inner beauty and strength more than my outer beauty and strength. I feel Performing Beautifully means having determination without losing grace. Performing Beautifully to me means being present in the moment.
I love being active and being part of an active community. There is so much love and strength that comes along with being involved with an active community. I love bringing people together or being part of a group where we share the love of an active lifestyle. I love how we share laughter and help each other keep motivated.
The feeling of bliss during my workouts inspires me to stay active. Being focused in that moment helps me focus for the rest of the day. Setting fitness goals inspires me to keep going and I am determined to accomplish my goals, but most of all when other people tell me I inspire them I feel I am Performing Beautifully.
Running, traveling, wine tasting, being active, and finding something new in my own city is what I love doing-it is my life force. When I'm not active I'm planning my next trip, adventure, or running event. I love accomplishing my goals and fulfilling my dreams and aspirations.

First Blog

Well this is my first blogging experience. yes I'm a little behind the times, but better later then not at all. I will try to keep this up to date in order to keep my family and friends up to date with our life. I must admit that I'm really bad at keeping in touch so this is my solution to reach out to all those far and near. I hope you enjoy!
