INSTRUCTIONS:
-
pick one of the layouts-
copy the code for it in the box below the preview image (click in the box, CTRL+A, CTRL+C)
-
go to LJ's customization page (here), and look for "Flexible Squares" in the search box-
hit "apply theme" underneath any of the layouts you get (I advise picking a simple one, like "Blue Gray" or "Autumn", some of the other ones have images in them which will show up if my code doesn't specifically overwrite that)
-
click "customize" where the "apply theme" button used to be, or "customize theme" in the upper right corner where it says "[yourname]'s current theme" (or hey, just click
here)
-
click "Custom CSS" in the sidebar on the left-
Make sure the 3 dropdown menus there are set to "no", "no" and "yes"("Use layout's stylesheet(s)" - no; "Use layout's stylesheet(s) when including custom external stylesheet" - no; "Custom external stylesheet URL" - yes)
-
paste the code you copied earlier into the big box next to "Custom Stylesheet"-
Don't forget to hit "save changes"!
If something looks wrong with your layout:
- try hitting "reset to default" next to the "Save changes" button, just in case you still had something funky leftover from previously using Flexible Squares
- leave me a comment with a screenshot or accurate description of what the issue is, and I'll see what I can do
Notes:
- when in the "customize your theme" page, where you click "Custom CSS", you can also click "Display" for example to find the place where you can enable/disable the navigation strip, or click "Sidebar" to enable/disable things in the sidebar like the page summary, the tag list,...
- Flexible Squares does not have a "Update Journal" link in its layout. If you're used to having this and you can't find how to update your journal without it, you can find a "post a new entry" button either on the LJ Navigation strip (enable it if it's not there) or on the link bar on top of your profile page (in the "journal" dropdown menu). You could of course also download an
LJ client.
