(Brief) Canon Description Please briefly describe your canon. A few sentences or a link to a wiki page will suffice.

Personality/Background We want just a really brief description. Assume we aren't canon familiar and want to get the gist of your character and their history with a quick review. Please don't write a super long thing; this shouldn't be any more than 100 words. This is for our information, not to evaluate you.

Would you be willing to have your character be a wagon leader? We expect wagon leaders to be a bit more active, so please only volunteer if you're able!

Well, it looks like you didn't make it to the end of the trail.

However you died, that was definitely real. Whether it was a hunting accident or disease, that much is still vivid and clear in your mind. However, as soon as your traveling companions lay you to rest, you're suddenly aware again, looking at your own tombstone. That may be a bit startling, but a voice speaks up to you.

"Lord help me, y'all can't stay alive for even a week, can you?"

When you turn to look, you'll see a person you do not recognize staring back at you with a sour expression. In fact, he looks like the people you've seen around, not the people you've been traveling with from all kinds of worlds.

"Come on, settle in, let me explain..."

And so he does. You are indeed dead, but this isn't your last chance to get home. In fact, he explains that it's better than the trail, since he can send you home, but only once everyone else is dead too. You're a ghost, sure, but you're still along for the ride with the rest of the group. And it's your job to make sure they come and join you...

Hello friends!

This is an interest post for people who might be interested in playing in a short term game (~2-3 weeks) based on the Oregon Trail video game series! Activity will be necessary, of course, but the requirements aren't as stringent as other short-term games you might be familiar with, since it's the setting that's trying to kill you rather than other players.

The basic idea is that characters will ~mysteriously~ arrive in pioneer-era America and have to make the dangerous journey to the West to go home. All characters will be depowered, but there's no memory tampering or otherwise! There will be death in this game, but honestly, this is a silly, campy sort of game. It's the Oregon Trail, you are like, definitely going to die fording the river, come on.

The pace will be roughly 2 OOC days = 1 week IC (with possible tweaking) with RNG elements to simulate all of the surprises that the game will throw at you. The game will likely start around the week of October 19th, excepting some kind of extenuating circumstances. While it's not required that you play every IC week, there will be a soft AC system in the form of RNGs being skewed against less active characters at mod discretion, so if you're not playing actively, you're more likely to die. Similarly, there is a form of "voting" to determine characters' weekly RNG, and missing one will mean they get killed off.

Because of one game mechanic to be revealed, this is not an open game. If you have a link to this, don't worry, but unfortunately if I (Christy) don't know the person in question, I'm unlikely to let them join, sorry! If you have a friend you'd really like to invite, send me a private plurk and we can talk about it.

This is neither a reserve nor is it a commitment! However, to figure out some mechanics, we want a general idea of how many characters we should be expecting.
